Even if Sony loses the rights, Disney could just hire the Spiderverse crew to keep on making more animated movies for them.

A Marvel universe movie by them would be amazing. Imagine them working with the full MU.

I mean, Marvel Studios does have its own animation branch now. Or more accurately, they had one since 2021, but have dubbed it Marvel Animation as of X-Men '97. So on the (very) off-chance that Marvel nets the full cinematic rights to Spider-Man, they could very well do what you suggested.

At least, I thought they could, but apparently there's Marvel Animation the subsidiary (est. 2008) and now Marvel Animation the division (est. 2021), which is also referred to as Marvel Studios Animation, and now I'm really confused which would do Spider-Verse movies if Sony (somehow) lost the Spidey rights.

I guess the Marvel Animation division is more likely? (And incidentally, would anyone notice/care if they grandfathered the Spider-Verse animated movies onto Marvel Studios Animation? Like how people regard Nausicaä as a Studio Ghibli movie even though it was made before Ghibli was established?)

Either way, I welcome this scenario with a "HELL YEAH!"

that does sound awesome but sadly it's more likely that they will instead try to pull away spider-man from the mcu again despite they already proving they can't work anymore without it
There was that time Sony tried to yank Spidey from the MCU after FFH, but wasn't that because Venom 1 did really good financially and it got them thinking "hey, maybe we don't need the MCU anymore!"?

That was in 2018-2019. Meanwhile, MW is tanking harder than Morbius (insanely enough), but we still have Kraven and now the third Venom movie to look out for. If those movies don't make a profit (Venom 3 might, because it's Venom, though I have doubts about Kraven), I would be very surprised if Sony doesn't course-correct and negotiate further with Marvel Studios.

I think Kraven's chances to make a profit are based on how expensive it is. I doubt it will be super successful, but it might make a profit.

I think the Venom movies are successful because it appeals to a viable audience, not because they are especially good. They are distinct and not for everyone, but the group of people who like them is big enough.

Kind of weird that both the third Magic Mike movie and the third Venom movie kind of share the same subtitle of Last Dance. Haha.

I don’t know how reliable a source CanWeGetSomeToast is but they’re saying Sony’s already planning something new with Venom after The Last Dance: an R-rated animated movie written by Seth Rogen. Source is their Twitter.

That'd actually be a really good idea. In theory at least anyway.

My guess: this wouldn't have been part of the movie; it'd be a flat-out lie confined to the trailers like with Morbius.

That or an ending flashforward like the one that's already in the movie that the trailers would suspiciously highlight despite not actually being much of a thing, but instead of blatant sequel bait it'd be yet another "see, we're totally an MCU prequel, we swear" thing... ignoring that they already established that they aren't via shoving Tom Hardy into No Way Home and stealing Vulture.

I don't even think you have to go that far. Concept art doesn't have to be canonical in any sense. Someone just wanted to see what art of Spidey punching... I assume that's Ezekiel? would look like so this artist drew it up.

Nothing here is a lie.

All I know is that this now needs to be in Beyond the Spider Verse. No context. Just one live action Spider-Man fighting another.

[up][up]I don't think they were saying this concept art is a lie, just that if it did end up being used (as in a fight between Spidey and Ezekial), it would probably be confined to trailers or flashfowards.

Yeah, what I meant was, basically, if this art was ever intended to reflect something they wanted to use in the film, then going by Sony's established track record it would be something they would deliberately present inaccurately in some fashion, be it trailer lies or a desperate attempt at an MCU connection.

I feel like in a few years we'll get stories of what the original intent of Madame Web was supposed to be.

Maybe it was supposed to be more like Terminator and Peter was the intended target of Ezekiel originally, but isn't in the final product.

There were tons of reshoots supposedly.

I always though the concept of Madame Webb (superhero slasher/thriller that's more about surviving than defeating the villain) sounds fantastic, though the trailers have meant I'm not very enthusiastic about seeing it. Having it be about protecting Peter from Ezekial would be even cooler.

Other than Spider Man 3, I don't think there's any reshoot in any superhero movie I've seen that has significantly improved or ruined the film for me.

Spider Man 3 had a line in the trailer that I think was better in the film (when Peter confronts Marko he goes "everything" when Marko asks him what Ben meant to him; in the movie he yells "EVERYTHING.")

... I'll be honest, the Josstice League cut improved over the Snyder Cut by at least being shorter and Snark Bait, rather than the Snyder Cut being So Okay, It's Average and too long.

... and also adding Jared Leto's Joker.

Bringing into more relevance, the dropping of "Dr. Michael Morbius, at your service" is genuinely inexplicable. Why make that a Trailers Always Lie moment? It's actually a good line.

Random, but I started watching Ripley and Bokeem Woodbine has a small part as a hardboiled private investigator. I was impressed by his acting and I feel like he was wasted in the MCU.

I'd definitely like to see more of his Shocker (phrasing), who in some ways is a hardboiled character (the kind of "schlub who turns to crime" who Fed Macmurray liked to play).

So, I guess I'm saying, please cast Bokeem Woodbine in Spider-man Noir.

For me a reshoot that affected the film most notably is definitely Spider-man 3 and it is hard to pinpoint why, like to my knowledge it wasn't massively reshot, but it feels that way.
