Well it's not like it hasn't been hammered home a bunch of times.

This comic has had its ups and downs, but the random references to other media are starting to wear thin. Honestly. "Link?" "Funny hats?"

Well, it's not like we don't know that... bugger, I can never remember her real name, I always think of her as Gid... has a thing for elves. And the reference was apropos.

-*shrug* Not having any real problem with it. And it's nice to have a snippet of non-Richard humour again.

I suppose, but for reasons I can't fully pin down, they seem out of place.

It could just be a bit of Mood Whiplash- it's been all Cerebus-y lately, and having some not-quite-fourth-wall-violating-humour pop up feels a bit odd now.

It's been all cerebus-y since near the beginning, the problem comes from fighting it.

Okay, been a while... but when you resort to killing a childhood memory just for the sake of a black-humor joke, then you run a great risk. *facepalm*

I don't think that was supposed to be humorous.

The only thing leaving people asking that question is the fact that Richard isn't in frame.

^^You missed the part in the first strip where he commented on how cold it was... leading to the end of the next strip as the punchline.

I repeat, the only reason anyone would question whether Ryan Sohmer would make a joke like this is the fact that Richard is not in frame.

Because this adds so much. I never would have guessed what Richard would do after singing about killing them all. I assumed hugs.

I'm tempted to suggest that image from the last one for Heroic Sociopath, but it's not good enough.

Its not heroic, and not sociopathic since they're worms and not people.

As said by another person, I don't think it was even a joke. It seemed more tragic than anything else.
