ITT: We're Animals in a Post-Apocalyptic Town

"Over here, at the end of the hall!" Peter yells in response to Cameron. He then goes back to pounding on the door.

"Damn it, how do we get in?" he says, starting to panic. "Professor, can you hear us?!"

Can we take the door down? (Wanda asks.)

Any tight fitsss I can sssqueze into?

Jack inspects the door closely. "There's got to be buttons or mechanisms or something."

Jack gives up and starts banging on the door frantically.

"Come on! Professor?"

"I think we're going to have to break down the door, guys," says Peter. "I'll count to three, and then we run into it, all right?"

So sorry for getting us stuck here, guys.

Krista, feeling like she hasn't got much a choice, braces for impact upon the door.

Ready if you guys are. (Wanda says, taking her hat off and preparing to ram the door with her head.)

"Ready!" says Jack, getting ready to punch the door.

"Ready."

"All right," says Peter. "One... two... THREE!"

On the last word, he rams into the door.

Jack rams into it as well.

As does Cameron.

(As does Wanda.) Owmyhead!

And Krista does the same.

The twins also do the same.

As everyone rams into it, the door gives way and is broken off its hinges, letting them into the labs.

Once inside, they are faced with quite a scene. Intruments and test tubes are strewn over the floor and several tables are upturned. Floating in the middle of the room is what appears to be the cause of the chaos: a large, shadowy figure which appears to be just a cloak with disembodied hands, and a pair of glowing eyes visible under its hood. The creature is holding up the large crystal that the group retrieved from the ruins, and across the room from them, backed up against the wall, is another group of animals, including Professor Diggs.

"Wh-why, it's you folks!" he says.

Yeah, it is! What the heck is that!? (Wanda shouts.)

That can't be...your former ssstudent, professsor?

"I... I don't know," says Professor Diggs. "I've never seen a creature like that before, but..."

The hooded figure turns towards the animals as it stores the crystal under its cloak. It then raises its hand and makes a waving motion with it, causing all the lights in the room to go out. Despite the darkness, its glowing eyes are still visible, their gaze fixed on the group.

"W-Who are you?" Jack says to the cloaked figure.

(Wanda tries to cast a brightness spell to brighten the room back up, her eyes not leaving the cloaked figure as she does so.)

Who...are you?

Wanda's spell manages to light the room back up a bit.

The creature does not respond to Jack and Krista's questions, and it's not entirely clearly it understands them. Instead, it spreads its arms and proceeds to split into four copies of itself, which surround the group.

"H-huh?" says Peter.

Jack stands close to Peter. "This looks bad."
