On the Write a Harem Anime page, one of the kinds of girls listed in the category of girls that you wouldn't see in real life is an Opposite-Sex Clone, I'm wondering why is that? Isn't that kinda like self-cest? And what kind of harem series would include that anyway? Seems too bizarre for my tastes.

So if it's too bizarre for your personal tastes it cannot absolutely happen?

A small hint: People, especially people online, can have very bizarre tastes.

First, what AnotherDuck said. Just because you're not into it, doesn't mean other people aren't as well.

Second, it's because it's not a type of person you'll ever meet in Real Life, obviously. We haven't been able to clone (viable) humans yet, and even if we could I doubt we could make perfect opposite-sex versions of ourselves (With the exception of maybe male-to-female cloning, as per the trope page). Thus, it is not a Real Life trope, and therefore it's in the category of girls you'd never see in Real Life.

I feel I should point out that while's it's extremely rare, there is a sort of real life version of the Opposite-Sex Clone. In the already rare cases where a fertilised egg winds up with an XXY set of sex chromosones in the twinning process it is unusual but possible for one of the split twins to wind up XX and the other to wind up XY but be an otherwise genetically identical set of monozygotic twins.

Which means you're saying a twin is a clone.

Here we'd call them Half-Identical Twins, though.
