This is a small thing, but I kind of like how the second The Great Ace Attorney game handled its first case as a "tutorial." I like how it has a character who is familiar enough with how trials go but hasn't actually ever been on the front lines like Ryunosuke has; it's a fairly nice way to justify potentially not remembering how to do things due to nervousness.
I don't expect any new games in the Great Ace Attorney setting, but it would have been nice to play as Ryutaro again in some capacity. Ah well, a guy can dream...

If we ever get more GAA content, I really want a Ace Attorney Investigations game with Kazuma as Edgeworth and Gina as his sidekick.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I just realized that Turnabout Samurai is the only case in the entire series to have Phoenix as the lawyer, Edgeworth as the prosecutor, Maya as the assistant, and Gumshoe as the detective.
If only Gumshoe could have returned for the time traveler DLC case in Spirit of Justice...
Where is the loveable lug anyway?
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.IIRC, I think he was referenced in either SOJ or DD (forgot which) in regards to a pay raise.
Macron's notesIf we get a new game, hopefully we’ll get to see him again. Playing through the original trilogy on PC really made me miss him.
If Paypal is so successful, why is no one paying our pal?
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. When I played through the DLC case of Dual Destinies, I had hoped Gumshoe would be the detective for that case, not only for nostalgic purposes (like how they brought Pearl Fey for the case before she showed up in "Turnabout for Tomorrow"), but for convenience just in case for anyone who played the DLC case after completing all the main cases, given the stuff about Fulbright.
if anyone has a few hours to spend, Nezumi VA has just released her Retrospective on JFA. Includes a bit of history of the development, some dubbed VA sections, of course her personal thoughts on each section of each case, both the trials and investigations.
While I do agree Turnabout Big Top is the worst in the trilogy, it definitely isn't the worst in the entire series. That still goes to either Turnabout Serenade from Apollo Justice or the Final case of AAI 1.
Watch SymphogearMy friend described AAI as like going on a nice vacation until you crash into a tree, and no matter how good the rest of it was you'll always remember that tree.
The Protomen enhanced my life.the diplomatic immunity case right? as far as i can tell immunity seems to really be that powerful, in fiction at least. There was a Columbo episode where the killer was more than comfortable admitting he did the dirty deed up until his prince found out, in which he begged to renounce his immunity to avoid being tortured.
They do my least favorite Ace Attorney cliche several times in that case:
- Bad guy gloats
- Protagonist goes into despair mode with their head on their hands
- Fade-to-black
- "HOLD IT"
There was an IRL case a few years ago where the wife of an American diplomat in the UK killed a kid with her car (accidentally, to be fair), and she immediately fled back to the US and as far as I'm aware never faced any repurcussions.
So yes, diplo immunity is potentially that powerful.
I mean, I think it was making fun of that cliche by the end, at least by the time Wendy and Larry, and then nameless forensics dude did it.

Heart of StoneNameless faceless dude is an MVP. I imagine Edgeworth took him out to dinner afterward.
The Protomen enhanced my life.I think Turnabout Big Top gets a bad rap it doesn't entirely deserve. While I'd agree it's not necessarily the best in the trilogy, it's pretty far from the most frustrating story in the set - at least imo.
At least it's not blatantly offensive like Recipe For Turnabout, and I remember it having less logical irritations in its puzzles than many of its neighbors.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I really liked Turnabout Bigtop, the characters were fun, and the ending made me sad. I mean the cross examination with Moe was a little annoying but it wasn't that bad and there are worse cross examinations.
The only case I didn't like was Turnabout Serenade. I remember having to listen to that song over and over again. That's probably the reason why I only finished the game once.
Macron's notesOne of Ace Attorney's greatest strengths in every case is the cast of characters you're with, and for the most part, the client and side characters you're grouped up with tend to end up really unsympathetic, creepy, annoying, or a combination of the three, while the villain is a tragic one filled with regret. Even outside of the whole illegal love triangle, there's a lot to hate to hate about the choices and writing decisions. There's also little lthings like the repetitive circus theme or key pieces of the case that really asks a lot of suspension of disbelief to be plausible.
My client would never say hi to you because he threw a bottle at your head the previous day! That means you don't know if this was my client!
Man, I actually like Turnabout Ablaze.
Turnabout Serenade is the worst at least IMO.

Heart of StoneYeah but that plot point never comes up until way later in Spirit of Justice.
And Apollo stays at a foreign country.
Granted, Dhurke's reaction to Trucy and Apollo REALLY makes me wish Phoenix told them at all.

Dying may have been plan D for Misty, but actually warning Maya instead of risking her life was plan E.
