1.2 for me. In this case I don't personally think we lose anything due to the crop (although I'm usually a fan of keeping comic covers intact)

This is at the clocking point. 1.2 is fine, it's in and tagged. Closing.

This is the original X-Force series - for those not familiar with the Marvel Comics franchise, it's the one where a bunch of the X-Men's teenage trainees left to follow the mysterious Cable, a Superhero Packing Heat and '90s Anti-Hero. Published at the point at which comic writers got sidelined in favor of superstar artists, and one of the peaks of The Dark Age Of Comic Books.
1.1 - current image (landscape cover of issue #1).
1.2 - Epic collection cover (cropped)
1.3 - Epic collection cover (as published)
A couple of related thoughts -
- The series ran for over ten years, and artist Rob Liefeld was gone by the second year. However, he launched the run, and he's indelibly associated with it, so I felt it should use his art, not one of his successors.
- Cable is probably the most famous character of the run, even if he wasn't always in the comic. So a picture of Cable with eye glowing, shoulder pads and big guns seemed appropriate.
There's no shortage of other possible images, even if you just look at covers, but finding one that showcased Cable and a couple of the other core cast seemed to reduce the options a lot.
