@Lady Blackwood, I am with you btw but its hilarious because Magneto has never raised them or even conceived them but he's still their father somehow? WUT

Ironically I did think he adopted them... And I think he was the bio dad in the 92 cartoon.

Them being adopted is the latest retcon.

For decades he's been their biological father but since the movie retcon from a couple years ago he has since been referred to specifically as their "adopted" father to maintain their previously established relationship.

I mean, Madelyne does get the absolute rawest deal out of this shit.
Fair, but that doesn't justify erasing or downplaying the bond that Jean and Nathan have in the comics or the fact that she raised him for 12 years. Madelyne was dead so Jean was the mother who stepped up.

The show is different but, honestly, the way Cable made a big deal about Madelyne being his real mom and Jean just some woman who looks like her felt weird to me because it's not like he had a super meaningful and close relationship with Maddie. As far as we know, he had a memory from when he was a baby and a very brief interaction.

And I don't care if it's unfair or disrespectful or whatever to Madelyne, I want an adaptation of The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix because it's a great story and because Scott deserves a chance to be a dad.

i mean its not impossible, but still.

Would be funny if their adopted mom and Max's Wife were also absent in their lives before adulthood. The absurdity would be hilarious.

Them being adopted is the latest retcon.

Wanda and Pietro being the Maximoff's adopted children for decades. It's who their biological parents are that keeps changing.

[up] I mean the current adoption thing yes.

Before Wanda and Pietro only had a very tenous relationship with Mags based on blood ties. They only accepted him as far as acknowledging he is their blood father.

But now there is no connection so it no longer makes any sense to refer to him with any reverence. Him being their adopted father doesn't make any sense since he only found out about them later in life.

I was surprised to learn that Magneto's name is Max Eisenhardt, because I could've sworn it was Erik Lehnsherr. Is that another retcon?

[up] Yes, the Eisenhardt retcon was introduced by Magneto: Testament. Though as the X-Men YMMV page states, Polish fans of the franchise vastly prefer that he be called "Erik Lensherr" on account of their general distaste for Testament for being "the Holocaust made by Disney" (in contrast, American X-Men fans tend to like its haunting and realistic portrayal of the Holocaust; presumably, Polish people have higher standards for works of historical fiction set during the Holocaust than Americans do, since Poles had been among the victims and much of the horror happened in their country, and so Magneto: Testament was simply found wanting for realism by their standards) and for parroting a debunked story about Polish cavalry deliberately attacking German tanks.

Tolerance is Extinction Part 1 is up:

Professor X is back in the opening credits. Cable reveals that the Prime Sentinels are indeed based on the TO virus Sinister infected him w/ and Cable added that he kept trying to stop the Genoshan genocide but kept being prevented from doing so. Beast theorized that it's a fixed point according to Kamar-Taj. Bastion then released a doctored footage of Lilandra announcing her engagement w/ Xavier and edited it to make it seem that HE is the Shi'ar emperor and planning an invasion of Earth. Meanwhile, Jubilee and Mrs Da Costa got on the wrong foot complete w/ her calling Jubilee "you people". Kurt tries to comfort Jean and encourage her to reach out to Cable. Valerie Cooper revealed that she's been working for Sinister and Bastion all along and she tries to talk to a bound and sedated Magneto (whose state is a reference to the time the Hellfire Club had Wolverine, Colossus and Storm bound spread-eagle and stripped naked) begging him to forgive her. Beast gives Trish an exclusive on the Prime Sentinels, w/o cameras. The Summers family investigated Bastion's childhood home and Jean receives a vision of Bastion's secret origin: he's a technopathic Mutant who was conceived when Nimrod infected his birth dad w/ a Sentinel TO virus. Bastion and Sinister then have a conference w/ OZT's backers, among them Dr Doom and Zemo. Bastion also reveals that he got most of the volunteers for the Prime Sentinel program from the precursors to alt right chatrooms, to Valerie's horror. Bastion activates the Prime Sentinels worldwide w/c include Trish, his entire childhood hometown and Roberto's butler. Roberto's then forced to use his Mutant power in public and his mom sells his son and Jubilee out to the Prime Sentinels. Valerie helps Magneto escape but she got caught and her last words before being punished were "Magneto was right" as Magneto EMPS the entire planet w/c deactivates the Prime Sentinels (w/c also had the side effect of freeing Omega Red from a Russian lab). Professor X arrives in the Institute's ruins in a Shi'ar ship and finally says "To me, my X-Men."

Well, Doom did reiterate to Bastion that working together still doesn't make them equals. As to why, maybe something Charles said or did might have offended him at some point in the past. Among the conference there was also a woman but I couldn't recognize her voice and her monitor was shadowed-out but she maybe a prominent supervillain if she was talking alongside Doom and Zemo. Doom also told Bastion that it also doesn't mean that working together makes him agreeable to flagrant war crimes (Doom's exact words).

As for the voices, Doom is voiced by Ross Marquand (billed as Latverian OZT Member so we could be dealing w/ a racist Doombot instead of the real deal) while Zemo is voiced by Indian actor Rama Vallury. Other noteworthy cameos include a Stark Expo poster in Bastion's childhood house as well as Spider-Man and Silver Samurai watching Magneto's EMP sweep the globe from New York and Tokyo respectively.

Honestly the knowledge of major villains like Doom and Zemo help fund Operation Zero Intolerance behind the scenes really does hype up Bastion as being a major threat in this story. Gives vibes to Acts Vengence with the idea of assemblence of Marvel top villains only the target is X-Men instead of Avengers.

[up]Now that you mentioned it, the physical appearance of the Tri-Sentinel was based on the one that Loki created in Acts of Vengeance and Bastion could be a stand-in for both Loki and Red Skull if the season finale is a reference of a mashup of Marvel events. W/ Magneto showing he is powerful enough to EMP the planet, it made me say "forget Xorneto, he could actually do Ultimatum w/o Mjolnir if he got really pissed off." Cable telling the X-Men of Bastion's ideal future being a Confederacy-style "utopia" (relatively speaking) w/ Mutants as slaves/black people stand-ins reminded me of Remender's Uncanny X-Force arc where the team fought future Deathloks from an alternate future where human civilians killed all the superheroes (including nonpowered ones like Punisher and Cap) and converted them all into Deathloks and ushered in a utopia.

After seeing the Auschwitz brand the Nazis forced on him, the monstrosity of her colleagues Bastion and Sinister as well as the rest of their underlings, and finally being on ground zero and experiencing a Sentinel attack made Valerie Cooper begin to see things Magneto's way and declare that he was right all along.

[up] Guess so and it's probably on either season 2 or 3 given everything that's been set up so far. W/ Zemo making his 1990s Marvel Animated Universe debut, wouldn't be surprised if they go far enough to set up the OG Thunderbolts. Although this is assuming Avengers: United They Stand isn't canon to the 90s MAU.
