OK, here's where this thread is standing, with the unlocking:

Given the widespread backlash and complaining about certain aspects of the work (i.e. Dexit), we wanted to communicate very clearly what we are not willing to put up with: prolonged, circular complaining (or wonking).

Of course, with a controversial subject that has a large impact on the gameplay, Dexit is in one of those areas where there it may be on-topic to discuss it, but the nature of that discussion can wildly vary. As has been said elsewhere, we ix-nayed discussion of Dexit entirely because it never seemed to happen without devolving into that kind of complaining.

However, we're willing to unlock the thread after this 3-day cooldown period because the Pokemon General thread has been stable enough. And -

Can I discuss Dexit?

Yes. But if there is prolonged wonking on it, the thread just becomes an echo chamber of complaints and we do not like that. No one likes that. The same rules as ever apply. Be a constructive, healthy space. Have conversations about what you like, and what you don't like, but the thread should not get locked into a series of bitter complaints.

If you have questions or concerns about mod implementation or action, we have a thread for that here.

Alright? Thank you all for waiting this out. I hope we're all good now.

Team Yell was already mentioned in a couple earlier leaks that have been right about everything. Marnie and Bede were too.

I'm not sure why I seem to keep seeing that July "leak" when it seems to just be stuff taken from the earlier actual leak in June but with fake stuff thrown in.

That makes sense. I didn't realize Bede was mentioned before.

That said, I am all over the idea of a Pokemon who evolves differently depending on if the Switch is docked or undocked.

Won’t happen. The Switch Lite can’t dock. And it basically exists for Pokémon.

Said leak also has the Gym Leader named Opal, but as a fairy type gym.

Also, Eternatus is a thing in both leaks.

To summarize, here's what's in the so-far-right-about-everything leak that hasn't been confirmed yet.

  • There's an evil legendary called Eternatus.
  • Meowth, Lapras, and Pikachu get Gigantamax forms.
  • Farfetch'd and Meowth get Galar form evolutions.
  • There's a chipmunk line named Skwovet and Greedunt.
  • There's a Gym Leader named Kabu, and a Fairy-type Gym Leader named Opal.
  • You can play with your Pokemon by camping.
  • Scorbunny's evo is called Raboot, and its final evo is humanoid but pure Fire-type. Sobble evolves into Sizzile and has a spy theme, and Grookey evolves into a large gorilla with a wood drum.
  • There's also some blue seagull Pokemon.

Furthermore, there was actually someone in Japan who leaked a lot of similar info on 5ch back in May. In addition to stuff already confirmed, they also said there's a minor legendary named Meteordyna. Which is where that fake leak got the name from.

[down]Ah, right. I got that part mixed up in my head.

Seagull thing also seems to confirm Barracuda Pokemon.

"Eternatus"

While it may imply Void, there not being anything relating to "black" or "key" in the name is a bit of a minus, given how obvious the mascot legendaries' names are.

Something I'd keep in mind is that legit leaks are almost never coherent, comprehensive overviews of the subject in question. The sort of people that have access to large amounts of info and the opportunity to memorize it generally find that their desire to keep their job outweighs their desire to make a splash online

[up][up]the most accurate leak so far seems like something pissed off the leaker enough to overcome any fear of consequences. I wonder if it was dexit or something else that made them upset enough to leak

That was before we knew about the pokedex issues. I think they were a playtester that got let go. But that leak was the sort of thing I was talking about. It was some scattered bits of info about the first half of the game, nothing about what the full pokedex was like or much on the plot

[up]yes it was before we knew about dexit but im wondering if the leaker found out while playtesting and decided to leak it. or maybe he was just fired but he didnt mention being fired in his post

If they were angry about something in the game I think they would have said so. Not saying what they were upset about tracks to it being something personal enough that it would allow for comeuppance, not game issues

I don't know who this leaker is, but considering that the post that mentioned the leaker being angry was in English, and the main bulk of work and decision making happens in Japan, I don't think he/she would even have access to that kind of information anyway.

Galar forms are cool by the way. Fun stuff.

It's weird to me that Meowth is supposedly getting both a Galarian evolution and a Gigantamax form. One or the other I could understand, but both? Like, did they only just recently realize that Meowth is popular because of the anime, and they feel like they need to compensate for so many years of not giving it everything?

Zeromaeus Since: May, 2010

It could be that they just picked Meowth as the Pokemon to show off regional variants. We need more data points to tell.

Hylarn (Don’t ask)
#4397: Aug 9th 2019 at 3:03:16 AM

I think meowth just has a regional form, not an evo. The leak was written kind of ambiguously on that. And, yeah it is a bit odd that it can gigantamax as well. I suspect someone on staff is fond of the little jerk

RainingMetal Since: Jan, 2010

Also notable in that Meowth was absent from almost every regional dex since its debut save for the Alolan one.
