I'm getting the theme that one of the issues Masako might have is using Fan Wank for lore, but honestly in most cases I'm ok with it. Dragonball has a very scarce expanded universe and a lot of the background is something Toriyama isn't bothered writing down.
I mean, you say this, but this isn't analysis, it's fanfiction. He can say whatever he wants and it's not "wrong."

I don't know, he's simply using the facts given by Toriyama in both the series and in post series interviews and giving his own interpretations on that.
It may be fanfic, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have to be based on nonsense.

Is it me, or is Masako rather generous with Dr Gero in his fanfic? He characterizes him as someone who (in his own mind) wants to improve the world with science, but in actual canon Dr Gero wasn't portrayed as much more than a generic Mad Scientist with a Revenge Myopia (the generic villain "I'm mad that someone stopped my evil deeds despite that what I did was bad") who later got the Even Evil Has Loved Ones trope retconned. Even if Toriyama got to do his plan of Gero and 19 being the main villains I doubt he would be any more complex
I mean if Masako wants to make Dr Gero an actually interesting character I'm fine with that. People were doing the same with Raditz long before he did his what if and he was such a basic Hate Sink you could make him not related to Goku at all and the plot wouldn't be affected at all. But Raditz and Gero still feel like his O.C. Stand-in
