4.4 MSQ in a nutshell.

I was disappointed Maxima was Sir Not Appearing In This Film.

Also failing to give Shadowhunter voiced dialogue even though we all know he's Gaius.

The Black Rose thing might as well have had klaxon sirens for as heavily as it telegraphed that, not that his identity was ever particularly subtle.

That said, Solus was a surprise. I guess we know why Varis spit on his grave now.

I can't afford to read any spoilers yet, I feel like the them of this patch is "Hey idiots good at the game yet? no? Cool", because I've been walled at every piece of content I've tried.

I had to quit Suzaku because we went out to dinner I probably could have knocked her out if I had stayed.

A2 though was a hard wall, I gave up my fifth group in.

And the burn was reasonable right up until the final boss, which wiped us so much we timed out of the instance after going through at least 6 party members.

Best part of patch: LITTLE SUN.

Magnai used to be the biggest motherfucker in the steppes

then he had his ass handed to him by a foreigner and now he's everyone's punchline

i love it

Y'shtola also commenting that she's become her mother (Or Matoya in this case) was pretty funny.

Magnai has always been the brunt of jokes due to being painfully single, though!

The Burn is the only new content I haven't seen a wipe on yet. Managed to clear everything except EX and Savage, though!

THOSE ALPHASCAPE FIGHTS

Did anyone think Omega's final forms looked like Yoshitaka Amano paintings?

Certainly they were wispy enough.

I can't believe Omega's real goal was becoming a cute anime girl.

Yeah I think the design was the intent. Possibly a nod to the lead male role on the old FF 14 cover art before ARR happened. Did you pay attention where Both Omega-M and Omega-F use our limit breaks and they shout COSMO MEMORY like how people do with macros?

That was my favorite joke of the patch, but everyone keeps talking about Y'shtola dissing Magnai.

To defeat the power of waifu, Omega decided that it must become waifu itself.

So, the line towards the end of the Suzaku fight, where Suzaku (still thinking that the WOL is Tenzen) basically says that if this fight is to be the end of her, she's glad it is Tenzen who does it. Is that a trope? I feel like there's one for that that I could put on her entry in the character pages, but it's not quite I Want My Beloved to Be Happy, yeah?

I think it's more of I Die Free. I don't recall her ever wronging the guy, so perhaps she is wanting him to kill her before she is completely lost, knowing that she'll at least die by her love's hand.

I think it's the inverse of that, she spends the entire fight in a delirium that's you're both Tenzin and in some kind of insanity, I think when she says that near the end she's acknowledging she's failed to "save" you, but is okay with failing if it's him striking her down. I'm a sucker for tragedy so I liked Suzaku's fight and the general story surrounding her better than I have most of the Auspice stuff so far. The translated lyrics to her song, from the chorus line I saw on Reddit, is heartbreaking.

Also, finally got around to the MSQ, I think all my feelings can be summed up with a Precision F-Strike from it.

The Reveal at the end of the MSQ is pretty much a big Base-Breaking Character.

I saw this on the official forums and I had to stop myself from face palming. Someone posts that the difficulty in the game has not increased and explains why. People debate a bit and one guy comes in and basically says this:

"If "casual" players need the current dungeons to be easier, then they need to consider if battle content is for them. There is crafting/gathering/housing/gold saucer and other non battle activities for those who don't want to participate. And I guess Eureka could count as casual because its a test of willpower, not skill."

For context, the Mist Dragon boss in the Burn has given a lot of people trouble due to the tricky AOE attacks, the swooping mechanic being quick, and the Rime Wreath attack hitting hard. That being said, you literally CANNOT skip or refuse to take part in battle content at all. Battles are the main meat of the game and the MSQ is a bare minimum of what you have to do to unlock other content. Telling someone that battle content is not for them is silly XD. Stuff like 8 man raids are optional, but everything else is pretty much mandatory.

MSQ content or not, I don't think it's bad that a party of first-timers take a wipe or two to get the hang of brand-new day-one content.

But even by that standard, the Mist Dragon is absolutely overtuned.

Mist Dragon's super rude, even if I only wiped on it once on my fifth or so run of the dungeon.

Does every attack really need to freeze you and give vulnerability up?

I don't think Mist Dragon is too bad, I mean I rarely get a party that wipes on it more then once.
