OK, here's where this thread is standing, with the unlocking:
Given the widespread backlash and complaining about certain aspects of the work (i.e. Dexit), we wanted to communicate very clearly what we are not willing to put up with: prolonged, circular complaining (or wonking).
Of course, with a controversial subject that has a large impact on the gameplay, Dexit is in one of those areas where there it may be on-topic to discuss it, but the nature of that discussion can wildly vary. As has been said elsewhere, we ix-nayed discussion of Dexit entirely because it never seemed to happen without devolving into that kind of complaining.
However, we're willing to unlock the thread after this 3-day cooldown period because the Pokemon General thread has been stable enough. And -
Can I discuss Dexit?
Yes. But if there is prolonged wonking on it, the thread just becomes an echo chamber of complaints and we do not like that. No one likes that. The same rules as ever apply. Be a constructive, healthy space. Have conversations about what you like, and what you don't like, but the thread should not get locked into a series of bitter complaints.
If you have questions or concerns about mod implementation or action, we have a thread for that here.
Alright? Thank you all for waiting this out. I hope we're all good now.

x3 I swear I've seen a Defiant Adrenaline Orb Braviary set somewhere.
If I knew how I know everything I know, I'd only be able to know half as much because my brain would be clogged up with where I know it fromDo you think Stealth Rock will also be removed with the flying type Max Move? It seems to have the side effects of defog, unless I'm reading too much into it. (Aurora veil seems to end right after it)

Nah, thats what Corviknight special move does
There are no unique Gigantamax moves. All we've seen is that all the attacking moves of one type do damage plus something extra like setting weather, hazards, terrain, or increasing stats with status moves protecting from Max moves when Gigantamaxed.
What we know (or can infer):
- Max fire, water, rock, and ice set their respective weather.
- Max Electric, Psychic, Fairy, and Grass set their respective Terrain.
- Max Fighting increases user's party's Attack.
- Max Normal decreases enemy's speed.

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."There are no unique Gigantamax moves.
What? No, that's explicitly something Gigantamax does, is that it gives the Gigantamax Pokemon a unique Max move.
That's all gigantamax does. It swaps out one of the max moves with a unique one. There's no evidence of any other effects
I thought the website also said that Gigantamaxing boosts some stats?
Whoops. Forgot about that. Ah well, so at the very least Corviknight doesn't need defog.
x4 Is it bad that I actually didn't realize Gigantamaxing does give unique moves despite seeing it for myself?
I fixed my post above with the Max moves and what they did.

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."It just hit me that they really meant what they said when they mentioned putting more focus on game balance. They literally just said "we're sorry about incineroar " basically this whole video. On top of that I cant remember, is this the first time they put such a competitive focused video pre release?
...is Incineroar way too good...or too bad.
One Strip! One Strip!I think Incineroar was really, really good.

Incineroar was on literally every team in the last couple of Pokemon VGC tournaments. Mostly because of Intimidate and Fake Out, two excellent ways of shifting momentum in your favour, but he also had a good typing and could lay down a serious nuke with his Malicious Moonsault.

Incineroar was the perfect vgc pokemon, which is something since it has better roles than even Lando t. Fake Out, Intimidate, Both Fire and Dark stabs, U turn, Snarl, the list goes on and on.
This is the same company that said it was okay to have Mega Ray, Primal Groudon, and Primal Kyogre legal. They also reveal competitive relevant things at Worlds every year. Hell, they made Mega Rayquaza in the first place.
It's still going to be a collection of hyper centralized Pokemon where maybe 2 or 3 new non-legendaries are any good (And they'll be absurdly so, ie Incineroar), same as every generation.
Edited by Hashil on Aug 18th 2019 at 8:27:59 AM
incineroar was even worse because incin's usage rates were higher than even every other legendary, which says a lot about how centralizing incineroar was
TPC isn't exactly great at balancing or any of that, don't get me wrong, but incineroar's dominance was even a step above the legendaries'

Mega-Ray was actually the least broken of the weather trio in doubles...
It's pretty weird how that works out, when in Smogon singles Incineroar is lackluster at best.

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Starter info?
How long has a generation gone without any information about starter stages when in development?
I want to say that we only knew about the middle evos for Alola starters around the end of advertisement, which was followed up almost immediately with final evos. Pretty sure they never actually revealed the final stages for Kalos starters before the game came out.
Continue the bloodline, Fujimaru! If I recall correctly, they did release the final forms of the Kalos starters just before the games came out, but by then everyone had already seen the leaks.
Or maybe they showed them just after the games came out, I can’t remember.
Oh God! Natural light!I'd bet that the Sun/Moon starter final evos were only shown because at that point, Game Freak or TPC had to admit even to themselves that there was a leak, though this is purely speculation on my part.

I've seen it on Competitive Milotic a few times, to really nail it in as an Intimidate punisher.
