Hey, this would be a very minor addition to The Six Stats but in case this was gravely offensive to the true spirit of roleplaying I thought I'd ask about prior approval.

In JRPG's, which are often less focused on roleplay, they often either use Intelligence and Wisdom for magic attack and defense or replace them with a similar magic attack/defense stat, and a lot of games also have separate health and defense stats instead of one Constitution stat.

Could I add those in. I don't have to mention JRPG's specifically if that causes a whole thing, just:

"sometimes used as or replaced with Magic Attack" for Int,

"Sometimes used as or replaced with Magic Defense" for Wisdom,

and "sometimes split into Health and Physical Defense" for Constitution.

Examples: Pokemon(Special Attack/Special Defense), Fire Emblem (Magic and Resistance), Chrono Trigger (Magic and Magic Defense), Octopath Traveler (Elemental Attack/Defense), Dragons Dogma(Magick Attack/Defense), at least some Final Fantasy(Magic and Spirit in VII).

I'm not usually involved in game related affairs, but I wonder if the JRPG stat system should be its own page.

The page has a Five-Man Band-type problem where the description wants it to be about these six stats, while the examples are "any system with six stats, and we can be lenient about the 'six'".

We should decide on one approach or the other and stick with it.

^ It doesn't help the vagueness that the description also has a line stating that basically all of them can be swapped out/renamed without violating the spirit of it, and also implies that all other stat systems are basically derived from these stats, hence my desire to fit some common JRPG stats into the model.

I think the entire page needs to get reworked to be more like Stock RPG Spells or Status Effects, i.e. a super trope of common stats and how they're used. A lot of examples are just "here are the names of the stats", which is pretty useless when there's a lot more to a stat system than just the names.

[up]I agree with this. While it's common for there to be six stats, Pokémon uses five (four in Pokémon Red and Blue—"Special" got broken into "Special Attack" and "Special Defense" beginning in Pokémon Gold and Silver) while Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay and its spinoffs have eight stats (combat hit chances are governed by Ballistic and Weapon Skill instead of Str and Dex like in D&D), and Star Trek Adventures has Control, Fitness, Presence, Daring, Insight, and Reason instead of Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma.

Okay, so if the page is both kind of vague and riddled with ZCE's and misuse cases, we should probably take it to the repair shop. But the TRS is, as usual, full, so, do we just put a pin in it and wait for an opening, or just start a wick-check on this page, or work on a sandbox for a new Stock Stat (or Stock RPG Stat) page?

I think the best way is to use this thread to discuss how to deal with it—stat system needs to be discussed on this wiki, but we're not sure how.
