Cleanup Thread: MCU Character Pages

Should “The” be in the title for the high evolutionary’s page? Also I’m not sure if his name is the same as in the comics. I’ve seen other sources use Herbert Edgar Wyndham as his name like in the comics. I don’t remember actually hearing it in the film but maybe someone else spotted it used.

Also in the first guardians film Rocket’s homeworld is listed as Halfworld. So unless they retconned it I’m not entirely sure where Lylla, Teefs, and Floor should go. Although they did die on Counter-Earth, and spent presumably a lot of time there. So the previous idea of listing them under Counter-Earth would be good. Although I’m also open to just moving them to just straight Cosmic under Orgocorp.

The MCU Wiki and Marvel Database doesn’t include the "The" in his page so I’m down to rename him.

I think changing The High Evolutionary's name to remove "the" is kinda superfluous. Plus, it's more-or-less there whenever someone refers to him, so it'd be weird to just have High Evolutionary.

At no point in the film does the High Evolutionary go by the name Herbert Wyndham, so I don't think he has that name in the MCU.

Listing Rocket's friends under Orgocorp implies that they work for the High Evolutionary like Theels and the other scientists, so I'm against classifying them under that. I prefer Counter-Earth because that's where all of the High Evolutionary's experiments live, including those still being experimented on in his dome-ship.

It goes along with the naming convention we have now, The Hand became Hand and The Skrulls became Skrulls which is a case in favor of removing it but at the same time not all pages got their "the" removed like The Lighthouse which is a case in favor of keeping it. Let’s be democratic and vote for it. One in favor of removing the "the", one in favor of keeping it.

Any thoughts on a good closing quote for The High Evolutionary?

I think the one that sticks out the most is "THERE IS NO GOD! THAT'S WHY I STEPPED IN!"

Oh I like that one.

And having just seen the film, it's quite obvious that he's a Human Alien who only feels an affinity for Earth culture, so there's no reason he'd have the name of his actually human comics counterpart in the first place.

And he said that after the last Thor movie showed Zeus.

Personally I view that as saying there is no capital G omnipotent God. Every other deity scene beyond Eternity has been fallible. Also HE is an insane perfectionist with a gif complex so of course he’s say that.

Regarding the “the” in title names, what is our policy on that? Are we going to implement something on that? Because it’s not hard to just ask the mods to migrate a couple of pages. I’m against the “The” because I can see people forgetting the “The” when linking to the pages.

We have plenty of pages that start with "the". Just look at the many characters pages that just are about "the" Joker.

I'm fine with "The", but honestly, I'd rather have all of Orgocorp split off instead of just the HE. Something like Characters.MCU Orgocorp or something.

How big is Orgocorp without him? Personally I am fine with the High Evolutionary be separate considering HE is bigger than some of the other pages such Ego and is still growing.

I know there’s no policy regarding the “The”, but I’m trying to keep things uniform and be proactive towards tropers who want to link towards the page. That’s why I think we should either implement a policy to include or exclude the “The”.

Regarding Orgocorp, besides the top brass, it doesn’t seem like the company is evil, and a lot of the workers are just Punch-Clock Villains. It also is most likely assuredly not long enough to have a page, considering most of them are minor characters. I think they should all be moved to the straight Cosmic page. Also separating Counter-Earth from Orgocorp. I feel Orgocorp experiments should be listed under it though.

Making a policy regarding "The" appearing in character pages seems like a general wiki topic that should be brought up elsewhere. As Bullman mentioned, there are countless character pages with "The" in their name, so limiting MCU characters from having it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me as of this moment.

I've made a character page for Counter-Earth on the main Cosmic page, though I haven't listed the Humanimals there yet. I might move over Rocket's batch friends if people are cool with it.

And yeah, I don't mind Orgocorp being moved to Cosmic as well, since most of the inhabitants outside of the High Evolutionary's fellow scientists are indeed just Punch Clock Villains.

It's over 80,000 bytes and still growing. I'm not in favor of cutting an already made page that is well over the limit just because they are part of a company or group. By that logic we should make a group page for Arthur Harrow's group because if we added him with them it wouldn't be to big. Again I think we can keep the High Evolutionary as his own page.

If I could ask what is the harm with him having a page? It follows most of our guidelines from what I can tell. It's well over 40,000 bytes, the original page is big enough, and from what I can tell most of the examples aren't misuse.

It's just that...it seems odd to split him off from Orgocorp (and incidentally, we don't have to cut the current page; we could just make it a redirect).

Orgocorp isn't all that big a deal though, is it? When people think of who created Rocket and serves as the Big Bad of Vol. 3, they're more likely to think of the High Evolutionary himself, rather than his shell company that only gets a little bit of focus early in the movie.

Thus, the High Evolutionary having his own page seems more beneficial than keeping him with Orgocorp in my mind.

THE has only appeared in one movie and he has so many spoiler tags should we unmark all his spoilers and just put all spoilers are unmarked on top of it because I feel like marking spoilers is a waste of time in his page when most of what we should know about him is a spoiler
