It was still an immature reaction by the Critic to have a video dedicated to "fuhfuhfuh Wiseau is stoopid." I mean I guess yelling insults at things is his whole act but a simple news post explaining why the review was taken down without having to childishly insult Wisseau would have sufficed.
Considering that Wiseau was the one being childish by having the review taken down, and that the Nostalgia Critic's job is you know, comedy, making a parody of the whole situation was quite appropriate.
If he can make fun of Wiseau for making a stupid film, why can't he make fun of him for making a stupid copyright claim?

He was the best at both killing and not killing - StrangerYou can make fun of him, but that doesn't mean you don't sound like a seven-year-old in doing so. I mean, the way to respond to a copyright claim isn't to put up a video wherein you put words in the mouth of the man pressing the claim in such a way as to insult his intelligence and dignity. It's a really immature way to respond to a legal threat, even one based on flimsy principles; it's like throwing insults at someone on the opposite side of a debate. It's not going to help you win the debate and it will make you look like an attention-whoring asshole.

^ ... gotta be honest, you kinda lost me with the whole "insulting Wiseau's intelligence and dignity" bit, as though he has either.
But other than that, you raise a fairly decent point....
Yeah. I have to wonder which side the "LOL NC's so hilarious'' debate folk would be on had the target been, say, TV Tropes or the like.
TV Tropes is unlikely to have used bullshit copyright tactics to pull a video from the Nostalgia Critic's site.
the future we had hoped forI'm sorry, what the fuck are you talking about?
Kill all math nerdsI'm talking about how I just know people would instantly jump to attack NC had he used similarly moronic and immature ways to insult something he disliked. Really, it's no different from any other retarded strawman that gets used by internet trolls.
So? He's a comedy performer, not an elected official or something.
the statement above is falseAnd he got his own site for this very problem, guys acting like asses even though his videos were labeled under "fair use". If you were suddenly issued a lawsuit and had bad dealings with the guy after a long time of being free to make videos of whatever you wanted, wouldn't you be pissed off?
Besides, whether it was this John or Wiseu who issued the lawsuit, Doug's Tommy is pretty much just an Affectionate Parody and reminds me of Chester.
I cut up one dozen new men and you will die somewhat, again and again. The video wasn't supposed to be an actual thought-out response to Wiseau's claim of copyright infringement, it was just supposed to be funny. Parodying someone by playing a fictional version of them is a staple of comedy. Walker wasn't putting words into Wiseau's mouth any more than the people behind Dead Ringers were putting words into George W Bush's mouth when they had Jon Culshaw as Bush address the nation with "my fellow amphibians".

Er, guys. You do know there's a difference between "he shouldn't do that it's morally wrong" and "it's a fucking retarded example of comedy that reeks of being butthurt", right.
... Oh god... that game...
THAT GAME...
I can never get the sight of Claudette / Mark out of my mind now. DX

Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987Is it just me or does the game (intentionally?) give the sense of an Unreliable Narrator towards the end? I didn't see the film in its entirety (though I highly doubt Mr. Wiseau has the insight to pull it off) so this may have been in the film, but I am referring to Johnny's RAGE sequence... some stuff during that gives me the impression, like Johnny's psychic powers and the fact the cafe was going out of business even though you'd gone there several times. I dunno, Rule of Funny or Tomato in the Mirror or whatever?
The game did make up some stuff. Johnny being a spoon-collecting alien was not in the movie, for example.
Kill all math nerds...Why was Axe Cop on Wiseau Street?
No Johnny, you are the aliens!
We know very well. Why are you so angry about this?
Not angry. Just reinforcing it for the "durp durp he's comedy :))))" folk. Apparently, attempting to be funny means you can't be called out as a dickhead.
^ ... But being (or acting like) a dickhead does not automatically mean that the statements aren't hilarious. They are. I fail to see the "trying to be funny" aspect of your argument.
@ Myrmidon: Are you sure? If Johnny were a spoon collecting alien, the movie would make so much more sense....

You are tearing me apart, Irate Gamer!
I got better.
According to the book Showgirls, Teen Wolves and Astro-Zombies, the writer, Michael Adams, interviewed Wiseau, and Wiseau was convinced that Adams could not refer to The Room in his book in any way without violating copyright. Wiseau clearly has the same grasp of copyright that he has of filmmaking.
