OK, here's where this thread is standing, with the unlocking:
Given the widespread backlash and complaining about certain aspects of the work (i.e. Dexit), we wanted to communicate very clearly what we are not willing to put up with: prolonged, circular complaining (or wonking).
Of course, with a controversial subject that has a large impact on the gameplay, Dexit is in one of those areas where there it may be on-topic to discuss it, but the nature of that discussion can wildly vary. As has been said elsewhere, we ix-nayed discussion of Dexit entirely because it never seemed to happen without devolving into that kind of complaining.
However, we're willing to unlock the thread after this 3-day cooldown period because the Pokemon General thread has been stable enough. And -
Can I discuss Dexit?
Yes. But if there is prolonged wonking on it, the thread just becomes an echo chamber of complaints and we do not like that. No one likes that. The same rules as ever apply. Be a constructive, healthy space. Have conversations about what you like, and what you don't like, but the thread should not get locked into a series of bitter complaints.
If you have questions or concerns about mod implementation or action, we have a thread for that here.
Alright? Thank you all for waiting this out. I hope we're all good now.

Penalty Town sounds like Team Yell renamed it. Something that fits into both the game's theming and the loserness of Team Yell. Also, their boss's battle theme is right after it on the supposed leak.

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Yeah, that could actually work. Makes it quite similar to Po Town, though whether that’s the leaker copying past games or the dev team is up for debate.

Oh God! Natural light!Like they wouldn't just hijack part of the city and rename it Marnieville.
It's been 3000 years…You know, what with Galar being England and everything, it's occurred to me how odd it is that we have no clock Pokémon yet. Humanity's made a whole lot of different and weird clocks over the ages, how come none of them ever became the inspiration for a Pokémon?
Off the top of my head Hoothoot is probably closest.
Klinklang is essentially the inner workings of a clock.
Hoothoot takes some inspiration from a clock, yup.
Goddammit, Schezo... || *insert incredibly thirsty copypasta about Dr. Ratio*None of them are clocks, though, and their connections to the subject are rather loose. Hoothoot is an owl first, with it's only connections to clocks being because owls are nocturnal birds, while the Klink family are just gears.
For all we know, the clock has been with the dolphin and Mega Flygon in the "Artist's Block" bin.
Wake me up at your own risk. They try to come up with a design every Gen, but they always run out of time.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Going off the Pokedex entries, Hoothoot are basically used as clocks. Not what you're looking for, but the potential is there.

I though people hated the "things, but Pokemon" style Pokemon.
We need Pokemon that are based off of Lechku and Nechku.
People do, but they dont know what a pokemon really is to begin with. Slapping artificial rules and whatnot, baaah. All pokemon are valid.
Preach.
Also I saw this once.◊
Goddammit, Schezo... || *insert incredibly thirsty copypasta about Dr. Ratio*Pokémon are Pokémon. Whether they look like normal objects given sentience or not is entirely irrelevant.
Whether they look lame or not, that is a more important difference. Good design can make or break a Pokémon. For example, I absolutely love the Aegislash family because they look cool and well-designed, but the Vanilluxe or the Klink families look way lazier to me.
Still, they're all Pokémon, and they're all valid.

Pokemon are overall designed to be one thing: varied. Whether it's an ice cream cone, a mechanical spider, a flaming chicken and such there's no denying there is a large variety of Pokemon and it makes sense. You want to have a group of mons that anyone can like and relate to. In that case, I believe that rules of what can be a Pokemon can bend and shape into pretty much anything. Pokemon have always been described in and out of game as mysterious creatures so I appreciate the fact that they going all out with that concept.
That being said they don't really have to make a pokemon's definition super concrete compared to other monster-games because a Pokemon can literally be based off of anything. For example, in Yokai Watch, the Yokai...are clearly yokai. And are based off those concepts/myths. They've clearly concreted themselves on that and it's a basis for the series design overall.
Because Pokemon can literally be anything you don't have to worry about those restrictions. You can have Pokemon based off yokai, objects, concepts, etc. And I think that's the best part. I feel if they started just saying "Pokemon can only be based off of real life animals now and nothing else" we'd really miss out on some nice designs.

From my experience usually the ones who say that, ironically enough, are people who think "dog is represented".
For what it's worth, abstract ones like Klinklang, Claydol, Bronzong, Solrock, Lunatone, ect. are some of my favorites. So I'd be quite disappointed if they were forsaken just for animals.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Claydol, Golurk and Bronzong are damn fine mons. Golurk would enjoy getting +10 to its defenses or so so it can play version counterpart to Claydol tho.
Damn, Golurk has probably one of my favorite Pokémon designs, but golems have always fascinated me, so there's that. I went out of the way to make it my Ground/Ghost teammate in X and it did a pretty good job in the story, but I really wish it could serve a better role overall.
Curiously, it's easy to come up with new regional forms for it, so I hope we get to see one in the future.
... And that's called jazz! It's weird how these games are just being dropped with little fanfare.
Hell, we're not even getting a Sword & Shield anime, which is especially weird considering how the games have always relied on the anime to advertise them.
The anime going it's own direction isn't... super surprising, since they'd already been doing that with the movies. I'll agree the more low-key promotional campaign in general is rather eyebrow-raising, though
Maybe the entire Dexit debacle combined with continued bitterness over the anime not having Ash win a league (though this current season is throwing that up in the air again) has made them a little anxious about revealing too much.
One Strip! One Strip!
I feel like Runoff, Centreline and Floodlight could work, but yeah, “Penalty Town” isn’t even trying.
Oh God! Natural light!
