Acting Supernatural (Reboot)

"That's a bummer. But hey, maybe we can hang out durin' lunchtime?", Mindy asks, this time with something of a smile on her face. Probably the first time she's done so since she arrived at Little Haven.

"Guess there could be other students that got here before us...or that they didn't bother to at least say hello as they went pas-." Robin idly commented on Loki's comment, only to get cut short and flinch ever so slightly at Mindy's outburst.

"It...was more of it'd help them cool down or something but... My apologies for the suggestion, I suppose." ...Well, at least Robin sounded sincere and tried to take the angry retort in stride.

Of course, the mention of having their first class with Mr Morgan just made their composed attitude get a little more shaken instead as they put the schedule away.

7:54am or so, Little Haven, outside Oddity High - Alex Palencia the disappointed werewolf

Alex glanced back as he heard something, seeing Mindy's fists were aflame. Though Alex was startled, he wasn't really surprised; everyone there not being normal humans was what he was expecting after all. He just wasn't necessarily expecting anyone to be like an X-man with fire powers or something.

Plus there was something about the way Mindy was reacting to it herself, and the way she looked after she got the flames put out; it reminded Alex of the way he felt about himself...

But before Alex could say anything about that, one of the teachers showed up. Shouldn't she have been here before us, getting her class ready? Alex thought to himself, looking at Ms. Perlman with a slightly disappointed look, but he was also curious what her deal was. The teachers being completely normal was not something Alex had considered would even be possible.

Ms. Perlman brought up the topic of their class schedules, so Alex removed his backpack and opened it up to reach inside and grab the paper. He frowned as he was reminded that this school still taught normal subjects as well as the apparent 'power control', that was all he really cared about. It was annoying that he wouldn't be allowed to just skip the rest of the classes and only show up at lunch time, but it was better than not having the help at all. "Math- ugh- then English, then science- whatever- and then history" Alex muttered, thinking out loud as he reviewed the class schedule.

Ah, so math was first, then. Eh, whatever. Then history. Loki liked history. Third, science. Loki didn't mind science - what he minded were scientists. He wasn't sure why, though - it was just a gut reaction. Probably some sort of bad experience with them, but he had no clue what. Finally English. Another solid 'meh' from him. He pulled a ball of string from his other pocket and tossed it in the air once or twice before putting it away again. He had no clue who he had classes with, though. Was that on the schedule? It wasn't on his schedule, for sure.

Outside Oddity High

Ms. Perlman sighed. Of course there would be one student who didn't get the schedule. "Alright, you said your name was...Gill?" She took a schedule of her own (which had every student, as opposed to the student's, which only had theirs) and looked for Gill's first period class. "Looks like you have Ms. Hughes first. Come see me after first period, I'll give you your full schedule."

With that out of the way, she made her way to the front door. "It's not locked," she said, as she demonstrated that it was not locked. "It'd be a good idea to get to class early. Classrooms are on the third floor." With that, she went inside.

Gill nodded fervently at being recognized as Gill, before she explained that he was going to have his first class with Ms. Hughes. Gill saluted, grinning at the teacher.

"Yes, ma'am! I'll be right there to collect my schedule after my first class! And thanks for the directions to the classrooms! Last one to class is a sea slug!" he exclaimed, laughing, excitedly opening the door and heading on inside.

He immediately made his way towards the stairs, bolting through the hall and ascending the two flights of stairs to make his way up to the classroom. As quickly as he could, at any rate. He found stairs so awkward, so he clambered up slower than a normal person would, but once he made it to the top he started bolting down the hall again, looking for the door to Ms. Hughes' classroom.

Finding the door, he swung it open.

Front of School

"Lunch sounds perfect. But I suppose for now I must deal with my own class, unfortunately."

Blake sighs wistfully before heading inside to follow that teacher who had talked to them outside.

"Yeah, okay. See ya later," Mindy says as Blake leaves while giving off a small wave. Mindy takes a sigh as she enters the school building herself. As she goes down the halls, she still can't help but shake off the unease she feels about being in this place. But she nevertheless puts on a tough face she was sporting when she first arrived. She eventually makes her way into Mr. Morgan's room.

Alex nearly rolled his eyes at the teacher's suggestion that they get to class early, but stopped himself. That was the old him; the new him desperately needed this, so... Time to be a good student for once.

Or at least try to.

... He'd at least not completely slack off and not care like he did before.

...

(Okay maybe not with math though.)

Speaking of, much to his frustration, math was first, so Alex headed inside and upstairs in no particular hurry. He didn't know if he had a locker, and he didn't particularly care, so he decided to go straight for the class. As he was getting there, he noticed that girl who had the flaming hands was also heading into the class. He decided to let her go through first, and would go through after; after what all had happened earlier, he did not want to bother her just now.

Mimi – Outside Oddity High

Mimi audibly gasped at Gill's challenge, before making to race after him at a speed only partially bolstered by her nature—surely no one would notice the slight slimming of her upper body and the increased muscle mass directed towards her legs while she was moving. It'd surely be too subtle to even register.

Right?

Either way, she evidently think too much on it.

Mimi – Inside Oddity High

“We're here,” Mimi spoke once they'd reached Ms. Hughes' classroom, sounding strangely composed for someone who'd been running the whole way there. “Gill, we share classes. Class buddies...~!” \(^-^)/

Was that the wrong phrase? Probably the wrong phrase. She didn't notice or care, briefly hugging Gill before pulling away again to work her way around the classroom's edges.

“It's a new room. Mimi has to know where the walls are,” she informed, running her hands along said walls for an entire orbit before making a tentative return back to the middle in order to sit down. “It's small. She thought these classrooms would be bigger.”

Now that the initial excitement had calmed, she seemed less hyper and more serene than before. Her expression had flattened, at any rate. The fact she had only a handful of eyes to worry about while inside a building helped considerably.

She didn't have to keep up appearances as much.

Hailey Woods — Oddity High

..oh. That's... Definitely one way to share schedules.

Hailey looks at her schedule for a bit — Hughes, Davis, Perlman, Morgan. Eh, guess she'll do with that. Nothing she can do about it anyways.

When Gill challenged his fellow classmates, she was a tad bit surprised. An interesting challenge is an interesting one, however, and so she accepts it. "Gotcha, then!" After some time power-walking in the school, she reaches to her first class. She opens the door, only to realise that Gill and Mimi are there before her.

Awkward silence. At least, from her. She waves at the two for a bit while saying, "Oh hey. Nice to meet you all here." Soon after, she finds a place to sit down.

At the point when Mindy's hands caught fire, Kayden's eyes almost bugged out of his head, followed by him pointing and saying "That is awesome." Then Mindy said fuhgeddaboudit and blamed him, prompting a snort before Kayden tactfully hid his laughter behind one hand. Then Gill asked what fire is, and all Kayden could do was squint at the boy, shaking his head and slowly raising his hands to his forehead in total incredulity.

Finally, the science teacher arrived, and things started to get into some kind of order. Kayden fished a journal out of his bag, and checked the first page for a copy of his schedule. Looks like science was the starter with, funnily enough, this very teacher. Somehow, Kayden doubted they'd get to play with paper planes or exploding metals on the first day, but there was always hope.

So the throng of strange students made their way inside, off to their first classes of the day. Kayden tagged along behind Blake, catching up until they were side by side. "Hey, uh...looks like we got first class together, so..." Jeeze, this was more awkward than before. "...So, yeah, no hard feelings about the quips just now, right?"

Gill was pulled into a hug by the friendly girl, and Gill returned the hug happily, cuddling into her for a moment before letting her go. As he sat down, he looked around the room, taking in the entire area. It was a lot smaller than he was expecting, but with a school size of 12, it probably made sense. Still, it was going to be so exciting!!

He hummed to himself cheerily, occasionally opening his mouth for an "aaa-lalala" every so often, happily singing to himself as he waited, and completely unaware of the magic he was weaving with his voice as he did so.

Hailey greeted him and he turned towards her, grinning.

"Well, helloooo thereee~" he sang, stretching in his seat. "I'm so ex-ciiited~"

Loki walked into math class. He glanced around the room. Okay, so I've got a ball of string; what can I do to make this a bit more entertaining? He sat down at a desk and tried to think of ideas.

Mindy goes into Mr. Morgan's classroom as she puts her backpack underneath her table and has a seat as she lowered her eyes into an irritated glare and crossed her arms. She notices that Alex she exchanged glares with earlier, whom then changed to someone who seemed unsure of himself. Which is fitting since Mindy wasn't sure what to make of him. What is his deal, she wonders to herself. Then she sees Loki come into the room, someone she hasn't really paid any attention to during her meeting with the other students. She knows nothing about him, but nevertheless, she still wishes to keep her guard up as she gives the two of them a hard glance before staring at the wall while she sinks into her seat a little bit.

Robin, To Class.

At least Ms Perlman had mentioned where they needed to go. And Maths to start with too, that was something. Just a matter of getting there before it started if it was on the third floor. But considering the conversations earlier, they wasn't really anything wrong with taking a shortcut.

Lightly pressing a hand against a window clean enough to display a reflection, Robin vanished from sight for several moments before climbing out of another window on the third floor several moments later and made their way to Mr Morgan's classroom, giving a slightly sheepish smile noticing they were the last one there before taking a seat.

Still in that no-hurry pace, Alex took a seat, first noticing Mindy glaring at him again, then Loki holding a ball of yarn. Alex wasn't sure what Loki was doing with a ball of yarn, but the werewolf had a feeling he didn't want to be involved in it. That other kid who had the umbrella came in, who Alex acknowledged with a small nod. It seemed like they weren't getting started yet, so Alex glanced back over at Mindy again, who was now staring at the wall in a way that suggested she didn't want to talk. The logical thinking portion of Alex's mind told him to leave her alone, but somehow, that just didn't feel right...

"Hey, uh... You okay, after what happened earlier?" Alex asked quietly.

Kaydentalk Enroute To Perlman

Blake was a little bit surprised to be approached while heading off to class and gave a glance at the guy from earlier who was now keeping pace beside him.

"Oh hey. I mean, no problem dude. I've got thick skin so it's fine. Honest I was lowkey wishing there wouldn't be any bullies in this little dozen of students."

As Mindy sits sulked into her desk, she notices Alex talking to her, asking her how she feels after earlier. She happens to give a little glance at him as Alex asks her, still with a little bit of hostility in the eyes. But then she starts to think maybe he isn't so bad? She still doesn't know what to make of him. Her faces briefly faces the wall again as she looks downwards, closing her eyes and sighing, showing a little bit of embarrassment in her face, before turning her attention back to him, this time looking at him in a slightly more neutral manner without the hostility, but rather of one which one could sense she's feeling a bit pained emotionally. She doesn't really want to talk about it, but at the same time, she hopes to find someone who can maybe understand her, making her feel very conflicted.

"Yeah.... yeah, I'm fine."

Alex didn't really believe that answer, but he didn't think that Mindy would like him to keep prying, so he tried to think of a way to carefully disengage from the topic. "Oh... Good, that's good" Alex said, glancing away and barely resisting the urge to smack himself in the forehead. After a few seconds of silence, Alex thought of something, and put his backpack on his desk to get something out of it. "Want a piece of jerky?" he offered, then bit into a piece himself.

"No. No thank you." She lets out a sigh as she darted her eyes to the other two students. Loki, whom she still has no opinion on, and Robin, whom despite the fact she snapped at earlier after they had suggested she put her hands out with water because with those powers she had, what good was water going to do? And it's not like she hadn't tried it before, but all to no avail. But nonetheless, Mindy still has no impressions of Robin other than that rude retort from earlier. But then she looks at Alex, eating his jerky, now looking at him very curiously. He had put up this front of an aggressive type, but now as far as she was concerned, he's kind of all over the place.

"So what's your deal? You got mood swings or somethin'?"

Mr. Morgan's Room

Into the room came a man, who looked to be in about his late 20s, had a buzz cut, and was holding a stack of papers. Presumably this was Mr. Morgan.

"Oh, you're here already!" It seemed like he wasn't expecting the classroom to be full^note or what passes for full when there are four people in each class. "Well, there's still about four minutes before class starts, so...uh..."

He picked up a piece of paper on his desk. "Okay, we have Loki, Mindy, Alex, and Robin...which one of you is which?"

Ms. Hughes' Room

Around the same time, a different person entered a different room.

Ms. Hughes had long, black hair, and looked to be in around her mid-40s. "Oh! The students have arrived."

Similar to Mr. Morgan, but with less friendly body language, Ms. Hughes walked over to her desk and picked up a piece of paper. She began to call roll, saying each student's last name in alphabetical order...

...or she would have done that if Gill's lack of a last name didn't throw her off. After she figured out what was going on, she said, loudly and sternly, "Which one of you is Gill?" After Gill did whatever he did to identify himself, she would continue, "What is your last name?"

Gill stopped singing and looked up as soon as Ms. Hughes entered the classroom. He sat up straight, smiling and looking right at the teacher. When he was acknowledged, Gill raised his hand and waved, a grin on his face.

"I'm Gill, ma'am!" he greeted. "And I haven't had any other names before this, Gill's the only name I've ever had," he pointed out, not understanding the concept of a last name or that not having one was unusual.

Nicholas

It took some time for Nicholas to register that school was now starting.

Hm. Apparently, zombie reaction speed was as slow as the movies said. He'd have to inform Regan later.

Long after everyone else had gone inside, Nicholas shuffled into the building, up some stairs, down a hallway, up more stairs, down another hallway, and into what he was reasonably sure was Ms. Perlman's class.

(For the record, it was. But he didn't have a way of knowing that.)

He quietly headed up to a random desk and took a seat. Now, all that was left to do was wait.

1st Period, Little Haven, Oddity High math class - Alex Palencia the werewolf with mild self-inflicted PTSD

"... Mood swings" Alex muttered after swallowing his bite of jerky, staring forward at nothing with a thousand yard stare. "Yeah something like that" he continued, as images flashed through his mind of a broken metal door and bits of pig bone and flesh strewn about a room.

"I pretty much already said it earlier" Alex added after he came back to his senses, closing his backpack and placing it back on the floor next to his chair. "There's a reason we're all in this school, yeah?" he pointed out rhetorically.

It was about then the teacher finally arrived, and Alex placed an elbow on the desk so he could rest his chin on his hand. "I'm Alex" Alex answered in a bored sort of tone. He never liked or was any good at math before, and he wasn't expecting any help with his problem from this class, since it was just math.
