This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

Can I be unsuspended please, or at the very least know how long the suspension is going to last? All things considered I think it was fairly undeserved. I added an entry to the Unfortunate Names article, listing a character as "Mingy Jongle" because "Minge" is slang for a woman's genitals and/or pubic hair, a fella deleted it for whatever reason and sent me one of those word cruft pre-drafted messages. Now, the last time he sent me such a pm it went on back and forth for about 12 messages (I can't remember how many exactly, I delete PMs when I'm done with them), frankly I don't really want to hear it, so this time I asked him not to send me such things.
He responds with a very passive-aggressive and very disrespectful "If you don't like it learn to edit better" and a wall of text that I just didn't bother to read, which considering I've averaged a few edits a day for years now without ever being suspended and maybe gotten a "bad edit" pm maybe about 10 times total over that entire period, I felt I have a pretty good track record and that such a statement was pretty undeserved. So I told him to "fuck off" and blocked him. Again, rude or not I feel it was rather fair.
What do you guys think? I'll grant that I was rude to him, but given the circumstances I think they should have been suspended. Maybe they were as well, this is actually the first time I was ever suspended so I'm not entirely sure how it works.
Edit: Also, I'd like to add that I did attempt to block him initially, along with my first message telling him not to send me such things over such minor issues, and the block didn't work. Maybe I didn't do it right (Again, first time blocking someone), maybe it was glitch site-side, doesn't really matter, but the effort was there on my part to prevent it from escalating before it escalated.

~gophergiggles: While we've admonished ~My Final Edits in the past about being curt when discussing editing issues with other tropers (and it's not exactly a secret that I'm abrasive on occasion myself), that doesn't excuse the initial rudeness you showed in dismissing the notifier you were sent. You had no reason to assume ill intent when you first replied, telling them to mind their own business.

That's just not okay, no matter what else is going on, and it's completely contrary to how our wiki works.

Same here. I went through some of the conversations you've had, and it seems that you are being intensely hostile to keeping your edits compliant with our standards. It seems that you are misinterpreting our guidelines about "having fun" and "being light and breezy" to mean "adding whatever you want regardless of the rules".
It also seems you missed that This Is a Wiki. Don't leave it up to other people to clean up your work. Do it right yourself or don't do it at all.
MFE, Ferot_Dreadnaught, and other tropers are doing heroic work trying to make sure that our articles follow our guidelines. They do it without any compensation and without even the authority of being moderators. Please don't make their tasks harder by fighting back. Or do, and end up here.

I think it's ridiculous that I have been suspended for editing something about the Master in the Doctor Who page, because it disagreed with shipper fans interpretation.
PS all of you who go on about Jon Pertwee's Doctor wanting to shag the Master, they were intended to be BROTHERS in the Pertwee era. Watch the Planet of the Spiders DVD and Pertwee says it's the only explanation that makes sense, and that Roger Delgado and Barry Lett's (the co-creator of the character) both came up with that idea. Yet for acknowledging that, I get banned? Way to make this site look like it just sticks it's fingers in it's ears and goes lalalalalala when people disagree with it.)
I admit that maybe I could have been more polite when my edits were undone, but to be fair my edits for certain pages have been undone, and called "misogynistic nonsense2 yet that tropper has not been banned (not that I want them too, but still it's a double standard) their edits which are not as factual as mine are allowed to remain.
As far as I'm concerned this is a double standard.

In short, you are disrupting the wiki and being rude in the process. Nobody cares about your opinions; we want you to be a responsible troper. If you can't, you get banned. It's as simple as that.

To me this shows a clear unfair bias and not wanting to represent actual facts in an article.

Consensus? You can watch Jon Pertwee, Barry Letts and Terrance Dicks (the creators of the character!) talk about the plan of Master being the Doctors brother on the DVD for Planet of the Spiders and Frontier in Space! You can watch Peter Davison conform that was always the word of god on the Planet of Fire DVD!
So the makers of the show say that's what it is, if you watch the show itself you can see that their relationship is not at all how it's described on this wiki, but because a bunch of horny DW fans say that the Master and the Doctor were in love, that's how it has to be written?
To me this is an attempt to rewrite the past to make it fit better with New Who. You won't acknowledge that Missy is an in name only incarnation of the character, and be more objective in how the Master's character was, so you rewrite it and present it as fact to anyone coming to this wiki.
And you have the cheek to tell me I am the one with an agenda? Seriously?
Why bother using facts for anything on this wiki? I can claim that Lex Luthor was really a Dinosaur man, and if I get enough people to agree with me, I guess you'll have to put it on the wiki.

Ok, I will answer that question. The reason why I did it is because I wanted to help out and add an article. I thought it was good to launch, as it seems like a regular trope. I didn’t know it was against the rules, so I decided to do it. I just thought it would expand the wiki, and I was surprised there wasn’t an article of it before.
So I was banned from On-Topic Conversations forums. Is it mostly due to my own cynicism with my own posting, and is this ban permanent?
So I have been trying to start writing the revisions that you demanded and I haven't been able to. Something about the demand just seemed... off, and I've figured out what it is.
What it is, is that this isn't about whether or not I am capable of writing good entries for the site. You know I am, and there are literally hundreds of edits I have made over the course of nearly eight years that you could consult to confirm that. There is absolutely no reason why you need to ask me to basically do a little song and dance in front of your entire forum to show you that I can write things good. You already know I can. But it isn't about that.
What this is about is you making sure I know my place. You see, it's not going to matter what I write or how well I write it. You're going to tell me to keep rewriting it (while being snippy and hateful as you've consistently shown yourself to be,) until you're satisfied that I've finally kissed your ass enough and then maybe - MAYBE - you'll lift the suspension.
I'm sorry, but no. I'm not doing that. The suspension can stay in place forever for all I care. Because after this little peek behind the curtain and seeing that what I thought was an excellent site is really just the personal playground of a couple of poncy little forum mods jacked up on their own sense of power I don't even want to edit on it anymore. Frankly it's your loss.

I've contributed to providing examples for the Through A Face Full of Fur page several times without any problems until recently. So I have no idea why this has become a problem now all of a sudden. I was just doing exactly the same thing as other contributors and what I always do. I don't know why I'm being singled out, I haven't done anything wrong. I noticed a post in this forum that inquired about me providing examples of characters who actually have fur, but others don't. There are other examples of those who don't really have fur when they change into another color, but they're still included. Also, I didn't know I have to specify what animal a character is before putting the examples. As for the last contributions I made to that page, I was just adding more examples of this trope concerning the Mighty Mouse franchise, specifically The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse and Heckle and Jeckle. There doesn't seem to be an individual page for that particular Mighty Mouse series by Filmation, so I just put the examples from that series along with an example from the original one. I'm not sure which of these is enough reason or cause to have me suspended from editing. I don't know what the problem is for why this happened suddenly. I read and know the rules, but I don't see how I violated in any way. I have no idea why an explanation couldn't have just been given along with the edit suspension message? Lastly, for how much longer am I being suspended?
~Dawalk86, it's not uncommon for an editor to be unknowingly making bad edits for a while, and then it gets noticed and brought up. I do see you had at least one troper reaching out to you about the misuse of Through a Face Full of Fur, but you never responded.

Many tropers have told you in ATT and TLP that your grammar is very poor. It's also been noted that you tend to spam and ignore direction when provided to you.
