For the very first time in history, Wonder Woman is getting her own video game, courtesy of Monolith.

So far we have a teaser.

So they are using the Nemesis System they developed for their Middle-Earth games here too.

So that should be very interesting.

Ahahaha finally a DC game that is in no way, shape, or form related to Batman on any level. We have finally reached the promised land. [tup] [awesome]

What exactly is the Nemesis system? I didn't play the Middle-Earth games.

From the game's page here.

"The standout feature in this game is the Nemesis system, which keeps track of ranked members of Sauron's army and their advancement through it. It also keeps track of the player's relationship with them, where the Uruks will remember their previous encounters with the player and respond accordingly. If a random enemy happens to defeat the player, then he will rise through the ranks, gain a name and a title, and will endeavor to continue his own personal rise towards the rank of Warchief. The player can then encounter them in later events or just randomly happen across them while exploring the world. As they rise through the ranks, they gain strengths and lose weaknesses, so repeatedly losing fights against a specific Uruk can end up creating a rather threatening enemy."

Basically a sort of procedural generation with mooks and bosses allowing a wide variety of different types of characters to be formed with their own unique personalities, names, and ways to interact with the main character.

Here's some encounters.

There's a lot to this. The second game even had instances where you can mind control an overlord's mooks which when raiding his fortress he can discover the spy and kill him....... or he can basically kill off a random orc of his who wasn't your spy. Its incredibly detailed and is what lead to the Monolith's Middle-Earth games to be massively acclaimed.

Practically everyone agrees that the Orc's steal the show and are the highlight of both games.

That and very few of her rogues are popular.

Amusingly the Nemesis System may mean she will be dealing with villains who have resurrective immorality. While she can permanently put them down, she will be plagued by having to constantly kill the same people over and over again.

Since this deals with Themsycria.

I think either Circe or Ares as Big Bad.

I can see them adapting the invasion of Themsycria by a group of supervillains. So well get Doctor Poison, Silver Swan and Doctor Cyber too.

Edit : Add In doctor psycho, Maxwell lord and Cheetah and that's about the only villains from her that people actually like.

God, what an incredibly elitist, mean-spirited, & petty mindset to have.

There's a reason why so many of these characters struggle to be relevant back then.

Maybe it will be like the "recruitment" system from Shadow of Mordor, where you use the Lasso of Truth to make henchmen submit to good. William Moulton Marston would be...pleased.

Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.

I kind of would have wanted a game similar to DMC or Bayonetta but I am glad this is happening at all.

If anyone on the DC side can have Stylish Action game, it should be Diana.

As far I'm concerned, it stops at her.

I'd add Katana, Cassandra Cain and Black Canary to that list if they were to ever get their own games.

FREAKING.

FINALLY.

GOD.

I am immensely pleased. This game is gonna rock.

I kind of would have wanted a game similar to DMC or Bayonetta but I am glad this is happening at all.

I mean... Are we sure it ain't? While some features will undoubtedly take cues from Shadow of Mordor I'm certain they will not be making that game with a Wondy skin over top. Stealth is sure to not be a major feature for Diana, that's for sure.

If anyone on the DC side can have Stylish Action game, it should be Diana.

As far I'm concerned, it stops at her.

It's absolutely the best way to utilize the character, yeah.

I'd add Katana, Cassandra Cain and Black Canary to that list if they were to ever get their own games.

Well, that last part is the key ain't it? [lol] Anyways I don't know if I agree, since all three of those girls are somewhat "Grounded" by being a shade of Badass Normal (At least when it comes to pure fisticuffs) while I think a real Stylish Action game needs a protagonist that can absolutely make the laws of physics their bitch.

[up] Infamous ain't a DMC or Bayonetta style game tho.

[up] In fairness, Cass has a ridiculous amount of Charles Atlas Superpower.

I'm sure some people thought the same of Dracula and we got stealth sections for Lords of Shadow 2tongue.

But we'll see.

I would argue why it would be better for Katana, Cass Cain, & Black Canary to have an Arkham/Middle-Earth-like game than a Stylish Action one but I really don't care.

Honestly if any of those characters move like this, I just wouldn't mind at the end of the day. I'm sure the purists would bitch about it, but I just don't care.

@angry-trooper I mean it’s what everyone’s been asking for.

Pretty much a universal complaint from pretty much everyone is how only Batman and Batman periphery characters only ever get games barring some crossover affairs like the Lego DC games and Injustice.

The Arkham series going to its 5th installment in Suicide Squad and Gotham Knights, so it’s awesome to finally have a game that isn’t about or related to a character who is overused.

So it's Wonder Woman meets the Arkham games.

The recent LOTR games took a lot from the Arkham games' combat system.

I mean, Wonder Woman meets Shadows of Mordor apparently.

Which sucks because I got really bored of that one - kill everybody in the Nemesis system and they just plop in a few more - but the combat itself was plenty satisfying at the time.

I can't see Wonder Woman in the Arkham games format. For Batman it works because he only needs to perform so many superhuman feats while basically being a ninja - so superhero Sam Fisher/Solid Snake/every other stealth game ever.

Diana:

  • wrestled with alligators
  • tussled with a whale
  • She done handcuffedlasso'd some lightning
  • and threw Thunder in jail

And by that I mean there's such an incredible range of things she could do in any environment that would be logistically problematic for an Arkham game.

@slimcoder

So what?

That's still the kind of attitude puts people off. You can't just be happy that there's a Wonder Woman game without putting another series down. I'm not going to respect that hipster thinking anymore.
