Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Academy: Second Year

NOTE: You don't have to be extremely familiar with the first RP to participate in this one. While some of the backstory will be important, most of this is independant until the end, where (hopefully) everything will have been explained.

After the events during the first semester of last year at Duel Academy, the school has reopened with various staff changes: Barnaby Loatheless has officially become the Slifer Red Male Dorm Head and Overall Dorm Head of Red, with Miss Angela Rath as his teaching assistant and Slifer Female Dorm Head. Miss Blair Flanngan has become the full-time nurse. Benjamin Rex Saturday has become the Ra Yellow Male Dorm Head, and Overall Dorm Head of Yellow, with Miss Anya Teri retaining her place. Vash Goku Armstrong has become the Obelisk Blue Dorm Head, and part of the security force. Cyrus A. Cain has become headmaster, with a mysterious new figure as his personal bodyguard after the demise of River Abel.

As students arrive and settle in, a larger plan is set in motion to draw out the best of them. Cyrus, forced to save face, chooses these students and sends them on a worldwide tour with a secret agenda...

• Duel Disk: A star-shaped one
• Dorm: Headmaster
• Appearance: Since last year, Cyrus has taken almost no care of himself- his hair is a mess, his clothes are always ratty, and he rarely remembers to wear socks. He still always wears his special aviator glasses, though, and carries his cane (he’s blind, for those of you who are new).
• History: Long story short: Cyrus’s life has sucked horrendously up to this point. You can find Eternal Retribution’s sign-up for details, and look over the plot of Eternal Retribution for all the ghastly things I did to him there. He's basically had a running jump past the Despair Event Horizon.
• Deck: “Dark Side Heroes”, an Archfiend deck with Avatar and Earthbound Immortal Ccpac Apu thrown in for good measure.
• Other: Blind, headmaster, crappy life… I think I covered everything. Oh, The Wicked Avatar is a duel spirit.

• Name: Kira-kun/Raito-chan (Rai-chan, to most)
• Gender: Male (Physically, Kira), Female (Raito-chan’s mentality)
• Age: 14
• Appearance: Dyed pink hair (Raito did it and won’t let Kira undo it,) in a ponytail if Raito’s ‘awake’, but amazingly messy if Kira’s ‘awake’, jeans, and a black straitjacket. The straitjacket has the whole ‘sleeve’ torn at the left shoulder, making it one long sleeve for the right arm. It is tied in a Monkey’s Fist knot at the end, making it a whip-like… thing. S/He always wears rollerblades (at least, nobody has ever seen him/her take them off). They seem to lock and unlock by themselves. His/Her eyes are naturally a baby blue, but Kira puts a contact in his right eye that makes it yellow, with a cat-slit pupil. S/He also wears what looks like an electronic eyepatch. If it’s over the left eye, Kira’s ‘awake’. Over the right eye, and Raito’s ‘awake’.
• Dorm: Teaching the Obelisk Blue dorms (yes, he’s only 14)
• Key Card: The Tyrant Neptune (Kira), The Splendid Venus (Raito)
• Duel Disk: Their rollerblades are their disks, relying completely on holographic cards. They also utilize S.W.O.R.D. for various reasons.
• History: Legally both Cyrus’s younger brother and now son, Kira and Raito were born in Italy to a Japanese father and Italian mother. Their original name is unknown. Before their first birthday, their mother was killed by the mafia, and he and his father fled to Japan. When he was five, he came home to his father dead and a man from the Yakuza, who ‘took him in’. The only thing that kept them sane during the next few years was Duel Monsters. When they managed to escape a few years later, they were shot down… in front of Cyrus and River, who saved their life. Cyrus convinced his parents to adopt the boy, making him Cyrus and River’s legal brother… but the psychological trauma had finally snapped him in two. Kira represents the dark half of his personality, with an Animal Motif of sharks, while Raito represents the good half, happy and Moe Moe. When Cyrus was disowned last year, he took legal custody of them, making them his legal sons. They finally came to the Independent Nation of Academia Island this year.
• Deck: Kira runs a shark-themed Atlantis deck (‘Fangs of the Emperor), while Raito uses a healing/Fairy deck (Saving Light).
• Other: If you read this spoiler and aren't the Co-GM, you will die a horrible death. This is here to prove it’s true, considering how far-fetched it is. Both arms, his forelegs down, and his ribcage are all mechanical, a la River. His right arm is obviously mechanical, if anyone ever saw it; it also hides a sniper rifle that only has rubber bullets to disarm, since Cyrus doesn’t want anybody hurt- that would screw up his treaties that keep everybody alive. His left arm, however, is easily passable as a real arm. His legs are the most obvious, however; his skates are wired directly into his nervous system, allowing him to use the motors and brakes in them naturally.

NOTE 2: I have chosen my Co-GM. His/Her identity will be kept secret until the time comes. ANY DISCUSSION OF THE IDENTITY OF THE CO-GM IS FORBIDDEN.

NOTE 3: DUEL SPIRITS ARE ALLOWED THIS TIME, BECAUSE THE CURSE HAS BEEN CLEANSED! YAY!

NOTE 4: If needed, I'll write up bios for the rest of the staff, but these two will be the most prominent.

• Duel Disk: Gold, jewel incrusted Duel Disk in the shape of an 'S'
• Dorm: Obelisk
• Appearance: Short, shaggy blond hair. Ice blue eyes. Restructured nose. Slightly taller than average. Wears a custom form of the Obelisk trenchcoat, with a gold 'S' emblazed on it.
• History: Sean Abue has lived his life in the lap of luxury. His rich family heads up a powerful advertising agency that has many clients. Sean has not really had much trouble in his life save for the time he got into a fight in his private school. He left the fight with a broken nose and a kid sent to the hospital. However, his tendencies are less violent and more proud and snobby. He isn't too bright despite the private tutors his parents employ, but they don't mind seeing as he is the face for some of their clients and doesn't need smarts for that.
• Sean has found Duel Monsters to be an entertaining sport and hobby and was quite interested in joining the Duel Academy. While his skills are not professional level, he surprisingly placed in the Blue dorm. This was particularly funny since his parents were prepared to buy him a seat in the upper dorm.
• While not as rich as Cyrus once was, Sean has no problem flaunting quite a large amount of money as his family is one of the richest in North America, if not the world.
• Other: He's incredibly snobby about being rich and is a bit of a flirt. However, his idea of reality is quite skewered and can be easily confused when money doesn't answer a problem.

• Gender: Male
• Age: 15 Did I ever mention his age last time? i think it was 14... but I forget, 'cause it wasn't on my last sign-up... >.<
• Duel Disk: The Duel-Academy Standard
• Dorm: Ra Yellow
• Appearance: Scott is a short, thin, boyish-looking guy. He's most often remembered(secondly to his narcolepsy) for his royal blue hair, which deeply contrasts both his naturally tan skin and his light blue eyes. Clothing-wise, he tens to wear a pair of jeans and white, short-sleeved shirt, with his Ra Yellow vest proudly shown. He also wears yellow sneakers.
• History: He's had a good life, but was diagnosed with Narcolepsy at age 10. He's worked hard since then as he's become infatuated with the game, but underwent a rough, depressed patch right after his diagnosis. At that time, he relied on his cousin, Milton Harold, to be his rock. He introduced him to the game for real, as well as gave him his first Stardust Dragon.
• Other: Read this spoiler without being a GM or the co-GM, and you will DIE. Or at least be Mind Raped. Milton is not a nice person. He's in fact, pure evil. Scott does not know this, and when he does, will either: A) lose all faith in himself and the world or B) beat Milton up, depending on the circumstance. There'd be more on that, but I'm not sure what to do with him now that the Cult is MIA and he was originally written for that.... Also, non-spoiler, Scott will fall asleep at inconvenient and convenient times. And he's a Determinator, as well as psycho about giving up. The word "Forfeit" is not in his vocabulary.
• Deck:

^^^ Cyrus is comparably broke now that his family's disowned him. He only has the island, so your char might actually be as rich if not richer than him. Also, accepted.

^^ The security force isn't open to students, Nick.

^ Accepted once you get your deck up. And you might want to mention River kinda chose him as his successor and called him the Duelist with the most potential of his generation, something River knew rather well.

@SI, So is that a negatory on helping me with my new deck? D:

And any thoughts on the spoiler? I mean, I don't want to make all that plotting for nothing, now that a sequel is up...

I figured you can just use your old deck, but I could help you if you really needed it.

If you have any ideas for the spoiler, PM them to me and I'll work it out to fit here.

Okay, so, I'm just going to use Blake again, then. Not enough time has passed for him to pass the torch to Anna, anyway. :3

Since he can't actually attend the Academy, Blake will be more of a background character, unless at some point there's an oppurtunity for him to show up abroad (when/if the students are sent abroad for Cyrus' "secret agenda" mentioned in the first post).

Instead, I'll be using Anna, who is exactly the minimum age for attending! Normally, Blake wouldn't let her so far outside his sight, but given that he's been in a good mood lately, Anna's been so persistent, and he has a base on the island anyway, he agreed to her demands to join.

Blake is loaning her his deck until I stop being a lazy bastard and bother to create another one until she has the time to gather enough cards and build a deck that feels right for her.

FFFFFFFFFFFFF- seriously? How did I never find this card, in all my searching for cards that would fit well with my heal/burn strategy? Must. Add. Now.

Sounds interesting. I'd like to take part in this, although I may not be overly active (job hunting). That should hopefully be less of a problem once I find a job.

Also, I read a bit of the previous RP, is this going to be as, how shall I put this...I can't think of a way to word this so I'll just leave a link here, ehehe...

• History: Michael was never any good at studying; he was always distracted by other things. Sometimes girls, sometimes card games...he generally had more luck with the latter, coming first in many local tournaments, thus feeding his ego. His parents, recognizing that with his lacking grades there was little chance of their son making it in the real world, decided to have him take the entrance exams for Duel Academy. He barely passed the written exam and almost lost the practical, although if you ask him, he was just putting on a show and could’ve won at any point.
• Other: He's got a massive ego and believes himself to be one of the greatest duelists ever, despite his low standing dormwise. He's a bit of a Handsome Lech. Has a low opinion of anyone unless they a) beat him in a duel, or b)have breasts.

@Nick: You have to be a student.

^Looks good. And this will be a bit darker than the general tone of the last one, but not as dark as the worst parts. Ex: Look at Cyrus. He was suicidal at the end of the last one, and has barely gone outside or eaten for almost a year. However, his eyes won't make an appearance, and Rai-chan's breaking won't be a plot point.

^ Groovy, count me in then.

Also (dammit, I've gotta stop starting paragraphs with 'Also'), I'm trying to decide between a Garlandorf/Djinn deck and a Divine Grace - Northwemko deck. On one hand, I could probably do something interesting with the Northwemko deck (once I work out what it is), but Garlandorf seems to fit more with his Jerkass personality. Any thoughts? Should I just flip a coin to decide? Or should I go with something completely different (like the aforementioned Ojamas)?

I say go with whatever. It's your choice.

I loathe Northwemko. I just hate it sooo much...

Also, (I seem to have the same curse with the whole starting paragraphs, thing), Great Maju Garzett = Awesome in my Fiend deck. Summon Goblin Elite Attack Force or Giant Orc and BAM! Next turn you have a 4400ATK monster with no bad side effects.

But yes, he is indeed. One time I got him to 9000ATK with the help of a Deadroot/Dreadroot/Bob + Axe of Despair.

By the way, Fiber Jar is currently Forbidden, isn't it?

• Gender: Male
• Age: 18
• Duel Disk: Common Duel Academy Duel Disk.
• Dorm: Ra
• Appearance: Ryoga is a handsome...ish, person. Long brown hair that hangs in front of his eyes and wear shis ra clothing inside out, to "make a fashion statement" if not more the fact he had no fashion at all. Has a pair of glasses, green eyes, relatively short.
• History: Ryoga...is not a unique individual. He's a very slack worker but by no means lazy, his pasttime is dueling and being a nuisance. HIs father and mother sent him off to Duel Academy to get him out of their hair and Ryoga, not one to argue, just went with it.

I know, Giery is a student. A Ra Yellow, he is essentially an Evil Frog Wants To Be An Ox. He thinks Harmine has him as her Dragon, in reality, he's just her eyes among the students and a lackey. He gets worse later on. Complete Monster worse.

...I'm fairly sure that SI said a number of posts up that we were dropping a lot of the Darker and Edgier stuff. My first instinct tells me I'm not entirely sure the trope present in your spoiler would work with this RP. Big Bad Wannabe? Maybe, depending on how SI sees it.

I know he's (SI) got some over-arching plot in mind, but I'm hoping that on the whole this RP can be more lighthearted. Less character development through horrific events, and more dueling for fun rather than for saving the world. Of course, I'm sure things will end up with us saving the world anyway... :P

Maybe we could even have a Tournament Arc! Although that might be sort of pointless.

^ I kinda assumed he meant that the Cyrus vs Angie level of Grimdark wasn't going to be present, but that it would still be darker than the original...may have misread though.

Also(Argh!), is it just me or are there a lot of Ra Yellow characters?
