Granblue Fantasy Versus - developed by Arc Systems Works

Seems weird to show off gameplay of a new character, only to have said character get PWNED!

They've been releasing character trailers the past few weeks, but Percival's the first to actually show new stuff like his intro.

In case people haven't been following, the more expansive trailers like the one in the last post have been releasing on XSEED's Twitter before they go on YouTube. Since we're already well acquainted with the five characters from the beta, here's Lowain, Ladiva/Fastiva, and the latest one, Metera.

I dunno how anyone else feels but Lowain and Metera look pretty degenerate.

How the heck does calling the giant lady work? Is that specific to Lowain? Seems kind of busted.

It's a Lowain specific move, yeah. It's his Super Skybound Art which means he can only use it at low health when his super meter and health bar turn blue.

Also granblue_en (a group of Granblue translators) will be playing the demo with complete roster this Friday at Cygames' Granblue Fes.

We got a playlist of footage taken from @granblue_en, mostly featuring the characters that weren't in the beta.

Seems they weren't kidding about Ladiva being a mobile grappler rather than a glacier type one.

DLC color packs will feature palettes explicitly referencing other characters and costumes (Gran has his Alter Ego version◊, Ferry has her Grand outfit◊, Metera has Korwa◊, and Percival has Aglovale◊)

Beelzebub as "Chaos Bringer" (note: He can be unlocked through story mode, DLC is just an option for those who don't want to play it), Narmaya (both are coming in March), Djeeta, Soriz (they're coming in April), and Belial (will come with the second character pass) are DLC. The final character from pass 1 will be revealed during Granblue's anniversary in March.

Notes from the director's letter for 2020

• There's a lot of plans for DLC, including more content for players who complete RPG mode. It won't be monthly though if the scheduling of Character Pass 1 gave people that impression.
• There'll be a lot of stuff for GBF players through the various DLC. (Good luck to XSEED with handling all that then.)
• RPG mode primarily exists so players can become acclimated to controls, figure out the system, and enjoy a mode where players can go all-out with their faves without the pressure of winning or losing. It's also to provide GBF fans with a way to transition from turn-based battles into a fighting game.
• Reiterating that Versus is an alternate story to the events of GBF and players should enjoy interactions that only a fighting game could have. He ends it with teasing for especially looking forward to Djeeta and Belial's interactions with Gran and the cast.

Cute detail, even Yggdrasil gets palette-swapped for Lowain's alternate colors.

Versus will be launching in the US on March 3rd, a month after the JP release.

also the dub actually exists! Seems like all the voice actors from the anime/Shadowverse have carried over, with the only new actor being what appears to be Patrick Seitz as Ladiva and idk about Vaseraga's VA

Oh god dubbed Granblue still sounds weird to me.

Lowain's Japanese voice is a goofy character that actually sounded really fun and natural for once, so if I pick this up I might play it in Japanese just for him. Rest of the cast sounds fine, I guess.

Trophies

• 7 chapters for RPG mode
• There's some kind of gacha mechanic apparently though it's only mentioned in the one for doing 30 draws
• Metera stepping on people is a trophy lmao
• There's a Luminiera Sword Omega obtained trophy oh noooooooooo
• Tower of Babyl appears to be some kind of bonus thing for RPG mode
• Very interested to see which stickers they kept for this game.

Silly question, will we be making a character page for this game, or will we be sticking with the main GBF page?

Eh either is fine, since though there aren't any new characters or explicit changes, it's an explicit parallel continuity that's unclear how anything is meant to intersect with the main game (see Katalina having Ares despite not being set in Nalhegrande, Gran and Djeeta coexisting, and whatever's going on with Beelzebub) beyond the occasional animation homage.

So according to Famitsu leaks, the final DLC pack 1 character is female and Zooey shows up in the story◊, so it might be her.

EDIT: Sandalphon is included in the Rage of Bahamut promo campaign for Versus, so this might be a soft confirmation for him being DLC.

EDIT: lmaooooooo Lowain's Yggdrasil summon victory screen is him and his bros zonked out at the cafe again with Vyrn yelling at them to wake up.

Remember when this game's trope page went to the Unreleased Work Page Cleanup Thread? So I've tried restoring most of the hidden/commented-out content I've seen thus far on the page source, but I'm not sure if that's everything that can be salvaged from the previous versions. Maybe there were a lot of stuff that got outright deleted?
