Paramount Animation's output, so far, has not been stellar. If they'd like to pull an Advertising by Association, they'd have to say "from the creators of Sherlock Gnomes and Wonder Park" (I have not seen either of those two, but based on the trailers and reviews I feel I didn't miss much).
By the time this releases, Sponge on the Run will have already been well out so if that turns out to be a success I'd assume they would want to at least try and piggyback off of that association.
The thing about Sherlock Gnomes was that hardly anyone really remembered Gnomeo & Juliet, and the amount of people who did remember it and thought it warranted a sequel or was anything above passable was probably even more minuscule.
Wonder Park could have worked on some level but it was such a tonally disjointed, thinly-written mess that it's a marvel they're still going forward with that TV show.

Rumble has moved to February 18, 2022. It would've come out on January 29, 2021 and then May 14. Now it comes out next year.

The date has changed again. Now it comes out December 15 on Paramount Plus.

It's an interesting concept. Just a shame it's gotten such a terrible promotion. . . just like every other non-Nickelodeon animated movie from Paramount.
I wonder why this movie wasn't promoted so well? I mean, I know that Paramount has a bit of history of not promoting their movies very well.
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!I saw a trailer for it with Encanto last night, but that was the first I had seen about it other than this thread. The trailer still said “next year in theaters”.
Based on your encounter, the decision to put the movie exclusively on streaming must have been so last minute that no one at the theater heard about this and played the trailer normally.
I wonder why they moved this movie to streaming?
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!Probably because they realized they hadn't made much promotion for it, and if they put it in theaters, they'd be taking a bath.
Well, that's a good way to ensure I personally never see it.
Shame, I liked the premise.
I wonder why they didn't promote this movie that much?
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!Not much faith in it, probably. Now, why would that be, I dunno, I don't think executive.
Wake me up at your own risk.
The trailer for this had been playing in front of Sonic for a while, but for some reason it's just now come online.
I'll be reserving full judgement since this is more of a teaser trailer, but I didn't find this to be that good of a first impression. The idea of a monster wrestling organization on its' own is kinda intriguing and the animation looks lush but nothing apart from that is giving me the vibe it'll differentiate from pretty much every other underdog story out there.
