OK, here's where this thread is standing, with the unlocking:
Given the widespread backlash and complaining about certain aspects of the work (i.e. Dexit), we wanted to communicate very clearly what we are not willing to put up with: prolonged, circular complaining (or wonking).
Of course, with a controversial subject that has a large impact on the gameplay, Dexit is in one of those areas where there it may be on-topic to discuss it, but the nature of that discussion can wildly vary. As has been said elsewhere, we ix-nayed discussion of Dexit entirely because it never seemed to happen without devolving into that kind of complaining.
However, we're willing to unlock the thread after this 3-day cooldown period because the Pokemon General thread has been stable enough. And -
Can I discuss Dexit?
Yes. But if there is prolonged wonking on it, the thread just becomes an echo chamber of complaints and we do not like that. No one likes that. The same rules as ever apply. Be a constructive, healthy space. Have conversations about what you like, and what you don't like, but the thread should not get locked into a series of bitter complaints.
If you have questions or concerns about mod implementation or action, we have a thread for that here.
Alright? Thank you all for waiting this out. I hope we're all good now.

I wonder if the gym leaders are also particpants because that conveniently takes care of the remaining 8, but i could have sworn the opening ceremony had more people.
8 + 5 is 13, not 16.
Perhaps the version exclusive Gym Leaders will still exist and take part in the League in both versions, even if theyβre not Leaders themselves?
Oh God! Natural light!Would make sense. It would give people from opposite versions a taste of the other Gym Leaders.
... And that's called jazz!I find that unlikely. Totally invalidates the idea that the Gym Leaders are exclusive.
I mean they'd still be exclusive as Gym Leaders even if they weren't exclusive as characters.
Iris and Drayden appeared in both versions after all.
Yeah, it would be a damn fine move for completing the bracket.
Of course, that's assuming there's 3 version-exclusive Gym Leaders (which isn't a particularly unreasonable assumption, just pointing out that we technically don't know that for sure).

Time for leeks?
Secret SignatureThe video specifically says Sword and not Shield. I wonder if it's exclusive?

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."So who's the shield exclusive? Durnsparce?
Secret SignatureMaybe a farfetch'd wearing an onion skin lmao
I love everything about it except for the type. Still not a fan of pure Fighting, I wish it were Fighting/Flying.
Welp, this basically confirms the "leek"
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. Now that we've properly seen it, I really like Farfetch'd and how its leek becomes a sword lance and shield. 😅

"Pardon me, that extremely loud and extremely deep voice you may have just heard. It was me. Oh, it is such a long story..."It's not a sword, more like a jousting spear
isn't it a rapier
Secret SignatureEven if you don't like it, it makes sense why Sirfetch'd is pure Fighting, it can't fly with that leek lance and shield.
Also, we know now where all of Sirfetch'd's weight comes from. The official art shows that lance specifically is huge.
Also, it looks like Sirfetch'd may have a signature move?

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."It says "Pokemon Sword version exclusive" on the bottom of the video so
probably
Yeah, but plenty of flightless bird Pokemon are part Flying Type.

- Not sure if it's Galar-only? Doesn't sound like there's any reason for it to be, but part of the description suggests it is. Have to wait for later games
- Signature move sounds like a giga impact clone
Also there's something about the "glitches" that's basically meaningless
Not that Farfetch'd is going to get any love after this, but I think it's some kind of weird company policy to find ways not to definitively lock old Pokemon into new forms or evolutionary states.

Hm... that they're actually calling it Sirfetch'd instead of Galarian Farfetch'd makes me wonder if this is indeed a new PokΓ©mon, or maybe a new evolution or something.
Either way, I'm not too enthused about it. New Farfetch'd. Pure Fighting. Not particularly exciting stuff.
EDIT:Ah, right, the site already says what I was wondering.

Three rivals and a Champion.
Four rounds in a 16 person tournament.
Hmmmmmmmm
