Hey-o! Looks like the show's been picking up steam. Anyone seen it yet?
Was anyone scared shitless of the stop-motion demons?
I don't know why, but Charlie's voice makes me think that Zach Hadel would be good choice for an english dub voice for Angoramon from Digimon Ghost Game. Maybe I could imagine hearing Charlie's voice out of Angoramon.
Aside from that, I'm a fan of the series so far. I'm especially impressed with the Forest Demon too.

Wanted to comment on how this show seems to often make allusion to video games, its culture and overall logic in each episode. Like the whole Enchanted Forest episode (along with reference to Tolkein fantasy, has some subtle reference to Zelda and Skyrim; like the tree giving Charlie a sword and one of the quest givers giving the duo an arbritary side quest of collecting a certain number of materials. Also the fast food episode where the whole Century Eggs dialogue comes off as a parody to Mauve Shirt NPC characters giving important mission item found in a typical CRPG game (“Now you know my COOL fucking backstory”).
Honestly like that in the show, as its on the same level as the Simpson with its numerous background references
In addition to Birdgirl, Smiling Friends has been renewed for a Season Two, according to Animation Magazine.
Here's the full video for the series' San Diego Comic-Con panel. Just announced was a special called "The Smiling Friends Go To Brazil", debuting August 6 at 11:30 pm.

Oh boy, as a Brazilian I don't know if I should celebrate or get cautious.
oh hey how are you doing? So I just watched it. It's just like everyone suspected, the Smiling Friends never leave the airport cause Pim forgot to book a Hotel on Mardis Gras/Carnival. It was funny in a 'wow, this is a very real, awkward situation' way, but I personally felt it was a bit too one note. Still, I recommend a watch, and can't wait for Season 2!
Hope you're still smiling, because [as] just announced at NYCC that Season 2 is coming in 2024!
Oooh! I can't wait for Season 2! I'm really enjoying this show so far!
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!Anyone watched the April Fools event on Adult Swim? We got puppet recreations of three episodes, plus a NEW episode. Plus the Season 2 release date: May 12th.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022)....Weird to think that Smiling Friends was one of the few bastions of sincerity in April Fools, but having seen the episode, while it was the usual chaotic madness the whole way through... that ending, of James sitting in his slum of an apartment, lamenting pushing Charlie away... God dammit, it got to me. They still have that balance in tact, of wackiness, and sobering reality.

“Boom! Boomboom! Boomboomboom! Bakuage Tire! Gogogo!"I noticed that, ever since "Charlie Dies and Doesn't Come Back", the 'iconic' smiling scene (where we see the characters face, there's a musical note playing and then 'ding' when they smile) has been missing. Sure they've made people smile, but the 'iconic' scene has disappeared.
After more than a year of doubt, it's finally been confirmed that Smiling Friends has indeed been picked up for a full series.

Considering how popular the pilot was, I think it's pretty deserving of a thread.
Spearheading the project is well known Internet animator Zach "Psychicpebbles" Hadel, alongside Michael Cusack.
