Squad 3-Martin

With Renegade safely placed into a superhuman containment unit Martin felt safe to look for any stragglers still within the convention center, stumbling along Finn and feeling a wave of guilt hit him, dropping in front of him. "You don't look so good, so you need a lift back to the University?" his usual heroic demeanor was deflated, but his offer still rang with earnest intent.

Squad 3 - Convention Center (Finn)

Finn felt somewhat guilty upon being asked for a lift back. He looked down at the ground. He didn't make eye contact.

"Hey...can I ask you something? Am I a...bad hero? Sorry for asking it all of a sudden I just......"

Despite having his head down, there was a few tears running down his cheeks.

"A bad hero," he closed his eyes and thought about that question. Maybe his silence would have been damning to others, but it was clear he was really thinking. "Finn, how many people have you saved in your life?"

He gave him a moment to think and smiled. "Let me guess, you aimed low. Maybe three digits? Less? You're wrong." He put a hand on Finn's shoulder. "Because for every one person you save, you save everyone connected to that person. Someone doesn't cry over a lost son or daughter, someone's best friend gets to call them. You put your ass on the line, no one is forcing you to, no one would mind if you went for the simple life, but you are here, saving more people then you can imagine. Because someone sees you and says 'I want to be like him when I grow up' and they go on and save people after you. You aren't a bad hero. You aren't a good hero. You're just a hero Finn," he looked to the stadium. "Most people made it out okay, but there might be one or two trapped somewhere. Want to make a few more differences today?"

Finn finally was able to look up. He took his arm and rubbed his tears.

"I may not be the best with words...but, thank you. You know, it actually feels good to get this off my chest because I have been repressing ...a lot...I...to be honest, felt like I was useless...Maybe, I have been too hard myself. Thank you, I think I needed to hear that. Let's do what you said and go rescue those remaining people who may be in trouble." He said, being strong even if voice wavered a bit.

Iridium Wonders – The Ruins

Dante's closed eyes moved a bit. He was starting to return to his senses.

After a while, he finally opened them. The sun's rays almost hurt his eyes. Being in trapped in that dimension for so long has made him used to its dark, shadowy atmosphere so much, that his eyes kind of adapted to that level of light.

Regardless, he saw the sunlight again, and that's good.

The young man looked around himself. He seemed to be inside some kind of box, which was reminiscent of a cot center.

He started to get out of it, which was difficult: his muscles were pretty strained, however he needed to use the last of his strength.

His body was out of the makeshift cot center except his right leg, but, at worst of times, he lost his balance, tripping into the ground (and possibly destroying the cot center) as a consequence. He let out a small    Ow...    before deciding that crawling was the best movement optional, because of his current state.

He started to sloppily crawl, observing his surroundings: the really hot purple flames of Dementius, that he released a while ago. The corpses of some Eternal Horde mooks. The fallen, inactive body of the Intergalactic Guardian Angel.

As he crawled, a thought crossed his mind.

Mahvash...?   , he mentally called for her,    ...did he...hurt someone...besides the civilians whose souls were eaten?   , he asked.

You might know everything I'm going to do...but that's not going to help you, since I KNOW EVERYTHING YOU'RE GOING TO DO! STRANGE, ISN'T IT?

Holiday – Saint University

The ACP straightened her back somewhat at the news.

“Tom might have come across her location during his exploration. He has a removable chip in his processor unit that I uplink to. Take it out. You may be able to find her position based off what he saw.”

She sunk back down again, a pneumatic, wheezing sigh escaping her mechanical throat.

“Excluding that, I cannot help you. Father would surely kill me if I went out in this state. Especially if the option of repairs were quite literally surrounding me. Unless you for some reason bring her back here. Or alternatively, I move someplace else... I may be able to talk to her, see. But I doubt this laboratory is the best place to do it in if the implications regarding her mental state are indeed correct.”

Tom scuttled over as commanded, a little livelier now that he was charged up again. His head section unfurled and extended out his processor—a silver chip slotted into the circuitry visible alongside a black variant.

“The silver one is his primary processor chip. The black is my backup chip. Take the former—though it's best to know the other exists.”

Vivian-Somewhere In A Deep Dark Hole

Insanity is often the logic of an accurate mind overtasked.

Vivian Courthope hurried down the narrow stairs, almost tripping. Her legs were very stiff from sitting in the chair for so long, and her head throbbed. "Make the right choice, she says." It isn't a choice. It is a necessity. It must be done. Everything I've done leads to this, and she just up and pops Sally into a new body with no heads up from anyone else. A soft giggle escaped her lips, though she didn't stop running down. The world will thank me for becoming a better hero. Drones were dispatched on the way to delay any intruders.

As soon as she got to the bottom she began hitting switches. Lights came on, and she pulled a sheet from two huge machines. One was a bed, similar to the one that Sally was using back at the University but markedly more primitive. The other was her prototype Suit, the most powerful and advanced model. Some of the weapons and tools weren't quite finished, but that could be done later.

She was running out of time; very likely the Iron Maiden would be busting down the door to stop her 'choice, and that would be a very great pity. She made sure the last few wires and connections were fitted and leaped onto the bed, hitting a button as she did. Instantly two bulbs blew out, and she had a last moment to wish she'd disconnected the building from the local power grid before everything went dark.

Labs

"Thanks, but—" Armada barely had a chance to do a thing before the lights briefly dimmed. At first she thought it might've been a storm, but last she checked there wasn't a cloud in the sky. On a hunch she closed her eyes and scanned the school's power grid, checking for any disturbances.

And as it turned out, one of the buildings Perry said Vivian may have been in just had a brief power spike.

"Fuck. Anyone who's comin' better come now 'cause we need to get over there ASAP. I really hope I'm wrong, but I think she's already done it."

As if today couldn't have been any worse.

Saint Academy, Robotics and Engineering Class — January 10, 2020

In the wake of the brouhaha between the Guardians and the Terrans, the rift between those in support of nonhumans and those against continued to widen. The Purists as they had started to call themselves cited the Guardians/ assault as proof that nonhumans were dangerous beasts that needed to be locked up for the good of all, while those who were pro-Guardians said that if the Purist's hadn't attempted to fuel an inclusive and blatantly racist agenda, the Guardians wouldn't have attacked in the first place. Nor would the Terrans. And of course there were those saying both sides were to blame, though the less said about that the better. Regardless, things weren't any better than they were before the convention, and it only seemed to be getting worse.

As for the Academy, things weren't exactly sunshine and roses either. On the same day as the attacks, two separate instances of human/transference had occurred within the space of a single day. While there weren't any laws prohibiting such a thing, given the circumstances of the latter transference, it was heavily suggested that the staff start reminding students of the consequences such an act could bring and to be absolutely sure before they turned themselves into the Bicentennial Man. And since Armada was holding a class on robotics and engineering today, there were no doubts that this would be brought up.

The classroom itself was large and spacious, if not exactly pristine. The floors and walls were made of sleek metal, and grease stains were occasionally splattered across the floor and tables. There were racks full of tools and utensils for welding and grafting, as well a smaller room in the back containing computers used to finetune AI and the like. There were also containers holding various robots and other machines, all of which were unfinished and likely works in progress. As for Armada, she was nowhere to be found, but there were still a few minutes before class officially began in earnest.

Lily + Jen – Robotics & Engineering (Squad 1)

It was in a shy, quiet fashion Lily entered class.

Highly reminiscent of another sensitive and anxious individual. But Lily carried herself differently. Lucy always seemed to be afraid of her reactions. Her own self. Lily seemed more adverse to alienation.

Lucy sat nearer the back. Lily sat more central. Oftentimes in her own little world. Meditating or weaving water between her fingertips. Never wanting to make a scene. Internalising; the only hints of what she was thinking subconsciously displayed in her body language.

Like now. Brows furrowed as she took in the cool, metal environment. Sitting down with her arms clasped around her own body—which was shivering involuntarily against the slight chill of the room. Her tics had faded with time. In return, she had seemed to become even more gentle and aware.

A muted ‘puff’ signalled the local enigma's arrival (excluding Mahvash, of course). She sniffed at the air almost reflexively, hands clasped around the back of her chosen seat before she let herself slump down into it. Regained memories did nothing for learned habits, and Jenni was still Wren by nature.

She just pouted less and didn't scratch at people when they tried to grab her do much.

Holiday – Robotics & Engineering (Squad 3)

Caution. Caution. Caution.

With adaptation came awareness. Holiday never really looked at broken or unfinished technology the way she used to. Granted, if it was a common tool or piece of equipment she could detach herself fine. But exposed ocular sensors, vocal processors, vials of fluid...

Caution. Caution.

Unnerved her.

It was like walking into a robotic butchery.

Releasing stress reducers . . . stabilized. Stress alleviated.

But she had other means of objectifying her viewpoint.

“Fascinating,” she whispered, voice a mere crackle as she pored over one of the cases. “Such intriguing designs... with varying purpose.”

Eventually her internal clock warned her of the imminent start of class, and she reluctantly tore herself away to find a seat. Based off of gathered information regarding her classmates' individual personalities, she wondered A: who would sit where and B: where she should sit by extension.

Deciding to leave it up to chance, she took a seat third row from the front and one from the left hand side. Her hands automatically clasped themselves together in an idle fashion atop her desk before reaching into a compartment in her torso—drawing out a miniature Rubik's Cube for her to occupy her mind with. Her feet tapped absently against the floor, and after consideration she slipped off her shoes. Little things. Minor, yet very distinct decisions were being made.

Holiday sometimes smiled. Outside of her programming. Broke out into clumsy but genuine laughter at jokes, even surprising herself. Expressed uncertainty. Trepidation. Fear. Anxiety. Even she didn't know what was happening to her.

But her dear creator, Alex, just smiled and shook his head when she asked. Grinned expectantly and whispered excited observations she had recorded to his lab partner. Somehow, this behaviour both alleviated her fear and increased it. On the one hand, it meant he knew what he was doing.

On the other hand, it meant he knew what he was doing.

Evelyn – Robotics & Engineering (Squad 4)

Meanwhile, Evelyn was humming as she walked in.

Pale, colourless eyes scanned across the classroom for a moment before she chose a seat, barely acknowledging her classmates until she'd finally sat down. More content and involved she was in keeping track of everyone, smiling softly and nodding to those who arrived after her. She'd started to relax recently. Become more accepting of things. After all, she'd managed to have fairly privileged circumstances as of late, she'd realised:

She'd overcome her blindness.

She'd evolved her powers.

She'd gotten a boyfriend maybe she thought she wasn't sure but it damn well felt like it and she loved him to death.

She'd remembered her name.

She'd started expressing herself better.

Really, the only things bothering her now were those out of her control. Clay's wellbeing. Vivian's wellbeing. Heck, everyone's wellbeing.

And yet no matter how she tried, it was an uphill battle for her to actually show it.

And honestly? That was what was killing her.

Iridium Wonders 2 January [Not quite Midway]

A Gathering of Sorts. A little bit of a Debriefing. Not a Class.
"Sally, would have told you about her changes," Mahvash nodded toward the girl. "If she hasn't had the time to go over everything, its her story."

She had waited until just after the squad—sans Dante—gathered together, only giving the last the time for butt to hit plastic seat. The most punctual had time to adjust. For Dante, she'd take down some redacted notes. She stared at them awhile letting them breathe and taking them in. Names, faces, aura, demon taint. Right. I can rinse that down while I'm here, but it has to stay for just a bit.

"First of all," She unfolded her hands, leaning on the desk, broadcasting that she was a tad more approachable. At the moment. "That's going to feel like static cling. I told you that that crawling demon tried to mark you and to be accordingly vigilant. I'm also not going to put that pressure on you on top of everything for long. The very next assignment we have is hunting him down. If you want to claim the skin for a rug or get it tanned for a nice bag, put your name in the jar now. We can hold a raffle at week's end."

The glint of amusement rose and died like well, like what they just saw. "Immediate because of what I just said and the small fact that our demon ties down at least two out of five of us. And it'd be a problem if it were just one, but its Dante and the one who has to watch him. On that little detail, I may have to keep him in a containment room, and, full disclosure, that's a cage. The type of cage meant for patients not criminals (depending on what he says), but yeah, its a cage."

"That's not decided," She tilted her head, watching them process things. "But at the very least, he couldn't be in the field until we meet and sit down with the demon. As things are now, we'd have to work into tasks and daily life the high chance that Dante'll be overtaken at any time. As far as operations go, a person like that is a nonstarter." After everything. Between Bozo's binds and being near me, Jumping Bean, and Perry, Dante'd almost have to have been calling the demon. And if he is...

"Now," she straightened, mimicking the lotus position atop a desk and giving everyone a level stare. "During the encounter at the convention center I, Peregrine, and Cole dug straight for the artifact that the guardians coveted. Malhareff, our sphinx, dug after our small force and arrived with Sally, having overridden her control of her mechanical body."

Mahvash paused then. A short one. She gave it just enough time to study the group, primarily Sally. She'd told the story, heard it, and lived it but still, the whole reason for her taking her time giving the squad a report was not to dig into her wounds. "So, he became the latest in a long line to try trading a hostage for for some means of power. I will tell you now to never play along, and I will remind you now I didn't. Its old, trying to put pressure on you to trade something for nothing under the weight of the moment. He was not demanding we trade the artifact for Sally's life and freedom, Malhareff was to have us trade the artifact for his promise to respect Sally's life and freedom. His empty promise."

She held the desk, leaning in toward the group. "If that sounds fantastic or merely excusing, I'll have you ask whatever details you wish and I'll have you note that handing over the artifact would not have switched the override off. I'll also tell you that we held more artifacts and the very next demands would have been 'now give me the other ones if you want Sally.' After that would have either been some version of 'Put Down Your Gun and Step Away' or 'give me x tech or records you have if you want her back'. I'll also have you know, Sally is a known combatant of our side whose return would return some of our strength. Said return would depend entirely on said enemy's goodwill. And if the Cold Equation mattered at all, letting the guardians complete their hunt would lead straight to catastrophe. Our school has given us a few courses on hostage situations and we can take whatever cues we can find from extracurriculars. In this case, the hostage stands between you and the hostage taker but also between you and them."

She gave them another moment, more playing with her tea cup than stirring it. Let them process that as they would. She didn't need the drink but it gave them an informal timer to think. "This is where our discussion gets to the realm of calls, discretion, sum of experience, and any of you can note what you would have done differently. It won't help that situation, and it doesn't matter here in our air conditioned room. It will come up when you're confronted with the choice. When these things come up, you fall back on your training, the things you've practiced enough to ingrain as 'instinct'. No one rises to the occasion, and I'll tell you about Cole in a minute."

"For my part, I sent Perry and Cole away with the artifact and a decoy respectively. I never even considered giving Malhareff the artifact. And he thought he'd won. He made no preparations to chase. What the people in these situations only dimly realize is, as I've said, they've put themselves in as much a bind as anyone. He was never going to leave that chamber with Sally and if he hit the button, he was never going to leave it. As things were in that moment, the future would have been us staring at each other and maybe circling until he folded. Use pressure and stark reality to show him the only thing he'd ever 'win' was his life and he had no other choices."

She spun her finger in the air before mimicking a child's mimic of an explosion. "I overestimated Cole though. Didn't have the time to worm my way past our sphinx's false bravado. I laid out why hostage situations like that are doomed to failure, but they work. That is why people do them. All that stuff I told you comes from training and experience and sense. If you buckle under pressure or are undertrained, you can't really think. Normally though, you give them everything they ask and get shocked when they walk away with the hostage and the prize. In Cole's case, he lashes out at the other student there. Which is noteworthy for when next you meet one of them. Malhareff is so good or our fellow so bad that Cole completely bought the framing that Malhareff was doing his level best to save Sally if only he could get the artifact. That's not a trivial detail. This kind of standoff turns almost entirely on psychology, what will you do, when will you 'blink', what do I really know that you will do."

She had them sitting there for how long now? Mahvash looked at her china, declining to pour a refill. "After Cole became a distraction/quasi-ally of Malharaff, things came to heat of the moment, that is quick ways to get to Sally before she was consumed in the psychic blast or the sphinx responded to Cole's aggression with an equal gesture." She really didn't need to spell out that starting off big like that would have lead to Sally's immediate execution did she? Seems like Malharaff would do it as a measuring contest.

"And so we're here." She slid off the desk. This gathering had no bell, but it was a sign of imminent dismissal. "And I just told you tactical details. On the operational level, we still had the convention center and the demon, Peregrine alone in the tunnel, and Dante's body laying in the middle of everything. To start with. But I've kept you quite long. You can think about things, you can ask whatever you want in a group or individually. You can blow your stipends at a bowling alley if you want to spend the money before I take you for free. But don't just sit your butts there. Or study. Go do something with your time off."

Cole - Squad 4

To say that Cole took a different view of what happened would be an accurate picture of events. As he arrived at the class, having flown home after the engagement was fully resolved, Cole hanged around both the Squad 4 Dormitory Area and at a certain Bar nearby, where he had acquired a job as the local tavern singer.

As far as the hostage situation, he saw the whole thing as Mahvash being exactly as he remembered.

He distinctly recalled the all out attack his Mahvash...er, Matten as she called herself, initiated on Clan Asher headquarters, attacking the base with missiles, slaughtering medics in order to make sure nobody could be treated for their injuries, and ripping Tom in half in front of Cole purely out of spite for defeating her "most promising students". It was only thanks to Tom's...unique gifts that he survived that.

He saw the whole thing as choosing between the person (Sally) and the goal (the artifact). He knew they already had a sizable lead in terms of artifacts, and unless the Guardians wanted to mount a full frontal assault, they'd likely not be able to acquire the artifacts the University already had.

And what he valued was choosing the person over the goal. Valuing your goals over people, in his mind, inevitably led to devaluing people in favor of ever escalating goals. Which, well, never ended well.

He was just as well ashamed of letting Malhareff push him into that angry extreme. He'd thought he learned from his brother on that subject, but the sheer familiarity of Mahvash's words and choice in the moment and that peck at his side from Malhareff had—-

Cole sighed - looking around for Perry and the others. Evelyn looked to be in good condition, which did bring a fresh smile to his face.

     Telling What Happened

During the meeting, Sally decided to fully tell what had happened:

"So, I have a lot to explain and I wanted to tell you all. Maybe you have noticed it and maybe you haven't what has happened to me. The truth is...I am an android now via my mind being uploaded into this mechanical body. What happened was to escape Malhareff's clutches, to prevent being killed by him and to prevent giving him a victory, I had my metal implements be unmade and knowing the consequences of what could happen given those were what was keeping me alive. It was a decision I had to make in those moments. As I bled, I gave my mother permission to upload me to an android body. I wanted to be able to be alive with everyone and that was the main impetus for my choice. Despite being attacked on the way to the lab, I managed to be uploaded in time thanks to Mother, Holiday and Ryuu all helping out against the attacker. Regardless, I want to tell you all I am still the same person I have always been, just in another form now. I haven't changed mentally."

     Interim
The days that followed the upload were full of learning to adapt to this new form, both physically and mentally. She had to learn how to get comfortable moving and being able to perform actions. There was a lot of stumbling and screw ups in the earlier days but, it got a little easier each day. It still felt a little awkward but, at least she didn't feel completely sluggish. Then there was the matter of adapting to no longer having to do certain behaviors such as not needing to breathe, sleep, eat or drink. It felt odd not doing things that used to come naturally. Mentally, there was addressing it. At this point, her class basically knew she was an android now whether she told them, they heard it third hand and/or notice the physical changes. To Sally herself, she couldn't shake the feeling she was in a weird in between. She wasn't physically human anymore and yet, her mind still the same. She still felt like the same person and even now, the new android body looked just about like her old body. She was glad she did not end up like a shell like she had once feared and most of all, she wasn't alone in this odd transition.

Squad 2 (The Iridium Wonders) - Robotics Class (Sally)
Sally entered class and took her seat. It was her mother's class today and knowing some more about robotics could help with understanding her new state better. She waited for the rest of her Squad to come by.

Squad 1 - Mason

Robotics was one of the classes that Mason knew he would excel at, mainly for the sheer purposes that he knew how to make little robots. It wasn't to the level or complexity of his robotically-enhanced classmates but he did know a thing or two, so even if he couldn't excel he knew at least enough to make sure he passed a decent amount. So this class he made sure to pack his little robotic helpers.

Tesla. Franklin. Clarke. And Rosa.

He sat in his seat near the left hand side, making a quick nod to the rest of his Squad Mates (All 2 of them at the start, Jenni looking better each day and Lily looking more and more timid each day) before he let his bag drop to the side, shifting and skittering seen in the inside a bit before it settled down.

The Iridium Wonders-Martin

It had been a hard decision, to move squads like he was doing. Part of it felt like giving up, saying that there was nothing he could do for the situation. And that was true, things had transpired that couldn't be changed, and at the very least he didn't feel like things would change for quite some time. Still he was looking forward to his new assignment within the university, or maybe just getting to spend more quality time with Mahvash. Even if said quality time would also extend into combat. At the very least he wasn't dumb enough to think she needed protection, no more then anyone else he was working with anyway.

Still it felt odd, moving past the usual grouping for squad 3 and moving to the others. "Hey there, I will be joining you guys for the near future, I'll try not to be too much of a burden, but uh...robotics isn't really my class so I might have to get some support." given the fact that technology would only work for him long enough to get the warranty passed by he wasn't being humble in the least.

Squad 4-Clay

Clay was nervous, which wasn't a common look on the cocksure cowboy who more often then not walked into any situation with a swagger and sense of purpose that most didn't hold. But it was easy to tell that something was on his mind even as he entered the room, his hand fiddling with something in his dusters pocket as if checking to make sure it hadn't fallen loose. Today was a big day, and any number of things could screw it up. Sure he had it all in his head, a hundred different situations all planned out. He had put less thought into some fights then he had something as simple as this, but it would rain fire before he screwed it up.

"You're looking beautiful as ever," Clay placed a kiss atop Evelyn's head and then turned to Cole. "And you look like a donkey kicked you 'tween the legs. Heard about the big dust up, sorry we couldn't be there to back you up. Plenty o' stragglers and such to worry about and we had to help where we could. Next time we'll play it closer to the vest."

Squad 1 - Robotics Class - Ellie

Ellie strode in and moved towards her adoptive daughter. Along the way, however, she caught sight of Lily. The waterbender was always aloof, separate, but Ellie could tell she didn't want to be alone.

"Morning baby, Mason." She greeted her team as she passed.

The demoness strode up behind Lily and lean forward, wrapping her Squadmate in a hug, pulling Lily's head against her bosom. Unlike the cool of the room, Ellie's body was made bright and warm by the lightning in her veins.

"And morning to you too, Lils. You're a little chilly, huh?"

Squad 3 - Robotics Class - Mikael

Walking in with his girlfriend after giving her one last kiss, Mikael broke off to sit with his own Squad.

After regaining his memory, he'd told her of what Renegade had stolen. She was, predictably, upset that he had hidden it from her. She'd also reflexively wanted to find where Renegade was being held and kill him, but they both concurred such a thing would probably be a bad idea.

She'd forgiven him all the same. He hadn't really acted much different, anyway, and if anything having lost and regained that memory merely made him love her more.

His desire to kill Renegade, however, may have inadvertently led to Martin moving to Squad 2. He wasn't actually sure if Martin wanted to get away from him, or if Martin just wanted to be on a team with Mahvash.

No use dwelling on it, either way.

He plopped down next to his Squad's newest addition, smiling at her in a way he hoped wasn't creepy. He'd felt slightly bad about not greeting her before the convention attack happened, so he'd made a point to try and hang out with her more afterward. Her being a robot, he didn't know if she could actually be offended, but still, she was his Squadmate now.

"Hey, Holiday. Guess this class is kind of weird for you, isn't it." He looked over the various robot parts. "Like your version of a human dissecting a cadaver."

Mikael briefly reflected that he probably sucked at small talk.

What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?

Iridium Wonders - Initiation. Oh and Robots

First it was a tome, a far too pristine thing, split between some kind of scratches and good old American English on the other pages. It almost turned the right page when she dropped it on Mason's desk. That would've been cooler. Eh. Mahvash gave the book a small nod, turning it neat and straight from Mason's perspective before flipping, two fingers stretching and pulling. Then she stopped on one, running a finger on the scratches side and another before a paragraph in English.

"Its starts with Demotic and has the barest smattering of Hieratic script and far too much Koine Greek. Thankfully, a good chunk was kept in Aramaic records, which helped translating. You can go to the old script and history for context. I wrote numbers of some historians, curators, linguists, and others in the index. And its not a book. Its a collection of notes I dug up on our sphinx over the break. Where the bookmark is, are pictures of his clockpunk zombies and notes, like 'after exposure to air', 'absence of sunlight', movement, 'behavior in a crowd' and wire exposed under different circumstance. That's not my area, and I hear that its yours. I'll give you mostly intact specimens when you're ready. Do us a favor, and build a profile on our sphinx and his methods. It'll be a worthy class project idea."

If they kept escaping this could go on forever, but Malhareff had the most cumbersome logistics. Then use the others' talents to verify the Guardians' movements, stop letting them choose when and where action happens, and end their insurgency with a TPK.

Iridium Wonders - Initiation ho!

She'd left Mason with the book and about faced quickly. Not much more to discuss there. "Oh, Mr. Snow," Mahvash oozed the words with even more exaggerated formality before bowing. "Sally can show you the ropes on that. In the meantime..."

"She brought a small gift from her satchel, presenting it. "We're just attached to our ceremonies. I must give you a gift and a formal welcome. And a formal announcement. We just need you in uniform. Sally probably has your steed on the way." 'Steed.' I think that's what they call that brand of unicycle.

Wilma (1)

Wilma had twirled into the cool room with both arms spread wide like she was an airplane, and then dropped them as she began to contemplate her surroundings with a serious look on her face.

"These are interesting times that we live in," she remarked, joining Ellie and Lily. "If you can think about it like that, then it doesn't seem so bad. We're all just acting a role, y'know...Hmm...that might not apply to everyone..."

Wilma's gaze dropped to her feet as she mumbled to herself.

Jumping Bean (3)

Jumping Bean trooped into class looking as cheerful as usual, but if one looked closely, she seemed strained.

"Greetings, my Squad, my homies," she said as she joined them. "May the Tao turn in our favor, eh?" There was a sardonic tone to that, as Jumping Bean remembered Ivy Mountain's words.

Perry (4)

Perry slinked into the class quietly, looking around at all the odd equipment and bits and bobs lying around. She felt that it would be best to not touch any of them.

Geistcutter had comforted her over her actions at the fracas some time ago, so at least she felt better now. She went over to Cole and greeted him by butting his leg with her head.

Mason - Squad 1

Thump.

The suddenness made Mason jump about an inch or two into the air as he spun about to face in the midst of telling him what was currently in the book she'd just unceremoniously dropped on his desk. Mahvash was an entity Mason never really knew how to handle or even begin thinking about. The general consensus was that Mahvash simply was, and the fact they weren't dead was a sign that she was a good person.

Deep, deep, deep, deep, deep, deep down.

He gulped a bit as she instructed him further and gestured to the points in the book about the Sphinx that had led the attack back at the convention center and that was enough to catch his attention back to the situation at hand. This was incredibly thorough for being in like, six languages, but if he could figure out a little bit more about those weird zombies he had...

The fact she has some that are relatively intact is both hopeful and a little concerning. Looks like I have a brand new project for this.

"Got it." Was all he could muster, a look of determination on his face and his voice laced with equal amounts of it. She turned about, and he looked down to the book, sifting through it and making mental notes and mental connections.

Fuckers not gonna get the drop on us next time. He thought to himself.

Is it selfish that I'm happy as we pass the setting sun?

Lily – Robotics & Engineering (Squad 1)

The hydrokinetic audibly gasped as she was pulled into the surprise hug, flushing a bright red and going momentarily limp as her brain worked overtime in formulating the correct response. Eventually, she managed to catch her breath and stammer something out—though she was still a noticeable shade of crimson even then.

“U-Uhh... I-I'm fine, thanks...” she squeaked, evidently having decided that the desk in front of her was the only vaguely interesting thing that wouldn't embarrass her to look at. “...I-I've just... I've just been thinking, that's all...”

Great. That explains it, she sighed internally, mentally slapping herself for her ineptitude in functioning under stress. God damn it, why does she have to be so blatant about it...?

Lily had realised quickly that for someone like her who overthought things it got extremely hard to distinguish when someone like Ellie was acting flirty or just trying to be motherly. She supposed part of it was her time spent growing up in the Abyss. She supposed another part of it was her own anxiety making a meal out of it. In whatever case, she was still blushing.

...At least she wasn't chilly anymore.

Holiday – Robotics & Engineering (Squad 3)

Holiday momentarily paused to give Mikael the mechanical equivalent of a stink eye, before resuming her idle shuffling of her Rubik's Cube even as she spoke.

“Quite. It is in fact, extraordinarily similar to that. Thankfully I've had prior exposure before this class, as my father is even more blatant in his display of unfinished machines. And even more disorganized. Imagine wading through a sea of intestines and neatly chopped slices of skin and you'll understand the feeling. I'm sure.”

She internally frowned at her own curtness, but shook it off as she placed the cube down with a sigh. He deserved a proper greeting, after all. With that in mind, she turned fully to him and nodded in acknowledgement.

“Excuse my rudeness. I've been experiencing... changes. I feel rather lost, a lot of the time... But in any case, good morning. Or afternoon. What time is it?”

That was odd. Had she forgotten it?

No, she simply hadn't checked. She didn't ‘forget.’

...Which was even odder. She always checked.

...Huh.

“...Well regardless, good,” she finished, turning back to her puzzle and briefly inspecting the thing. She was always fascinated by how things worked. Little snippets of ingenuity that ultimately meant nothing but a provision of a mind game. Extraordinary.

“And how are you this fine whatever-it-is? Since barring my mild trepidation of being surrounded by the immortal corpses of my brethren, my upgrades are suiting me rather well,” she mentioned, lifting a particular (empty) panel and slamming a fist full-force into the pitch black metal below.

A loud clang reverberated through the classroom.

Without a scratch on her, she closed up the panel and continued on.

“I believe my hull integrity is enough to survive the full weight of a falling barge—minus significant deformation, it would not shatter. Perhaps you and me can match blows now. We'll have to see sometime, won't we?”

There was no challenge in her voice when she said that. Definitely not. Just anticipation. And curiosity. And mild excitement. Definitely no challenge. Nuh-uh. No sirree.

...Maybe a little challenge.

Evelyn – Robotics & Engineering (Squad 4)

Annnd there went her composure. Immediately. Damn it, this always happened. One single remark from him, even a relatively platonic kiss and she turned to jelly. She supposed that was a good sign, though. She managed a smile nonetheless, tentatively leaning back and clasping his hand in her own.

“You don't look too bad yourself, handsome.”

She looked at the other Cole after hearing Clay's remark, and she couldn't help but bite her lip and nod in silent agreement. He didn't look too good, and she'd been seeing him around a little less. He'd been taking it hard.

“...If you need anything, we can help...” she murmured almost automatically, looking up at him for a moment as she momentarily cast her Third Eye over his form. “...Y-You shouldn't... you shouldn't beat yourself up too much about it. If there's one thing I've learnt, mistakes get a lot bigger when you have superpowers...”

I.W, before

Ryuu didn't remember what happened that day. The most he managed was to hold Sally and completely shut down. He thought he said Dementius had an eye on them, but wasn't sure. Anything else was a vow to kill that sphinx bastard if he got half a chance.

I.W, now

The last few days were heavy on Ryuu, as he tried to do his best and be useful to the others, particularly help Sally with her new body. Some days, he really felt useless. So, entering the robotics class made him feel more nervous than usual.

Really, one of these days, I am gonna blow something up

But as said, "tomorrow will be another day"

Squad 1

Sam had a lot to adjust to in the last few days. Between feeling cold for the first time since he could remember to try to control the absolute zero properly, he might have needed a few trips to the nurse's office, but he wouldn't give up that easily. At least he still felt his everything.

So, entering the classroom wearing sunglasses would have been a bit suspicious, but tried to sit down calmly, even if he tried to not look like he has been pushing himself too hard again.

Doubt they'd leave him have some peace if they noticed it.

Wake me up at your own risk.

Iridium Wonders – Robotics' Class

A month ago, he and the other Wonder had a discussion. The implications of hostage situations were its main foci. He knew that what was said was important. But, to be blatantly frank, keeping watch of Dementius was his main priority.

He didn't want to have a repeat of what happened at the Convention Centre. And then, Mahvash actually gave him the duty to keep Dementi-douche at bay soo....

Dante entered the class. He walked around for a while before noticing Martin and Mahvash talking.

hellomartinsnowwelcometooursquadtheiridiumwondersihopeyouwillenjoyyourstayand—*Pant* *Pant*   , he started jumping up and down in excitement, before eventually tiring himself down.

Who knew that Mr. Snow had decided to join his Wonders. Dante doesn't really mind his presence...as long he and Mahvash won't constantly flirt with each other.

Squad 3 – Robotics' Class

A swarm of mosquitoes swiftly darted through the door as they condensed into a familiar lich.

"Greetings, Squad 3...", he made a polite wave. It seemed Mr. Snow has moved to the Second Squad, AKA the Iridium Wonders. Those inviduals sure were one of a kind.

The dæva (he was definitely wanted to learn some good tricks from her), the anthropomorphic tree, the spy, the cyborg, the dragon boy (he couldn't fully transform into a dragon, which kinda disappointed him) and the magical jester prince. About the last one...he was a really interesting fellow, but...he felt something from him. It was something malicious. He could recognize that maliciousness anywhere.

Ananse...

That young man...he was related to that trickster in one way or another, wasn't he?

Squad 4 – Robotics' Class

Iuvem arrived at the class.

Hi there, guys...   , he waved at his squadmates.

These containers...are we going to make some robots? Cool! I mean, the tech here is remarkably good, but...they cannot compare to the tech that the ancient civilizations that inhabited me had created, before they left me a million years ago. Or were they ten thousand years ago? Regardless of that, they left me a lot of time ago...maybe it's because they predicted my imminent destruction by Teroras and Zalah..., he mentally rambled.

He frowned a bit. Now I feel a bit sad..., he sighed, But I suppose it can't be helped...

If there were some windows, he would have opened them and stared at the sky.

I wonder if I will be able to become...Jupiter again in the future...   , he expressed his thoughts out loud, looking a bit somber.

You might know everything I'm going to do...but that's not going to help you, since I KNOW EVERYTHING YOU'RE GOING TO DO! STRANGE, ISN'T IT?
