Which is pretty rude since the first two were expendable in his plan for the First.

Igeryohem sounds legit cause she thought aiding Lahabrea of all things was a good idea.

Yeah, I actually hadn't considered the reveal of Amaurot to be for the Warrior of Light's sake. Despite everything, he was sentimental to the last, I think.

God. The best villain in the game, hands down, and one of the best I know of.

It's been fun.

I got the impression that none of the ascians liked eachother (although the japanese version calling Mitron and Logriff "a friendly duo" contradicts that a little). My head-canon is that being tempered by zodiark made them disregard anything but him as important. All of their past loyalties or friendships shoved to the wayside and deemed expendable compared to Him.

I doubt it because Emet-selch is entirely defined by his devotion to his people and deceased loved ones. His love for his son nearly got him to give it all up till he died young and from a mundane illness

People tend to forget the nature of the Echo makes their tempering a more ambiguous, especially if the theory all Amaurotians had it like the theory goes.

Okay, that is a good point re. his devotion to Amaurot. And it's true that working with the same people for 10000 years will sour just about any friendship.

Would be really tragic that if they did succeed in reviving their dead race, they would not get along with own people since manipulating for centuries tends to make it hard to make actual friends.

You know speaking of Lahabrea, i was just replaying ARR, and it just occurred to me how much they played up his presence and manipulator status, and in the grand scheme of things, it was his plan that crippled Hydaelyn for the time being which not even Emet-Selch and Elidibus can boast. But after ARR, he was reduced to a joke. Interesting.

Politicking and internal strife from their being an immortal people that can will whatever they want into existence is probably why they're all dead, now.

I like to headcanon that no one ever liked Lahabrea. Not even in Amaurot.

Lahabrea's one good plan was the Heads I Win, Tails You Lose situation in Praetorium, but he didn't even capitalize on it afterwards.

[up]Like i said, despite being called incompetent and a hot head, Lahabrea so far has actually come the closest to killing Hydaelyn. But like you said he failed to capitalize on it, and since Nabriales wasn't aware that the blessing was sealed until he encountered us, WAS COMPLETELY UNAWARE OF IT. That's some level of incompetence right there. Sure casting Ultima was to hurt Her, but he didn't realize what he did. Then again, what does it say about the others, that they didn't realize it too?

He didn't come close to killing her at all. She just couldn't stop a second Ultima from wiping out the rest of that base and the Warriors of Light with it. I never got the impression Hydaelyn herself was in any sort of dangerous in that scenario.

[up] I thought the stress of shielding us really exhausted Hydaelyn? Besides, i really mean, he's so far come the closest to killing her, which might not be that much. Still out of all the Ascians, Lahabrea has actually hurt Hydaelyn.

Whether Ultima damaged Hydaelyn herself, losing the Warrior of Light would have been a massive blow - possibly the most massive, and almost certainly worse than taking a hit herself. If the Warrior of Light died in Praetorium, pretty much everything else would go pretty horrifically.

It's been fun.

I like how Nabriales became extremely proactive about trying to kill the Warrior of Light and stealing the Scions' MacGuffin once he found out. Made me appreciate him more than Lahabrea.

And then when he loses, he's like "Kay, but I'm still immortal. So, y'know, see you tomorrow."

Speaking of Ultima, I remember when ARR was new, we actually wiped to the Ultima spell. Haven't seen that ever since.

The events of the past plus the looooong passage of time probably broke him.

The optional dialogue you get with Emet mentions Lahabrea's constant body-hopping having cost him something.

The japanese dialogue there actually just spells it out and says that "his very self ended up eroding away". Source

Throw in that comment by Yoshida that Lahabrea was a workaholic, and it makes it pretty clear that he broke himself.

Which, also explains why he's just unashamedly evil and not subtly implied to be The Starscream to Zodiark before he got killed in Heavensward, whatever loyalty he had eroded away long ago.
