This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.
The Forum Rules apply here.
Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

Right, so as soon as an example is contested, regardless of changes made and points being conceded, it should be taken to PM's, in other words, Step 3 is where it goes wrong.
Gotcha, will remember that onward.

~Theharbo: Correct. I've released your suspension.
I'm sorry about everything I did wrong. I won't be putting in any more zero context examples. I'll also keep from relying on Wiki Magic to do the work for me.

Hello! I've just been suspended from editing, and I'm not sure why. The only thing I can think of is adding a trope back to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which I believe had been deleted due to misunderstanding of how the trope works. If that still counts as an Edit War, then I'm sorry. Could I have my editing privileges back, please?
~Apocrypha, it does count as an Edit War. As listed in the page linked, the third edit in a tug-of-war of an example's validity constitutes a war, which you did when you added back your example of They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot to YMMV.The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim. Instead of doing this, there were other, constructive tacks to take to resolve the dispute off-page, instead of using the page itself as a fighting ground.
Understood, sorry.
~hubakon1368: Sorry for the delay. I checked your history to see if you could demonstrate writing with context, and can confirm that it is the case.
Thus, you will be released. Thanks for stopping by, and happy troping!

~Apocrypha, for the next time, if someone removes your edit, what would be the proper thing to do? There are a few options.
I'm sorry I didn't know I was arguing with my new Barefoot Unicycling trope. I was only trying to be polite. Some people were thinking it's a People Sit on Chairs trope, but I tried to get them to understand the whole meaning of it. I just wanted everyone to know that the trope isn't seen as often as extra innings in baseball, and it can be both "an animal rides a unicycle" and "a human or a creature rides a unicycle barefoot".
And I'm sorry I put things that some may think wouldn't belong in the Mascot Racer page.
Can you please unsuspend me? I promise with my whole heart I won't do anything meaningless again.

~nombretomado send them a PM or take it to Discussion.
~Apocrypha, you're on the right track. We advise PM's, discussion, and/or ATT. For the latter two, you definitely want to be notifying the other troper (via PM) and in an edit reason (for other tropers who may be interested in the debate) that you are taking it to that location.
The goal should be to have a fruitful conversation, right? So you have to make sure everyone has a chance to participate.
Are we all clear? I'd also like to take a moment and say this is your third wiki-side suspension (granted, your first for edit-warring), so we really do not want to see you back here, because the chances of release take a rapid downhill slide when it's 3+ suspension.
We're all clear!
Alright, have at. Thanks for coming in.
Hello.
I haven't edit in a few months, so I don't know why I'm suspended now.
Two years ago, you were suspended due to grammar issues. I noticed one in your appeal just now, for example.
We are very picky regarding grammar as errors leave messes for others to clean up if left unchecked.
I recommend that you use our English help thread. Pitch some examples that you would like to add, and other tropers can pinpoint what you will need to improve.
It appears that you have made moves in general that are quite nonsensical. Your response to criticisms of your TLP draft, for starters, was completely missing the point. Also, Mascot Racer isn't the only page where you made bad edits. In another page, you just erased context of an entry, making it a Zero-Context Example.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportDear T Vtropes team, I was suspended but I still want another chance to finish the page I have created. I wrote about CLILK animation (I really think it should exist on tvtropes) but I missed the rule about the list of tropes that are supposed to be included in the main text. I'm sorry, it's more a mistake of a noob than a deliberate breaking rule.
It's been two weeks since I was last here. I will admit that it was my constant bashing of Tokyo Mirage Sessions and the fact that I brought it into the SMT thread that got me forum-banned. Will I need to say more than this?

Sorry, i'd like to make forum games again
~trollsfan2016, you seem to have made a choice. Does the account trollsfan2020 sound familiar to you?
Fan 727 alt:
Okay, this is a BIG misunderstanding.
I said, I'm not a sockpuppet from different users, because I knew some edits look to suspiciously similar, NOT because I wanted to start using sockpuppets.
And the only reason I use socks, is because of this flimsy reason for a ban. I have no intent to use several accounts at once. I simply use new, because I know I have to do something and have to start with a new account.

~clilker: TV Tropes is not a place for you to advertise your website, especially considering that it has nothing to do with tropes. Now, is there anything else you might like to contribute?
~Cybran General Sturm: Well, that depends. If you can't be trusted to be civil in that topic, you will remain banned from the Video Games subforum at the very minimum. The two weeks thing isn't like a jail term; to get privileges back you have to convince us you won't keep doing what got you suspended in the first place.
~trollsfan2016: You have no clue how to participate productively, and then you tried to ban evade. Your ban is permanent.
~Don326: Everything we need to say to you has already been said. You violated a major rule by plagiarizing content from other sites. You then ban evaded. There is no "need" for you to be here. Nobody is violating your civil rights. You are unwilling or unable to participate according to our rules. Thus, you are permanently banned.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Very well then. I will try my best to remain civil about things in the SMT thread and if I do not have anything civil to say about a particular topic I should refrain from posting.
I have to admit, so far I've managed to keep my conduct clean in regards to editing the wiki, but my record for the forums has been less than stellar.
If this isn't enough for you guys, then I have no choice but to quietly accept remaining banned from the Video Games subfora.

Sorry, I did not say that clilk community does not deal with tropes. There are a lot of tropes because it is a community of animators who create clip-art animation, visual narratives and fanfiction anime stories, so these people develop a lot of tropes, you can check if you want. I can describe it and give proper links. I did not mean to advertise it, I am a clilk fan and I wanted to tell people that it exists. It just was my first attempt to write something on tvtropes and I did not read all the rules carefully, I am sorry for that.
~Theharbo: You're missing the point; as soon as the example was removed, adding it back regardless of the changes and without having the discussion first enters Edit War territory. There's something else I want to bring up, but I need to check on something first.
