I guess with Christopher Walken now being cast in this, there’s not gonna be a third season of The Outlaws (unless they either film it without him, he’ll cameo / not be in as many episodes as usual or he’ll show up sometime in the second half)
Whats up the book prequels exactly?
How'd it portray Shaddam?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I've only read a small selection of the Brian Herbert books, so I'm not the best person to ask. From what little I remember, the House Corrino book pictures Shaddam IV as a bumbling youth in a manner similar to young adult sci-fi that you used to find in the 60s and 70s.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"A bumbling youth of like 50. It's been a while since I read it; I remember him whining about his middle age and still not being on the throne, then he and Fenring plot to assassinate his father . . . Elrood(?).
Watched the movie again, goddamn I can't wait for part 2. No idea what they're going to do with Alia; she's my favorite character if we get into the rest of her story.
Léa Seydoux (whom I love) is in negotiations to play Margot.
Interestingly the casting news breaks don’t call her Margot Fenring. Variety calls her “a vital ally” to Paul.

That's going to be weird, considering that House Fenring was never mentioned in the first movie.

I don’t even remember who that is…
I've read the books and I've no clue either
New theme music also a boxI just finished the first book, that's Count Hashimir Fenring's wife I believe, Hashimir being the Emperor's best friend and personal assassin.
To my knowledge Margot only appears in one chapter in the first book watching Feyd-Rautha's gladiator match and isn't even on Arakkis at the end when Paul takes over.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Right, she's minor character, she clearly didn't leave much of an impression on me compared to say,Count Fenring
New theme music also a boxMargot Fenring is also mentioned as an ally of Jessica (because they are both Bene Gesserit) who left coded messages in their dwellings at Arrakeen warning her of impending danger. She is a minor character who serves an important role of establishing how pervasive the Sisterhood's spy network is.
Since we are expecting Feyd-Rautha's introduction early in the second film — it's a natural starting point — we could get the Fenrings in that scene as well as they deliver the Emperor's warning to the Baron. But they are minor characters that I was expecting to get cut entirely.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Yeah, Fenring basically ran Arrakeen while House Harkonnen owned Arrakis, if I recall correctly. They were under the Harkonnens but left warnings for House Atreides when they arrived.
I found this on Movie Palette. What an intriguing band of colours this one makes.
Optimism is a duty. From the YMMV page of this film:
- The Scrappy: Nobody, not even the most die-hard fans of the movie, like this version of Liet-Kynes, as the character is seen as: 1) a case of forced diversity in a book already heavily inspired by foreign cultures, and with proper strong female characters to boot 2) as absolutely pointless because most of Liet's story arc got Adapted Out of the story of the movies, which is seen as a very big plothole
I also brought it up on the Scrappy cleanup where I said it just looks like a bunch of complaining, but since this is a thread specifically about this film I wanted to get more input on whether this is an opinion anyone has seen more than once in social media/among fans of the books/the other film adaptation/the miniseries. All I have to go on is my own personal opinion and the reddit.com/r/movies discussion thread, whose opinions on Liet Kynes are more "Huh I wonder why they changed the gender, but her final scene was awesome" rather than "They Changed It, Now It Sucks!"
We don't sweep with a broom, no~I have seen more praise than complaints about SDB’s Liet, personally. The complaints were usually about omissions to the character’s arc, not anything related to her color or gender.
And pretty much everyone seems to agree that her death scene was an improvement over the book.

That is an easily disprovable lie, so cut it on that basis alone.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"That.
And even if it was right, it's alphabetised wrong. I thought it was already gone looking at thlis. It should be in alphabetised under 'scrappy' not 'the' iirc.
The "forced diversity" thing is very questionable as well.
"Heavily inspired by foreign cultures." Yes, and? What, the people who integrate with the Fremen culture all have to be white and it's okay because...the Fremen have a lot of Arabic inspiration? What's that supposed to mean?
It's just dogwhistles.

Not Three Laws compliant. It's been cut.
We don't sweep with a broom, no~"There's enough foreign in this movie already. We shouldn't add more foreign to it."
This is racist. If you think this, you are racist.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"> a case of forced diversity
loaded terms like this are a huge red flag, cut!
New theme music also a boxAgreed, that phrase is a red flag for racism bait.
Optimism is a duty.I checked to see who added the example and if it was a cross-wick. Since it was not, I suspended them under our hate speech policy.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Now that I've seen the movie up close on DVD (and it looks marvelous, by the way), I notice that pretty much all the Fremen are of a Middle-Eastern complexion... except the two who die, who are much darker skinned.
Um, okay movie... What was that about?
Optimism is a duty.
Not gonna lie, I kind of pictured Edric as looking like the Creature from the Black Lagoon while I was reading Dune Messiah.
