Ideally, if you want people to notice the work has a page, you should ideally crosswick the tropes, as well as put the work on an index.

I am the author and artist for a webcomic,
Congratulations; you'll want to read The Fic May Be Yours, but the Trope Page Is Ours. I launched that page (Debugging Destiny).
Hmm, I notice Zero-Context Examples problems, but much better than typical new tropers, so good for you! I'll edit the page a bit to give you more specific advice. Once you've read/fixed what I said, you can delete them. I'm now looking at cross-wicking it, but cannot find any guidelines about the process to add an example
You need How to Write an Example.
Do I just add examples rashly and trust people to edit the example away if they disagree?
To a point, yes. Don't Be Afraid to Edit:
In pages that aren't alphabetically sorted, do I put the new example at the bottom,
At the bottom of the Webcomics folder is fine. Follow the Sorting Pattern Used On The Page:
or should I take the time to sort everything?
That would be ideal! Not everyone has the time when adding an example, so it isn't as much of a requirement. Follow the Sorting Pattern Used On The Page:
Should I cross-wick everything, or only examples where my webcomic is a clear, defined, and notable example?
Everything
For a specific example, my webcomic is set After the End, but that doesn't really impact the story at all.
Everything
Also, can we please add a big blinking banner for new users with basic resources and advice?
You want Welcome to TV Tropes. The forums are impenetrable. I doubt Trope Talk is the right spot for that request,
Wiki Talk would have been better, perhaps a moderator will move it for you.

But yes. Crosswick as much as you possibly can.

Awesome - thanks all for the advice! I have cross-wicked, and will open a thread in Wiki Talk to suggest emailing Welcome to TV Tropes to new users. Will get around to indices later tonight / tomorrow.

Is crosswicking everything actually a rule for work pages? It definitely is for new tropes, but I'm not so sure for work pages.

It's supposed to be but enforcing it is near impossible.

To be totally honest, this might not be the right spot - please redirect me as necessary. However, I have never edited a Wiki before, I do not know what etiquette there is, and I'm shocked that there isn't a big blinking banner when you make an account outlining the basic guidelines and resources.
I am the author and artist for a webcomic, and having stumbled upon How to Create a Work's Page and Text-Formatting Rules, I launched that page (Debugging Destiny). I'm now looking at cross-wicking it, but cannot find any guidelines about the process to add an example (Cross Wicking boils down to "do it or ask others to do it" rather than "do X, then Y, then Z").
Also, can we please add a big blinking banner for new users with basic resources and advice? The forums are impenetrable. I doubt Trope Talk is the right spot for that request, but I do not know where I should be asking it, so... here it is. I'll happily follow up somewhere more appropriate, but need a pointer on where to take this.
Thanks, all.
