OK, here's where this thread is standing, with the unlocking:
Given the widespread backlash and complaining about certain aspects of the work (i.e. Dexit), we wanted to communicate very clearly what we are not willing to put up with: prolonged, circular complaining (or wonking).
Of course, with a controversial subject that has a large impact on the gameplay, Dexit is in one of those areas where there it may be on-topic to discuss it, but the nature of that discussion can wildly vary. As has been said elsewhere, we ix-nayed discussion of Dexit entirely because it never seemed to happen without devolving into that kind of complaining.
However, we're willing to unlock the thread after this 3-day cooldown period because the Pokemon General thread has been stable enough. And -
Can I discuss Dexit?
Yes. But if there is prolonged wonking on it, the thread just becomes an echo chamber of complaints and we do not like that. No one likes that. The same rules as ever apply. Be a constructive, healthy space. Have conversations about what you like, and what you don't like, but the thread should not get locked into a series of bitter complaints.
If you have questions or concerns about mod implementation or action, we have a thread for that here.
Alright? Thank you all for waiting this out. I hope we're all good now.

He eats A LOT of dirt.
Either way, it's 30 minutes passed the time Merrick claimed so either they're running late or he was talking out of his ass.
While the presentation is... interesting, what I think people are overlooking is why they'd do this. All the build-up and teasing suggests that this is something people are expected to be happy to see. I'd say it's a safe bet that this is a form or more likely an evo of an existing mon (which is already implied from the text), and we can also assume that said mon has had neither until now. Then there's the popularity issue (not shit like luvdisc) and people actually wanting something more (not something that looks "complete", like lapras) to consider
So, yeah, I think a farfetch'd evolution is actually pretty plausible, even ignoring the image, the text, the leak... A reasonably well-known single-stage pokemon that people have wanted an evolution for for decades now is exactly the sort of thing that'd get hyped like this
Either way, it's 30 minutes passed the time Merrick claimed so either they're running late or he was talking out of his ass.
You're a day early
Oh no
I was the one talking out of my ass
Well, Larvitar is pretty much a hunk of condensed rocks and doesn't have to care about being a regional variant of an already-existent Pokémon.
Then again, I'm expecting consistency from a game where a hunk of floating ice is heavier than that.
... And that's called jazz!I'd be amazed if this was actually a really roundabout way of announcing the second stage for the starters.
Wasn't there some leak stating that Scorbunny would become pure Fighting in the end and people thought it was an error?
Maybe it wasn't an error...
... And that's called jazz!Yeah, the most accurate leak said that Scorbunny "evolves to look like a fighter, but type-wise, remains pure Fighter". It's assumed that's a mistranslation and Scorbunny actually remains pure Fire, but maybe, if the 2nd form changes to a pure Fighting type, than the 3rd form would actually "remain" like that....
A starter losing their elemental typing would be a first.
And pure Fighting-Type Scorbunny would incite riots amongst the fandom.
Holy crap, I can't wait to see that. I have realized that it could be Sirfetch'd as an evolution of Farfetch'd rather than a variation, but now I want it to be Scorbunny's evo so bad

... And that's called jazz!Grookey’s drummer gimmick leads it to be Grass/Rock.
I'm down for a more offense-based Pokemon with Cradily's typing.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy.
What about Grass Psychic? I feel that maybe it's playing could have an effect on others.
A relatively fast, offensive Grass/Rock-type could be interesting, and giving it to a Starter might force them to make it more combat-viable. I just don't think Grookey will be the "fast" Starter, though.
... And that's called jazz!So I just saw that there won't be a classical Pokemon League, more like a tournament as in the anime

Certified: 48.0% West Asian, 6.5% South Asian, 15.8% North/West European, 15.7% English, 7.4% Balkan, 6.6% ScandinavianWell, this was more or less discussed here before, so it's not really surprising. And, just like it was said, it's very likely that the E4 will be just replaced by competitors that will fill the same role story-wise.
... And that's called jazz! That information has been out for months now. Whoever wrote that article was just trying to compensate for a slow news day.
also makes sense storywise, as the gym challenge is treated as a spectator sport in Galar
"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaI was actively thinking about this when it came up again and here are some things I thought of with the tournament.
- The tournament can still act like an E4, if they do a 16 seed bracket.
- The first one you go to can be set up to have you face off against your rivals. In an 8 seed bracket, you would always face off against your rivals, In a 16 seed bracket, you would have to face off against one random trainer in one of the first three matches in order to face off against all three rivals in the tournament.
- This would allow for a bit more randomness in the post-game, kinda like an extension of the Champion Defense in Sun/Moon. You would always face off against Leon, but the trainers you face off against in the post-game tournament and who they won against would be random.

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Or maybe not even face Leon as a Champion every time. If we go by standard football rules, you'd have to constantly prove yourself in subsequent tournaments even if you had won the previous time. He'd have to compete alongside everyone else and could possibly lose. So you could either face Leon earlier (if we go full random) or just have to defend your Championship against someone else, à la Alola.
... And that's called jazz!Interesting, but as a game's Final Boss? Just a random Joe from the tournament and not even Leon? I don't really see that.
I'm more into the idea of the tournament, then you win it, THEN you're deemed worthy enough of fighting Leon. The game could still pull a Team Plasma and interrupt the climax for thier own climax, tho.
Goddammit, Schezo... || *insert incredibly thirsty copypasta about Dr. Ratio*He means after the first time through
"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaYeah, that's what I meant.
It wouldn't even be hard to justify in-story: Leon has to work his way up the brackets like everyone else, but since he "never loses", he'll always be the Champion, so you can face him at the end of the story. Once whatever makes him undefeated goes away, his victories are no longer guaranteed and you may encounter him earlier in subsequent tournaments, as well as defend your Championship against other people.
Now, you could simulate the old E4 and same Champion format here, but then you'd have to not think too much about how the same people are in your side of the bracket while Leon himself never is.

... And that's called jazz! We've had tournaments before in both Emerald and BW 2, but whats being proposed here is interesting....the final round and the e4 esque rounds before it eoukd all be scrambled. Maybe a Gym Leader wants a promotion, maybeone of your rivals, or hell even lil timmy like that one kid in sun moon.
Pokemon could care less about logical weight. Larvitar is 2 feet tall and weighs nearly 200 pounds.
