Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

I wonder if the new DLC will update the ending?
Ah well, can't wait to see Leviathan.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. They already confirmed that they’re not changing the ending but there will be a sort of “epilogue” sidequest after completing both DL Cs
GOH! JII! RAH!Interesting.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. If I had to guess, probably making more explicit that all the work that goes into setting the seeds for mankind's survival and resurgence in the lategame sidequests bears fruit. No Endor Holocaust and all that. I saw a fair few people wondering "well, is the world entirely fucked now or what?"
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Battle against Leviathan; spoilers for The Rising Tide, obviously
He's a boy in this game. Leviathan constantly switching sexes between titles makes me think you could make a joke about them being "gender fluid" if you wanted.

Heart of StoneWell I guess that confirms the Eikons have their own genders that can be separate from their Dominants.
Meaning it was entirely possible to have a male Dominant of Shiva.

Disgusted, but not surprisedCan we put spoilers behind tags, please?
People don't necessarily want to be spoiled by this, especially when the DLC is so new.
Jeez, I came in late so I avoided spoilers, but uhhh why would you post the FF XVI video about the DLC that's come out very recently in the FF general thread where most people haven't even played the game because they don't have a PS 5?
Shouldn't this be on the FF XVI thread since it's a very specific and recent release?
Just throwing it out there.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. It’s fine to post the video as long as it specifies its spoilers and doesn’t mention anything really important in the title or thumbnail. Like why they’re fighting or what’s going on beyond the boss fight everyone knew would happen.
Everyone knew there would be a Leviathan boss fight after all, just not why they’re fighting.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Judging by the fact a mod had to step in, and there's tropers who had to spoiler their posts, I think there were people who openly talked about spoilers before the edit.
But honestly, I think further discussion should be on the FF XVI. There are too many people here who haven't played the new game or DLC.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Yeah the spoilers themselves were separate from the boss fight in question but pertained to Leviathan in the series as a whole, with spoilers relating to its existence in XVI.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Square Enix have been bloody idiots with this timed exclusivity.
Life is more fun with infinite MP.Like spoiler tag videos if they are blatant spoilers like that... especially when they have such spoilery thumbnails ffs.
So how are the sales for Rebirth out of curiosity?
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Half of what Remake did, however PS 5 only so lower user install base. But also less than what XVI.
Sony had better have paid like hundreds of millions to cover it.
Ooof, I guess Yoshi P's work and innovation is more profitable than retreading past success.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. Can we blame this on "retreading past success" or did many people actually get turned off after the first game revealed it wasn't a straight remake?
And XVI's sales were themselves already underwhelming for a AAA game, so things aren't looking good Square Enix.
Square Enix said outright that FFXVI performed within expectations and even more recently said it succeeded at bringing in Younger players.
They're fine for now.
Watch SymphogearThey literally said XVI didn't meet their expectations. Of course they couched it in saying it didn't meet the "high end" of their expectations, but it's hard to read that as anything other than "the game didn't bomb but didn't do as good as we wanted". Especially when their stocks dropped hard after they announced the sales and basically all Japanese publications were reporting on it negatively.
I'm sure this is just setup for their relevantly timed NFT game.
Bleye knows Sabers.I mean, it felt like XVI just came and went. Like it released, people went "Well, that happened" and just moved on.
-Witty line-Personally… I think it’s more just the absolute failure of the PS 5 and ‘exclusives’. If they did a multi platform release they would hit Remake numbers or better.
When there are only a 3rd as many consoles out there, selling half as many units is a success but… not when the game costs so much more to makes.
That’s pretty much every non live service game.

So, reading this recent conversation and ... I guess anyone who actually enjoys turn-based combat should just leave now, huh?
"If you are going through hell, keep going." - Winston Churchill
I think that'd probably take a very different approach that the one XVI took. There was a bit of a Colossus Climb going on in one of the final fights, but the Eikon fights' scale is on another level, especially since you control a kaiju yourself.
Good point about the portion between the Temple of the Ancients and the Northern Crater. Unless they padded the hell out of it (and well, that wouldn't be surprising), the nadir of Cloud's mental decay would take place fairly early into the game. Considering how ominous the bit with Cloud finding the Black Materia and it melding into the Buster Sword was, and how Tifa is in a very bad place at the end of Rebirth, I can see the first act building up to that downfall, Tales-style.
