Because Kinkajou told me to.

So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?

My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.

I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

I'm just telling you what everyone here said back in 2011 or 2012. I don't know what's right or not.

In the Vile Peaks when you have no Commando, you just have Vanille use Saboteur and it still works. I wish I'd learnt this on my first playthrough years ago, it would have saved me so much time.

It's a vid the XIV devs did messing around with the models and attack animations, it's not a real game.

Seriously, Dissidia is great and all, but I'd totally buy a game like that if it had characters from all the games.

That XIV fight is what I wanted Dissidia to be. Just, maybe if they went easy on the minute plus long finishing move animation.

I honestly wonder what other kinds of crossover SE could do with its characters. We have the fighting game, the rhythm game, the RPG...maybe a T-RPG?

Oh, I know. A Dating Sim.

Titan is probably a sweet dude as long as you leave the Kobolds in peace.

Garuda however...

Nomura and Sakurai talk SSB4. We could've gotten Terra or Bartz instead of Cloud but Sakurai thought no one would know those characters(Nomura's desire to do a faithful remake of V and VI after VII now makes sense and would probably fix that).

I think this random NPC in Nautilus just said they want to go to the Fiendlord's Keep. I def don't remember that, probably because when I first played XIII I hadn't yet played CT.

So it's all Fang's fault, really. Vanille is there, ridden with guilt, but it was Fang who was going on and on about LET'S DESTROY THE FAL'CIE. And surprise, the fal'Cie responded and made Dahj a l'Cie.

I'm right before the first Bart fight now, stopping because the trek through the Palamecia wiped me out. If nothing else, my secondrun has made me like Lightning more than I used to. XIII Lightning, that is. Or rather, Claire. Lightning is shit.

So I'm cool with using her in my party the rest of the gae and I gotta figure out who the second and third slot will go to. I want to usee new people but I need my SAB and the only other one is Fang. Yeah, that ain't gonna happen. I guess Lightning/Sazh/Vanille is a good team but the fights on the way to Bart made me realize something. I have no SEN and Sazh's Synergist Abilities are all offensive. Haste is good all-around of course and I'd love to have that but the fact is, I feel like damage output is not the problem. After all, with Hope's Protect and Shell and whatever else on us, we can deal more damage because we'll live longer without having to waste time healing.

EDIT:

Beat him on my first attempt. Only 3 stars though, probably because I spent a lot of time making sure to re-buff myself. I really hate how this game punishes you for being smart. I don't have a clue why this fight gave me so much trouble in my first run. I could have sworn he has a big move that fucks you up and resets his chain gauge. I mean, it looked like he was charging up for something a couple times but you can knock him out of it. No idea why I didn't do that my first time playing XIII.

Vanille as a sabotuer only works against one enemy. She prioritizes debuffs over stabilization, so in a multi-man battle, she'll only hit the main target once.

Of course, it's been ages since I last played that chapter, so I don't know how effective it actually is, just that it is, technically, unreliable.

Well I wouldn't be, and haven't been, wasting time using debuffs against trash mobs. I use SAB against strong enemies and bosses, which I'm pretty sure is the intent.

Speaking of which, I gotta upgrade her staff that improves debuffing. It took her way too long to get stuff on Bart, even while he was staggered. I had her using the healing staff for the fight.

Oh and I could always just control Vanille myself. That would help.

Are you guys still playing Record Keeper? With the new Orb Conversion update, finally daily dungeons feel like concrete steps towards improving your skills and not simple slot-machine draws.

Honestly, I wouldn't have bet on still playing a game such as this after this many months. °° The people behind balancing gameplay and improving user experience knows their jobs.

Still, screw the stupid equipment roulette. :( It's been a long while since I've gotten something that I actually wanted.

At least they give out plenty of Mythril for the Equipment Gatcha and you pretty much get one a day when you've played long enough. Certainly more than I can say for certain Cell Phone games with Gatcha.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.

I still play! I got two milestones last month, after playing since last June.

  • One month ago, for the first time, I got the item I wanted from a banner (Rinoa's Cardinal - I wanted it since I already had Hope's Skycutter, so now both Rinoa and him can use two good mage weapons). I even got Vivi's Cypress Pile on a later pull, so now I am covered when it comes to mage stuff. And Rinoa's Phantasm SB looks cool. I haven't played VIII - is she on some kind of magic carpet?
  • Two days ago, I got my first Unique AOE Heal - but it's Tyro's Healing Grimoire, so it's the worst on the market. Still, better than nothing I guess.

Now I think I'll save for the SSB event and hope to grab a Wall or Hastega, because Ultimate without those is impossible - unless you are ready to spend hours and hours and hours on S/L, which I am definitely not. The difficulty increase between +++ and Ultimate is impressive, I wrecked Cid Raines with a team I was pretty much using to level up (only lost one damage medal), but I never managed to remove more than half of Barthandelus' health.

I feel like R4 4-stars abilities are mandatory to tackle ultimate, and I mostly have those at 2 or 3 when I have them. Haven't checked orb conversion yet, maybe it'll help, I still have next to 10 million gil to waste - but I didn't do much of the last three stages of orbfest, so I don't have that many orbs in stock, at least not the ones that count (Power & Black).

Right now I can reliably complete + and ++ stages, with +++ depending on realm and type of boss. I've never even looked funny at an Ultimate boss. :/

I feel I'm at the stage where I should choose a few good characters, powerlevel them up to level 65+ and start including them in most parties instead of having everybody in the 50-55 range and basing parties around synchrony. But I like my all-realm parties. :(

I guess I will start choosing some "all-star" characters as soon as I get a really gamechanging Soul Break or a SSB.
