Ick, one of those examples (The one about political colors) even admits that it's NOT an example of Eagleland Osmosis.
Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.Natter + real life section = zap.
uhm, does this even have any media examples?
Convert to Useful Notes, maybe?
I'd prefer if we keep it, but I don't think it's a trope. So it needs to be sent somewhere. If not Useful Notes, then Darth Wiki or something.
As for the page's subject itself, this is one of my pet peeves: Here in Sweden, some people actually believe we have juries in court. And every few months on forums for sex ed or related subjects, some random guy just won't stop insisting that the age of consent is 16.
(For some reason, 17 is a less common delusion, in spite of Law And Order being a popular series. And 18 hardly ever pops up, in spite of having some truth to it. In Real Life, minus Eagleland Osmosis, we have two stages of age of consent - 15 and 18, the first being the regular one and the second including some extra protection against exploitation and such.)
There are a couple of media examples buried in the article - the first example listed is a genuinely good illustration of the trope in action.
Of course, it all goes to crap after that.
Like Shakespeare, but with more punchingUseful Notes could be viable. Some of those things I was interested to know (for instance, "Your Honor" or "911" mistakes). Probably more useful for non-Americans who haven't realized some Americanisms don't apply to their country, and simply interesting trivia for Americans (although I think the Useful Notes could expand to include mistakes Americans make from cultural osmosis).
Cut and send back to YKTTW until it can come up with three in media examples.
Fight smart, not fair.Seconding this.
Rhymes with "Protracted."It's obviously something that we ought to have. The description itself is rather straightforward.
It's also been around awhile, so I'd be hesitant to cut so quickly.
Examples listed on the page:
- popular animation series Pasila
- An episode of Blue Heelers
- Rescue 911 included a regular segment with host William Shatner reminding viewers in Australia of the correct number, which is 000.
So there are over three media examples.
The problem is that the example format is so bad that media examples can't be easily found.
Some of the additional commentary is actually interesting and useful. But other large sections are just arguing about political philosophy and/or accusing America of being hypocrites in the war on terror.
Maybe this is a page where the Discussion page could actually be more useful?
Keep the description and media examples on the main page, and just move the rest of the stuff to the discussion page? Maybe with a line on the main page pointing out that more extensive and specific descriptions of this phenomenon are available on the discussion page.

That sounds like it could be a go, although the discussions would be more suited to Troper Tales, wouldn't they?
Like Shakespeare, but with more punchingRight, so I'm not entirely sure how this process works, so bear with me here.
I think the best solution we've got so far is to keep the description and the three media examples, dump all the arguing to Troper Tales and add a note to the description stating that personal experiences are not for the main page.
So, a) do I need a Crowner to confirm this as the plan going forward? and b) If so, how do I create one?
Like Shakespeare, but with more punchingI'm pretty sure you don't need a crowner at least for moving personal things to troper tales; that is what it is for.
Searching for plausible mechanisms.Hope you're right, cause I just pulled all the non-media stuff out and dumped it into Troper Tales.
Turns out there were five media examples buried under all the noise, btw.

Like Shakespeare, but with more punchingThank you!
I think it's partly a page about American media and things that are misunderstood in American media as being global.
Pages that are about media don't need in-media examples. Most examples in Limited Special Collector's Ultimate Edition are examples of special editions, not shows which mention special editions.

There's a real trope in there, but the page is just covered in natter, political arguments and general noise. I genuinely cannot follow the article. So, what do we do? No real life examples seems to be the most obvious idea - is that enough?
