American Gun Politics is not really a trope, but a Useful Notes sort of page, so I moved it into that namespace. (A lot of other Useful Notes pages seem to be misplaced in the Main namespace.) I find pages like this one full of thorny political debate horribly overbearing, and don't know how this one could be improved, or if it even needs improvement.

Anyway, while changing the links, I noticed that it was being used in lists of tropes used in works. Perhaps people can think up some potential tropes that these could be made examples of.

Predator 2

Red Dawn

  • American Gun Politics: In the middle of a battle with US tanks advancing on the town the Cuban colonel takes the time to confiscate the Form 4473's detailing the sale of weapons to private civilians. The KGB later execute those who have firearms unaccounted for. Gun control is bad, folks. Cuz, ya know, A well regulated Mili...
    • Justified Trope: If you had the means to stop occupied civilians from shooting back at your men, you do it, too.
    • Truth in Television: One of the very first things Communist field armies did when occupying new territory was round up everyone and everything they could find that was potentially capable of showing armed resistance.

xkcd

Zombie Strippers

  • American Gun Politics - lampshaded into parody
"The law says I can own them, not that I have to know how to use them!"

"Not quite a trope"? Not a trope at all, you did right moving it to Useful Notes.

But soft! What rock through yonder window breaks? It is a brick! And Juliet is out cold.

You did the right thing. I am curious as to whether or not referencing it constitutes a trope. Was it an Author Tracting or something?

Was it on the index because a lot of the Useful Notes are indicated as such only by the index, not by the namespace.
