So I've noticed enough of a problem with this series around this site that I think a formal project thread is warranted. What's going on? Well, I'll try to sum it up.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is a cop show; in fact, it recently became the longest-running one in history. It has a reputation as a) being a big ass old block of cheese, and b) having a well-known Designated Hero problem, with the main characters routinely assaulting suspects and expressing a desire to make anything even slightly kinky illegal. This has caused it, on this site, to develop quite the Butt-Monkey reputation... and this is where our problem begins.
I've noticed a lot of entries for YMMV tropes pertaining to this show react to the series' flaws by going way too far in the other direction - deliberately wording entries to make the series' heroes look worse and its villains look better than they actually are. Block of cheese or not, this show covers some very sensitive topics, and I want to make sure that anything that comes off as victim-blaming or apologetics for perpetrators gets the axe; you can't help but cringe looking at some of the entries, I feel. I've removed some I know to be inaccurate, and looking at the history I see other tropers have done the same. However, I've lost track of this show for years, and as such I need the help of people who are more familiar with it to help gauge the accuracy of the entries and remove potential ickiness.
