This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

I realize that I need to be more familiar with certain terms before posting them, like how the points I made for The Loud House under "Oddball In The Series" are better suited to "Early Installment Weirdness".

Hello, it has been at least two weeks since my suspension from editing in the Wiki. I am wondering if I could request a repeal. I am more consistent in writing examples with adequate grammar and editing format through the Grammar Help forum.
In addition, I was introspecting the reasons behind my suspension and I do notice some of my shortcomings. I wasn't checking my work twice so a lot of errors get past the editing process, and I was putting "quantity over quality" in terms of examples. I shouldn't make excuses, but I understand why I have to be curbed.
So, the next time I am allowed to edit again, I will keep the lessons in mind and double-check my writing before I upload them.

I don’t mean to be a bother, but I’d like to know how long my suspension time will last. I shared a couple good ideas on many different pages. I’m autistic and a good observer on many things. Many of my edits were wrongly undone because someone suspected me of being a pedofile due to my work on the "Male Gaze" stuff. In conclusion, it’d be nice to have my suspension expire soon. I Promise I’ll do better with grammar and adding episodes to the recaps.

So, people are expected to pay attention to that kind of stuff & correct it every time? I feel like that's a minor thing in the grand scheme of things & something you guys may be adding on to something more serious because that genuinely seems like a lower-tier thing to take away someone's editing privileges for.

Anyhow, since this is the second suspension and you didn't address the concerns here I don't think I'll lift the suspension at this time. Getting unsuspended requires a bit more than merely waiting for a few weeks.

Also, in general, grammar issues are not easy to resolve and it takes time. I wouldn't appeal such a suspension until there are at least several requests in the Grammar Help thread in a row that didn't need fixing.
~Tatermater12: Suspensions last as long as is necessary for the problem to be resolved. In this case, yes, applying Male Gaze tropes to children does in fact look like what a paedophile would say and we don't want them here.
There are other issues such as bad grammar, Zero Context Examples and violations of the Dethroning Moment of Suck rules by adding more than one moment per episode but the above is the most important problem.

@Septimus Heap I'd never really paid attention to the rules before since I thought I understood what they meant, but now that I actually read and took them in I'm going to make sure never to do anything like that again, whether it be edit warring, aggressive editing, or both. Just in case I see another vandal, or even genuine ban-evader, like that in the future, could you suggest how to contact a mod/admin for banning and edit vandalizing reversion?

I want to ask a question.
Am I finally free to edit again or do I still have a long way in improving my vocabulary for editing pages in TV Tropes?
I think I have learned enough lessons to avoid bad grammar and Zero-Context Examples.
However, given how I still have a long way to go, maybe I can just go back to editing again instead, but this time, I go to the forums first before I start editing. To make sure I make no mistakes or give no zero-context examples while editing. I promise to try sticking on my words.

First off, I was sick with COVID for the last couple of weeks, which is why I waited until now to ask. Secondly, I am more than willing to address those concerns, but not with crazysamaritan. It feels like he’s unnecessarily hostile towards me and that it would go nowhere with him. And thirdly, I’m well aware this is my second time on here, but the first was mainly due to a mistake I made that I’ve made sure to avoid again. This time around, however, it seems like I’m on here more because the editor who kept readding that example thought it would be easier to report me than to try and talk it over, as opposed to a genuine issue.

Hey again! Shouldn't have rushed to make 3 pages on a work (rushing won't result in good pages shocker I know!)
If I am correct I did thesemthings in under 1 day:
Made no context examples (just saying "yeah (,) it happens" and stuff like that don't count as context another shocker, I know)
Made a TLP with just 4 examples (2 of which I didn't link becaus ei was unsure if they existed, but checking wouldn't have hurt. It would have helped!)
My point was that it seems like that's a lower-tier thing to suspend someone's editing privileges for in the grand scheme of things. Like, it seems like there'd be more egregious things that would cause you guys to do that than someone not hitting "enter, shift, 8, 8". Am I making any sense for what my point is? Like, it's your guys' site to run, but the severity of punishments for some things feels off.

The purpose of a suspension like yours is to prevent other tropers from having to do extra work to fix your mistakes. You are clearly not improving enough to meet our standards, so we cannot justify letting you edit on your own.
In these situations, we sometimes offer a choice. You can accept being suspended until you demonstrate sufficient improvement, or you can have your suspension released on the condition that you will check all your edits first. If you fail to do so, you will be permanently banned. No more chances, no Help with English topic. Done.
You clearly need help every time you write. I don't think that second option will work for you.
~AHI-3000: Maybe you could not have been suspended four times. That's already more chances than we normally give, especially since it's the same damn thing every time: refusing to seek consensus before taking unilateral actions. A suspension is supposed to help you learn. Clearly some part of this isn't working.
~Adembergz: When we discussed your prior suspension, you said you wouldn't make stub articles or TLP proposals. You have now done both of those, plus you hatted your own TLP draft. This happened immediately after you were released. You're basically done here. I see no point in offering you more chances since you clearly haven't learned jack squat.
~Scsigs: This isn't very hard. We carefully explained the concept of natter and indentation to you last time, and you went and did it again. Our standards are not negotiable and we expect all editors to comply with them. Since you don't seem to get this very simple concept, I think we may have nothing further to talk about.

This sort of thing isn't acceptable anywhere. It's not just a TV Tropes rule. It'd get you spanked on Wikipedia, in a classroom, at work, in a D&D session, etc. I'm really hoping that we don't have to explain why. What should you do if you suspect someone is engaging in an edit war or vandalism?

I don't believe I did anything to create more "natter," as I didn't make many edits afterwards. Literally, the additions I made to the pages I did were only ones relevant to them as works. I had it in my mind to only keep the example relevant to the media created by Mc Fly & I rearranged where an example of a trope was that was already on the DBZ Abridged YMMV page, just in a way I shouldn't have. Other than that, I can only recall correcting the odd spelling or grammar errors on a few pages.
As for the indentation, the 2 examples that I'm aware of were: me not thinking about fusing 2 points that I should've rather than just making 1 indented further under the other, which I admitted to, & an example that I could've just been told about. The first, I genuinely thought wouldn't be a big deal, the second I wasn't thinking on. That was honestly what was going on in my mind. 2 genuine mistakes on my part that I'm owning up to right now, right here.
I perfectly understand why I'm back here & am perfectly willing to apologize for these examples. If there are any other things I can address, I'm perfectly ok doing so. And, if I'm coming off as having a bad tone, that's not my intention, sorry. I'm just trying to address these things as best I can.

Apologies for causing any annoyance. I don't want to be permanently banned while I still have the chance.
Maybe as I improve my English, some of my examples might be used by other users and be put into the pages I'm making an example of.
Also, what does it mean to lift my suspension on the condition that I will check my edits first? Does that mean I can edit again but must make thorough examination on what I'm editing?

I meant lazily adding a trope without going into detail about how it applies to a person, thing or character. For the Gwen Stefani page, I didn’t feel like listing every song she’s sang that related to the trope so I left it at that. I do understand now that I shouldn’t do that so I won’t again.

I don't understand why I got a suspension from this website. I've been a great editor of this site for years and have done nothing wrong. I'm not getting any indication. With these messages I got, I will try to use Grammar related forum all the time to prevent grammar issues. In addition, I will not recklessly change any images without any major agreement in image threads forum. I will use both of them wisely after my suspension is lifted.
