I have no idea what's going on in that pic and am not where I can look at the link that goes with it; seconding the pull.
Pull
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Only has a tangential connection to the trope (the Internet); pull. The full strip◊ has nothing to do with the trope.

Keet cleanupThe link just points to the webcomic's main page. Pull.
Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand!Pull.
(Annoyed grunt)Any one frame of this comic◊ should do the trick.
Which one do you like the most?
Personally, I like the third one.
"Get me a gun, I'm a soldier; but put me in that suit and I'm a superhero." - Gunnery Sgt Roberta "Bobbie" Draper MMCeither suggestion works; not sure which i prefer.
Twitter/Instagram: anzasquiddles. Deviantart: anzahanifathallah.Alrighty then!
Option A:
Option B:
Option C:
Option D:
B-D don't need captions, but I'm not opposed to giving them clever ones.
Personally, I prefer A for the page, and the source comic for B-D for ImageLinks.

"Get me a gun, I'm a soldier; but put me in that suit and I'm a superhero." - Gunnery Sgt Roberta "Bobbie" Draper MMC13A probably works. the rest have way too small texts to read properly.
Twitter/Instagram: anzasquiddles. Deviantart: anzahanifathallah.Option A (but try to get rid of the JPEG artifacts). The others rely too much text, which is also too small and difficult to read.

The universe is under no obligation to make sense to us.A is the best of the lot.
How exactly do any of those illustrate the trope? This isn't "what the internet used to be like"; this is "the internet used to be close-knit due to inaccessibility".
...Is this even a trope?
Not really. It's just defining the term. The actual trope is It's Popular, Now It Sucks!.
I don't think it really needs an image, then.
(Annoyed grunt)Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure Pureness
The images suggested are about the contrast of the post-boom 90s Internet to today's Internet, not about the Internet becoming widely adopted after it was exclusive to mainly college students.
Keet cleanupThat's not actually a trope either...
To be fair, the page doesn't clearly define what the concept is. It could be that, or it could be the internet's Early-Installment Weirdness before the mass influx of new users forced web developers to get serious. In which case, any of the suggestions work.

"Get me a gun, I'm a soldier; but put me in that suit and I'm a superhero." - Gunnery Sgt Roberta "Bobbie" Draper MMCIf we want to illustrate the Early-Installment Weirdness of the Web, then a screenshot of a '90s style webpage would work, if it can be fit into wikisize.

Unless I'm missing somwthing, the picture has literally nothing to do with the trope. Motion to pull?
