Well, in that case, they use Eastern order when talking as well.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Put simplified it's family name first, then first name, e.g. Gura Gawr.
Why's this eggo angy all the time? | Current video game focus: MinecraftI thought "Gura" was the first name?
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Gawr is the family name, Gura the given
Ollie is all-around impressive! Well, not the singing. But otherwise! Great design with one of the best rigs in Hololive! Funny! Very good English! Reminds me of Kiara in a lot of ways, but Ollie doesn't annoy me the way Kiara does
Anya is... generally sort of underwhelming? English is mostly okay, but weirdly informal. Her design is good on paper, but pretty much a laundry list of things that don't work well for vtubers. And I find the giant breasts fairly off-putting. She has a fancy stereo mic that's not really designed for just talking to a camera. Shitty internet connection that dropped to around 0.2 FPS during her model showoff. Only one to not voice-act her intro, which could really have used it. And I just didn't find her very engaging?
Reine is fine. I find her design is a bit worse than Anya's, but it translated to a Live 2 D model much better. Good singer. Reasonably funny. Very erratic about what she translated and into how many languages. Not really an ara ara nee-san, just a normal person personality-wise. I like the anime OP intro in theory, but they didn't have much to work with for the imagery. Only one to not make a big deal about other Hololive members
So, mostly pretty good, and I can see Ollie being Hololive's next big success. And, IDK, my opinions on Anya might not be common
there is a certain kind of person who really likes the "lazybones" personality in their streamers and Anya's whole shtick is for that crowd.
Crazy Ollie is far and away going to be the star of this gen, though, of course. She's very clearly someone who just likes being able to entertain people and the more explosive personalities tend to be the most popular. (Partly because that kind of humor is easy to clip, but still.)
To be honest Reine is the first Hololive debut I've been present for that did not really click with me, but I'm not fond of the whole "onee-san" archetype that her on-stream persona seems to be meant to fulfill, so that'd be why. I wish her the best though, especially if her actress is who I think she is.
Given what I know of Hololive's somewhat unusual selection criteria I'm unsurprised they've got another solid gen on their hands. They haven't really had a "dud" in quite a while now. (And the Hololive fandom being what it is even those entertainers tend to find an audience before too long.)
It's not formatted consistently across Hololive's branding (which is sort of annoying, IMO) but the "first" name is the family name, officially. Thus in your example Mori is the family name and Calliope is the given name and the full name would be usually given as "Mori Calliope"....but sometimes it's "Calliope Mori" instead. It's a bit annoying.

it's either real or it's a dream there's nothing that is in betweenAlright, cool. Thanks guys. So just to clarify, this example on the character page is mistaken:
I'm assuming someone saw her name in the Eastern order and assumed it was the Western Order? But, as Hylarn noted on the last page, Moona and Anya are tripping me up because if their names are in the same order as everyone else then they're the only two who go by their surnames. Unless they do list their names in the Western order.
There was something similar happening on the EN page concerning Calli and Gura but that's already been fixed. Wish I'd saw that before I wrote my question last night. I think the only one it could actually apply to is Amelia since her friends use that and "Watson" pretty interchangeably.
"What a century this week has been." - Seung Min KimThere's also, "Really, Watson? Really!?"
Oh, and in typical Holo Myth fashion Kiara's mic was blitzing out in a stream and among the viewers going "!?" was Sora. Kiara eventually noticed the chat going nuts over the visit and went nuts herself. Rapid fire Japanese I couldn't read or understand took place but it eventually ended with Kiara announcing Sora had signed up for an appearance on Holo Talk at some point in the future. So that was a nice little mistake that worked.
"What a century this week has been." - Seung Min KimI'll be honest, I didnt imagine the future of puppetry being this, but this whole thing has been interesting to see unfold.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinairegura what the fuck
I mean, you'd expect a shark to be used to eating wet meals
There was also screaming from standing up. Yeah, the Ring Fit stream is still hurting...
Oh, and she went on to keep arguing with the chat. The pizza was apparently a vegan meatlovers pizza, and the reason she still ate it after dropping it was because she'd been eating around the best part.
Avatar SourceApparently, Kiara's channel got nuked by YouTube for unclear reasons.
And then she asked reddit to make memes for her for when her channel comes back
At least she's taking it in stride
"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaYou imply Youtube gives clear reasons for anything
But regardless. This does feel strange.
Like a phoenix it rises from the ashes.
"What a century this week has been." - Seung Min KimIn the past 2 months alone, Ange Katrina and Nui Sociere of Nijisanji, and Suou Patra of Honey Strap also got terminated without any warning nor any apparent reason by the Youtube AI. Fortunately, like Kiara, they all have hundreds of thousands of subscribers and have employers that are able to contact the necessary parties in Youtube and have a human confirm that their buggy AI screwed up again, so their channels were restored within 24 hours.
Less fortunate are the smaller indie Vtubers that don't have either and thus lack the clout to get the attention of Youtube to look into their case.
So yeah, Youtube and its infamously broken AI sucks and there's nothing anyone could do about it. What else is new?

In this case it was probably just the algorithm mucking up, although that it was specifically Kiara is suspicious.
it's either real or it's a dream there's nothing that is in betweenEh, I subscribe to Hanlon's Razor. "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity". Or in this case, by false positives triggered by Youtube's algorithm.
It IS kinda funny that, considering Callie's "Fucks" and Ame's ground-pounding and concoction jokes, Kiara and her relatively tamer content was the first Hololive EN to run afoul of Youtube-kun. Did anybody bet on the chicken when Fubuki and Coco talked about Youtube Bans in their Meme Review?
Because profanity and dirty jokes alone are pretty unlikely to attract bans, otherwise they'd need to nuke like half the site from orbit.
Notably it said Kiara was banned for spam or something, so she was doing something with videos that triggered it as super suspicious.
Avatar SourceKiara had a "RE:Debut" stream where she introduced herself again and considered the other EN and new ID cast as her seniors now that she had been reborn before remembering where she was on the pecking order. Then she did her song and showcased all the death memes she had encouraged her fans to make.
"What a century this week has been." - Seung Min KimThe exact wording was "This account has been terminated due to multiple or severe violations of Youtube's policy against spam, deceptive practices, and misleading content or other Terms of Service violations", which seems to be their generic message for channels deleted by the Youtube AI.
Based on what Kiara shared in her RE:Debut, the reason that the AI may have terminated her is because "Youtube doesn't allow content that encourages dangerous or illegal activities that risk serious physical harm or theft", which is just... How the heck did the Youtube AI interpret her videos for that?
Gotta hand it to Kiara, she took an unfortunate event like this, adapted it into her lore and turned it to pure gold!
The explanation I saw that made the most sense was that it sometimes targets VT accounts because it sees that the avatar is in the same location in most videos and interprets it as the account uploading the same video many times.
Which is nonsense, but Youtube's automod is notoriously bad, so.
it's either real or it's a dream there's nothing that is in between
They all do, I was talking about... talking.
