Yeah. I look forward to his next game so he can prove again how much of a shit he is and for people to rip him to shreds.
"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."And who knows? Cage's next game could even cause Matt and Pat to rekindle their friendship and do a one-time reunion LP.
If anything will rekindle their friendship, I doubt it'd be a David Cage game.
Disgusted, but not surprisedIf anything will rekindle their friendship, it will be time apart and not having to work professionally with each other. I certainly don't expect to ever see a reunion video of any kind, AT MOST a Twitter photo of them at a Con together.
"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."I won't defend Cage as a writer, but I thoroughly enjoyed my own playthrough(s) of Detroit: Become Human because that game's branching story-line was the most thorough I'm ever played in any "your choices matter" game to date. More than Bioware, and certainly more that Telltale. If Cage can just iron out the rest of his issues, and keep up his gameplay improvements, it would be super great.
From what I've heard, that branching system only really holds up for one playthrough. The Best Friends's opinion of the game dropped significantly after their second playthrough, which apparently highlighted how many of the choices don't matter.
But you're obvious still defending it after multiple playthroughs, so it must be YMMV.

"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."Their dislike stems partly from Kara's storyline, which I agree dropped the ball hard due its awful and unnecessary plot twist rendering everything you do there pointless as far as narrative goes, but another part of it was learning about why deviancy existed, which I also thought was dumb.
The game holds up to me as a game because it's possible to make very different narratives from playthrough to playthrough. The 2 Let's Play's they did and the one Paige played herself all show this, as Pat had 3 different experiences with the game they were different enough to not bore him like siting through 3 playthroughs of Beyond: Two Souls did.
The Reveal that the deviancy is really nothing more than planned obsolescence pretty much undermines the entire story's premise.
Disgusted, but not surprisedYeah, the Kara twist makes NO SENSE in addition to screwing over Kara's entire storyline.
"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."Not according to what I've heard. Both the head translators for MGS 1 and MGS 2 got fed up with him because of his egotism.
But yeah, my main issue with Cage has never been the type of games he works on, because they're just high budget adventure games. That would be fine, except the writing is rubbish and filled with creepy stuff. Like I don't think Madison in Heavy Rain contributes anything much to the story outside of being objectified.
Maybe it's just his Japanese mannerisms on stage then, that tends give that impression.
"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."Yeah,I've always felt like he was humble, learning he has an ego surprises me
New theme music also a boxI mean, I'm not surprised to hear he has an ego, the critical acclaim he gets would give anyone an ego, but watching footage of him didn't give me that impression.
"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."Curious, but seeing that all the other DMC playthroughs have a folder in the Funny section, is it worth creating one for DMCV despite it no longer being under the Two Best Friends brand? Matt and Liam got an entry for the later Life is Strange games after Liam left to form his own channel, and neither Woolie nor Pat have a page of their own yet.
So I'm watching the I Have no Mouth and I Must Scream LP.
I gotta admit, the dissonance between the cheery opening tune and the subject matter of the game is pretty jarring.
Disgusted, but not surprisedLove that LP. Pat's Psyche degree gets put to some good work in there.
Not to mention the prophetic "Yellow is boners" save-name XD
I'm thinking I'll watch the Beyond Two Souls one next. How high is it on the Cage-o-meter? Is it peak Cage like Omikron?
Disgusted, but not surprisedIt's pretty damn high.
"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."Hmmm, so will it be just awful enough for an entertaining LP or too awful for even the Friends to make it worth watching?
Such is the dilemma when it comes to Cage games.
Welp, wish me luck.
Edit:
Oh jeez...just a few minutes into the first vid and I already realize this game is garbage. And there's 17 of these.

Disgusted, but not surprisedIt's the good kind of garbage, though. They can make you laugh at it. It's not like Omikron where you're praying for death or Detroit where it's just kind of "Eh" and you're just staring at them making bad decisions in the most racist game of all time.
My various fanfics.Yeah, sitting through the Omikron LP made me really think about just wtf I was doing with my life. I hate that kind of introspective bullshit. The entire reason I watch L Ps and play games and such is to avoid it.
Edit:
Forgot to ask...is there any creepy sex stuff in this game like in other Cage games?
Edit 2:
Okay, gonna have to give up. I didn't realize how much First-person stuff there was. I'm one of those people who get motion sickness watching this sort of thing (though I don't have that problem when I actually play First-Person).
So now I'm watching the Ride to Hell Retribution LP instead. I've seen Angry Joe's review of it already, so I know it's going to be a shitshow.

Disgusted, but not surprisedBeyond is very Cagey. Ride to Hell is incredible due to all the Snark Bait and Good Bad Bugs.
Beyond is the creepiest of all the Cage games, by far
My various fanfics.
It also doesn't help that Quantic Dream is apparently a really toxic work environment rife with bigotry, and Cage himself was a large part of it. Which makes the not-so-subtle civil rights metaphor in Detroit hypocritical in addition to pretentious.
