If you have any interest in Archie's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures, you probably must have heard about Forever War - if not, this article should fill you in.

It seems that at long last, the story will be released - once it's crowdfunded. Again, TMNT Entity has a article about it, so I'll just leave the link.

[up] Never heard of this until now. Sounds epic though.

But what's with Raph and the black suit?

Alright, it's been a decade since the official attempt at getting this off the ground, hopefully this finally pays off for everyone involved.

I remember occasionally buying an Archie era story back when the UK sold the books under the "Hero Turtles" banner. I remember being quite bewildered at the fact Shredder barely appeared...in fact, he and Krang were dealt with fairly early on so they could focus on original adversaries. Was this to get out of paying David Wise and/or Eastman and Laird additional royalties to keep using them?

[up] I think it's just cause as time went on the comic developed its own stories/rogues gallery, like Archie Sonic. (Ever see the one with the demon Null, or the one where the Turtles tricked Hitler into killing himself?) Archie got in trouble back in the day for skewing so dark.

Here's a link to the comic's trope page.

[up] That kind of answered my first question...to develop original adversaries. Also Shredder barely appeared in the original canon anyway, so it makes sense they wanted to reflect that for their audience.

When you think about, Shredder seems to be one of few iconic Big Bad villains who avoid Joker Immunity. In almost every version he gets defeated, either banished or killed, and then show goes on without him for at least a season.

[up] Yeah, 4Kids TMNT was quite adamannt about not using Utrom Ch'rell after season three, they got creative and began using Shredder as a template for other characters. A heel turn from Karai, then they brought in the demon Shredder that was the inspiration for Ch'rell, then they did Cyber Shredder, before bringing Ch'rell back for the Grand Finale crossover movie

[up] I kinda miss Ch'rell. I want him to have some major relevance again.

The storm has now resided, the wolf now rests.

I've only now noticed the Ashcan editions of the unofficial Forever War series have been releasing the past few years, only one issue now is unaccounted for and that's the last part. Has anyone here purchased any copies?
