The current DC Rebirth continuity actually Gender Flip Streaky into a female cat with powers (Super Sons Annual #1), so there's some precedent if a creator wants to do that. Otherwise, the character had been initially imagined as male.

Huh, so we were wrong. Ace is the Bathound after all. I'm guessing Batman takes him in during the third act. That would explain why he's "indistructa-dog" in the earlier trailers, and Bathound in this one.
Although, I kinda don't like how apparently Batman's dog has actual superpowers. The whole point of Batman is he has no powers!

Okay, don't know if this has been addressed already, but apparently the Flash's pet, Merton the turtle, is based on DC's first funny animal character, Merton Mc Snurtle, also known as Mc Snurtle the Turtle, who later took on the super-heroic identity of The Terrific Whatzit, and first appeared in Funny Stuff #1 in 1944. As the Terrific Whatzit, he did indeed have super-speed. He's been linked to the Flash since about 2009, and even appeared in an episode of The Flash tv show as a stuffed animal Iris West had as a child.
So if Ace really is the bathound does that mean the other animals may be adopted by the other members of the justice legue? like the squirrel with green lantern as a reference to Ch'P the squirrel green lantern and the pig being taken by wonder woman as a reference to the justice league cartoon episode in which she was transformed into a pig?

Aquaman's pet sidekick, Topo, already showed up in the movie and I'm sure writers of Super-Pets realized that they can't possibly top his appearance there.
Still no Streaky, Comet, Jumpa, or Beppo.

I want to point out that I totally predicted correctly each pet and superhero pairing, and I don't think it matters since they're different wonder women anyway.

Does anyone know why Streaky is male despite the fact that he's suppose to represent supergirl which is, well you know, a girl, shouldn't her pet version be a girl too?
