70/100 - This does an impressive job of giving me fake 80's nostalgia. Longing for a time I wasn't even around for aside, there's a bunch of different melody lines layered across one another that lead to a very full though not overwhelming sound; it feels very "complete" and fleshed out and the interaction of all these layers gives it an easygoing intricacy that you never really notice until you really dig for it.

Matching the name of the track, this is some ideal night music: pleasant, calming, but with a sense of mystery and ponderousness. Reminds me of Grails, another great band of this genre, but with slightly more focus on strings. (8/10)

8/10 It was well-performed and had a good atmosphere, but the vocals clashed with the instrumental.

7.8/10 a classic, if a bit overwrought. The bells kinda kill the mood not gonna lie.

Wait, this track has a harmonica in it. Lemme get mine so I can play along.

Okay. Beautiful country ballad with great lyric work and vocal performance. The instrumentals (harmonica aside) feel rather workmanlike, but I suppose that fits the song's feel pretty well. 8/10

7.5/10 A pretty good but unremarkable dancey number from U2's later era

65/100 - Maybe the live mix ain't perfect cuz the vocals sound almost like they're fading out or barely there at points. Aside from that, it's the kind of explosive energy you generally expect from hardcore punk and over before you know it.

5/10 Well-performed, but I didn't like how the vocals came across and it wasn't a particularly noteworthy song.

8/10 Such a classic. I can't believe I didn't know Carl Perkins wrote it. It's amazing how it infuses such a simple chord progression with such energy.

Not really an improvement on the original. If we're talking Satie remixes, I prefer Debussy. 5/10

10/10 What a perfect little idea for a show theme. The twang gives it a quite unique atmosphere and the length's just right.

7/10 Man, Rush just couldn't resist jumping into the 80s MOR bandwagon like the rest of the great 70s bands and artists who thought fixing what isn't broken is a good idea, aren't they? Catchy, but forgettable.

Bias disclosure: I'm not the biggest fan of the slower/stripped-down flavours of classic rock, especially not of the Epic Rocking variety, so this isn't the smoothest listen for me personally. Like, I don't feel that the bridge had to be that long? And the main piano riff doesn't sound especially interesting or challenging for something that runs for the song's entire 11-minute duration. Credit's where it's due: the lyrics are thoughtful, the sax can be delightful at times, and the choruses and outro make up for the rest of the song's relative limpness. 5/10

7/10 As far as folk-pop pieces go, this ain't half bad; the transition to the pacey bridge towards the end is the highlight of the song, but those vocals sound like your generic "white chick with a guitar" that keeps getting airplay on the radio

It reminds me of the old Mac Tonight McDonald's commercials. Not that I have a problem with that, those commercials always had a nice feel to them that I can never properly explain. But it's good. 9/10.

Anyway, this next one's a bit of a meme Tally Hall - "Ruler of Everything"
