One of the many site updates Kory plans to push in the near future is for everyone's user creation to be publicly displayed. However, we didn't start to record user creation dates until sometime pre-2010, so accounts older than that get internally labeled as being created 1/1/2001 even though the site didn't exist back then. So, kory asked me to make this thread on his behalf so that we can get community input on what we should do with accounts that were created pre-2010

Everyone will have the option to just show their regular date OR a drop-down list of options based on their account age such as: (Current Options)

- 5,841 accounts have logged in this year that are > 12 years old
- 7,837 accounts have logged in this year that are > 11 years old
- 10,390 accounts have logged in this year that are > 10 years old
- 19,663 accounts have logged in this year that are > 7 years old
- 24,102 accounts have logged in this year that are > 5 years old
- 28,639 accounts have logged in this year that are > 3 years old
- 31,356 accounts have logged in this year that are > 2 years old
- 34,476 accounts have logged in this year that are > 1 years old
- 7,921 accounts have logged in this year that are < 1 years old
So 42,397 users have logged in this year.

Great suggestions so far! Will probably have this up another week before pushing to review.
EDIT: Looking at the troper database table it looks like only around 1,000 accounts are older than 15 years (since tracking didnt start until 2010ish), 20,000 accounts are older than 13 years and 60,000 older than 12 years. So i switched the >15 years to be >13 years so a good chunk of older users actually get access to those options.
it was also brought to my attention that people with the 2001 date accounts and people who have 15+ years overlap in account age so both should get all of the created date options.

I could also put up other year choices that people will get access to in the future.
Added another timeframe: > 7 years = ("Rule of Seven","Seven Years' War") since the gap between 5 and 10 is pretty big. Could use some more choices for it.

Would need something less-specific. My account, for instance, will be 8 years old soon, so the joke doesn't work. Maybe something like "Trying for its driver's license" or "Old enough to know right from wrong"?

The choices are to indicate that your account is at least that old. Such as the "Fifth year at trophy's" for > 5 years or “Rule of three” for > 3 years.
"Trying for its drivers license" Would work for >15 years but its a little long.

None of the users created dates go back that far. It’s mentioned in the OP. Oldest accounts in the DB are only around 15 years old and there’s no way of knowing what the real age of users with the 2001 created date is.
But if you or anyone else wanted to come up with ideas that no one will have access to for awhile that’s also fine.

Once I push up this change we can always add choices in the future. Since the code for it is already done, doing an insert statement into the database with more choices is effortless. I just wanted a good base of choices to start with. So if we get a bunch of people with good suggestions after it’s live we can still add them.

LOL. My account is bang on 2010, as prior to that you didn't need to sign in to edit. I could have had one with a funky broken year as I was here for quite some time beforehand.
Those Wild West days of the site were... something else, to put it mildly. We've come a long way.
Perhaps "Season 1B" for two-year accounts? Because for many shows (and especially those on streaming services), "Season 2" is just the back half of Season 1 under a different name.

I'm finished with this task besides how it will look. The "since: date" seems fine, but im not sure what to make it look like with the custom text. I'm removing the "since:" because "Since: The New Guy" and most of the other options doesn't make sense. Any suggestions?

Amonimus, ah that would work for the smaller text options. The longest one we have is "Experienced, Not Yet Jaded" though, so i'll see how it turns out with the longer ones.
I'm also bringing back badges below everyone's picture like how it is in the main forums. So i'm not sure how cluttered we can make it below the avatar.
