INTRO

''Throughout all of recorded history we have had legends. Legends of fearless valiant heroes saving society, and terrible villains being plaguing their civilizations and their followers. Some come from historical facts, but most came from the legends throughout time.. Superheroes and mythological figures, with powers and abilities no normal human can ever hope to wield have always been fictional however, at least until now.

Late last year a powerful energy surge came upon the western metropolis of Pacific City! Suddenly, beings with superpowers came up all over! Now, several young heroes must risk their lives to defend the town and save the whole world! Are they up for task?

We will have to find out...''

OOC

Welcome to New Legends of Pacific City. A group teenage superhero roleplay. In it you play one of the young heroes and heroines who try to save a large city from all sorts of villains, natural disasters, and crime going on in it. You'll need to split your time between your secret identity and your superhero one as well. If you are interested in it, read on for more of the story, rules, characters and signup.

RULES

1.) Obey the TV Tropes TOS: If there is anything against it you cannot post it here. Always keep that in mind during the whole playtime.

2.) No Godmodding: You cannot be invincible, have an unlimited array of powers, or automatically decide you hit and kill everyone in a single second. If I veto an action you have to obey and if I say you can't have a power or too many please obey. This includes autohtting, meaning you cannot automatically decide an action against a character or character someone else controls will work and work perfectly.

3.) No metagaming: If you get certain information that your character does not know about another player character, npc, or somehow know events that will come up do not act on it. If your character doesn't have a good reason to know it than you should not go out of character.

4.) Posting/Posting Rate: When you post, please post about a paragraph or a few sentences. Put some effort into not doing one-liners all the time. Describe how your character is reacting too, what they are thinking, the surroundings or how they feel about their current situation. It could be the difference between an interesting post and a quick post just to prove that the character still exists. Also to keep up with the pace of the game, please post at least once every 3 days and try to post more than that, especially in action scenes.

5.) Mood & Content: Please keep the content appropriate for tvtropes, (as noted above) and I want you to keep in mind that despite the fact that sometimes serious things will happen I'd like to keep the mode a bit light sometimes, and not constantly edgy and dark. If your looking for an example of superhero shows for the mood think of something like X-Men Evolution and not Spawn.

STORY

The year is 2025 and the place is 'Pacific City. A modern metropolis located on a man-made island off the west coast of the United States. A city of 2,000,000 people going about their daily lives with the best and most modern equipment one can wish for, and a city in desperate peril.

It is a constructed city, a city designed by a coalition to serve as a haven, a new home for many millions of displaced citizens, and based heavily on innovation. It was created when a meteor shower left a massive amount of crystalline material on coastal California in the year 2000. The mysterious material was soon discovered to be harmless to humans but a single fist-sized chunk of it was enough to provide power to a whole city! The coalition decided to design a haven for scientists to innovate and provide free power for their creations so that many innovations could be provided fast! At first it was a miracle city, constructed fast enough that an artificial island and numerous facilities were made by 2003. But by three years later, all the initial power was lost and a large chunk of the mysterious element would soon be needed to be recovered and used for power again, and the decision was made to expand it into a somewhat regular city, moving a massive amount of people into it and letting civilians into it. But mostly it seemed well, until about a decade ago.

In 2015, a massive amount of terrible events happened all at once! Reports of a military group calling themselves Scorpion came about from all over the world! But during their battles against numerous warriors giant monsters arose from the ground, sky, and water with no known origin and no apparent alliance! Reports of mythical beasts such as dragons, and people reporting "curses" have come out of the woodwork. Individual criminals and organized crime have found new resolve in these trying times, especially in Pacific City!

However, Pacific City and the whole world may have found their one hope to keep them safe. Last year a massive EMP blast emerged from the west coast, and gave powers to many people in that massive city! At the same time, the numerous scientists in the city started to gain ideas in the head and find answers to numerous problems faster than they had ever thought possible, magic has come to people who would most use it to save the city and the world, and creatures from other worlds have found a home on the city and have vowed to protect it! For some reason this sudden power has most strongly affected teenagers, especially ones born in this town! So a few have taken it upon themselves to use their new powers to help everyone, and save their city! Throughout the last year they have fought and attempted to strike at the crime at every turn, but these heroes remain in the shadows as an urban legend. Soon however, they will find out about each other and form a group. A team of superheroes that may finally be able to stand a chance against the crime waves and super villains.

Pacific City has become a battlefield for the fate of the world! Will these New Legends be able to unite and survive the trials ahead? 'You shall be the ones to decide that!

Important NPC Characters

NOTE: I sometimes reuse names of NPC from previous games. They may not have the same fate or be the same exact people as any other roleplay I have hosted on the TV Tropes forum.

Pacific City Public Figures——-

Seral Yeager

The head of Yeager Incorporated, the world's largest engineering firm and a major financier of the original plan for Pacific City. A tall, blonde, late 40's woman fond of black suits and who frequently works as a spokesperson for her companies new ideas. A powerful and respected business mogul, who none-the-less lost some international respect when it was discovered the "limitless power source" that her company employees had recovered had a limit of six years outside the meteorite. Has a twelve year old son named Jason.

Dr. William Vanguard

A middle aged, white-haired man with slightly long hair for his age. Head of Vanguard Enterprises, a biotech company specializing in medicine and genetic research. Also one of the foremost members of the coalition that founded Pacific City. A former physician who retired fairly young to take over his dead parents biotech company. After the takeover he has made far more progress than the previous owners and cured genetic diseases that nobody thought possible! A very kind man who none-the-less tends to get very focused on his work and tends to be very private.

Captain Ellen Michaels

The captain of the Pacific City police force. A raven, short-haired woman with a muscular and tall frame. Who does her best to command her squadron to arrest the oncoming wave of criminals and supernatural phenomenon that makes their way throughout the city. A hard noses detective and combatant alike, and former military. Married to Pacific City High's teacher Allison Michaels.

Nathan Kaine

A former Florida resident who recently moved to Pacific City. A club and casino owner who moved his franchise to the city two years ago. A black haired man with a tendency for grey suited suits with many pockets, and a tendency to hang around card sharks and be at High-Society gatherings. Carries a red cane around with him and is never seen without his own bodyguards. Is often accused of rigging his games even more than other owners by the press. Has a 15 year old daughter named Samantha who goes to the local public High school.

Sarah Hall

A 26 year old broadcast news reporter. A curly red-haired young woman who wears green open jackets and red t-shirts under them. A dedicated truth-seeker and a firm believer in the right of the public to know the truth, no matter the personal cost to her. She is notable for having predicated the crime wave 10 years ago on a student newspaper, but nobody knows why, and she claims to not know either.

Raymond Verro

A elderly man of Italian descent. A former California based filmmaker with few b-movies successes to his name.

Elizabeth Wallace

The owner of the local antique shop. Once a small-town business owner, now a popular tourist attraction to this city.

Pacific City High

Principle Adrian Eric

An elderly, grey haired balding man with a tendency to hunch. An man about 69 years of age who has a fairly open mind to working as a principle of the school. Walks with a grey cane. Is thought to be retiring soon.

Professor Benton East

A young 30-something history professor. A former archeologist who came to teach around 10 years ago soon after receiving his graduate degree. The school, lacking a proper history teacher at the time decided to accept him. A man with more of a passion for history then his students, though he has a kind side. Has an animated demeanor and frequently gets lost in tangents in the middle of his history lectures.

Mrs. Allison Michaels

A biology teacher at Pacific City High. A former employee of Vanguard Enterprises. Is a very interested and involved teacher. Is married to Captain Ellen Micheals.

Samantha Kaine

A blonde, long haired teenage girl who most frequently wears white dresses. Is frequently judgmental but appears to try to be welcoming to new students. Has little perspective from being born into a rich family and sheltered from any effects of the city's crime wave. Is the daughter of Nathan Kaine.

Villains

Known super criminals at the time.

Infiltrator

An infamous hacker who has frequently broken into police files, bank files, and computer systems around the whole city.

Lernaean Hydra

A nine-headed, humanoid snake monster that spits acid, has claws and fangs and seems to be aquatic in nature. Appears to not be able to be killed. Caught by the docks recently.

Abbadon

An infamous crime boss of a criminal empire known only as "The Underworld". Seems to control most of the organized crime in the entirety of Pacific City.

Nice, detailed signup template! Still, adaption is hard. Hope this suffices.

  • Name: Lucy Melanie Livingston.
  • Codename: Inkwell.
  • Age: 17.
  • Gender & Pronouns: Female, She/Her.
  • Civilian Appearance: 5'2 in terms of height. Looks a little stagnated in terms of growth. Usually wears the baggiest hoodies she can find in order to hide herself in them.
  • Hero Appearance: Wears a two-piece bodysuit of a dark purple colour, broken up by a black utility belt, gloves, and boots. Has no mask, but instead wears a heavy cloak and ties her hair back beneath it—the hood being baggy enough to cover over half her face when needed. Chestpiece has an inky black peace symbol emblazoned upon it, and the cloak in its entirety is large enough for her to complete hide her form within. The suit has black colouration for a reason—Lucy is prone to storing ink within the fabric of her clothing (hence her tendency to wear baggy clothing with a lot of mass and storage potential) and relies heavily on whatever limited supplies she can get.
  • Personality: A naturally softspoken and gentle individual, Lucy's apparently meek and occasionally stammering outward appearance does not give justice to her sheer willpower and tenacity when it comes to fulfilling her own idealism and moral standards. Patient almost to a fault, Lucy still isn't afraid to vocalize when she feels as if someone's crossed the line, but when she's not actively in ‘mother-mode’ she's mostly attempting to keep her thoughts in check and her tendency to furiously blush at the slightest compliment under control. Lucy is selfless to the point that she doesn't even acknowledge her own personal mental health, and as such is pushing herself so hard and so often out of her naturally introverted nature that it tends to make her fatigued and emotionally drained all too often. While doubtful and truthfully feeling inadequate on her best days, Lucy is stubborn enough not to let anyone around her fall into sadness for very long, and she is always ready with a warm hug on hand for whomever needs it.
  • Power Source: As far as one can tell, the EMP blast. Lucy first discovered her powers the day after the event—when a portrait she was working on began to twist and warp in appearance while she was idle-minded. Since then, she has been undergoing self-mental-training of a sort, primarily so she doesn't let herself get distracted and splatter herself on accident if somebody decides to talk to her in the middle of a power demonstration.
  • Powers:
    • Melanokinesis: The ability to psychokinetically manipulate ink. As long as she's had initial contact with it beforehand, Lucy can manoeuvre ink according to her will, telekinetically lifting it, or forming it into tools, tendrils, weapons, shields, and other such constructs. She can manipulate the solidity of the ink, and she theorizes that with enough training she may be able to learn how to alter the pigmentation to her will. As of now, however, her most specialized ability using this power is her “ink dolls”—so called because she has barely enough control to keep their limbs in check and thus has them usually flail about like marionettes and inevitably collapse into a puddle.
    • Melanokinetic Transformation: With concentration, (or by being startled) Lucy may convert her entire form into liquid ink, to which she can then move around by sprouting several tendrils and pulling herself along at a rapid rate. It should be noted that in this form she is practically deaf, blind, and mute—reliant entirely on the limited tactile senses gained by her consciousness being directly tied to this ink form. While difficult to kill, she can still ‘feel’ attacks when they make contact, and may end up shifting back due to the sheer mental strain. That and it takes some concentration and mental fortitude to keep herself in this state for a prolonged time, and she may have to change back anyway from time to time simply to gather herself.
  • Equipment: Merely her utility belt. The thing is made of segmented, hinged steel, and is lined with magnets and clasps to allow for metallic cartridges to be clipped on securely. These cartridges are filled to the brim with emergency ink supplies—in the event the ink in the fabric of her clothing runs out.
  • Skills:
    • Athleticism: Lucy has taken several dance classes before, and it shows in her overall litheness and agility. This is incredibly useful in terms of assistance for her powers, (her ability to dodge and weave in tandem is accelerated considerably by the odd tendril or two) but her lack of formal combat training means she still uses this primarily to ‘get out of the way’ rather than ‘get down there and brawl.’
    • Strategist: Despite her meek tendencies, Lucy is constantly taking in notable snippets of information and collecting them into an inward map of not-necessarily-connected but not-entirely-nonsensical understanding. Her cautious and empathetic demeanour means that she is usually walking on eggshells around people anyway, and so in the event of a crises she ends up using this primarily for the benefit of any civilians in the vicinity—and indeed all her plans are based around other people instead of pure pragmatism. Though this is assuming she has the courage to speak up enough anyhow.
    • Painting: Lucy has quite an artistic mind, and her perfectionism and innate sense of order usually keeps her working up until ridiculous hours just to get every single detail perfect. She has a great appreciation for aesthetic as a result, and can often zone out if she sees something distinct or interesting (though thankfully not in the heat of battle does she get enraptured by the explosions).
  • Long Term Goals: Lucy is in a bit of a confused spot as of now, and is only really doing heroic work out of obligation and sympathy more than the nobility of it all. As such, she's much more inclined for a simple life as a painter or other creative worker, and is yearning for a time when she can settle down and have a family. However, her stubbornness won't let her back down while she can use her powers for the benefit of others, even if sometimes she's questioning if she's truly the right sort of person to commit to such a lifestyle of self-sacrifice.
  • Backstory: Born to Jane and Lucius Livingston as their middle child before the latter left them behind, Lucy was raised alongside her older sister Hannah and younger brother David, being given the best upbringing and education possible by Jane despite her now technical nature as a single mother (Lucius never filed a divorce officially). Being home-taught and generally isolated from socialization had left the already shy Lucy extremely anxious and reluctant to meet with other people excluding her family, which culminated especially when she and her brother became old enough to properly attend high school.note  After the EMP blast, however, Lucy soon discovered further complications with the awakening of incredibly specific powers and thus became even more withdrawn and reluctant for socialization out of shame and confusion as to her own self. But now, after a recent reprimanding from her mother as her self-confidence hit a dangerously low point, Lucy is starting to finally realise the practical applications for her abilities—and used a combination of spare fabrics in the school theatre, her own underused clothing, and a few auctions of some of her paintings for the more specialized parts to create a fairly respectable outfit for herself in order to pursue heroic work. Though somewhat small-scale as of now and rarely sticking around to soak up the praise, Lucy's actions under the name Inkwell have indeed started to be noticed—even if one can never keep the girl still for questioning.
  • Transformation Sequence: N/A
  • Anything Else: Leitmotif.

Accepted. I think the personality section could be covered by the Backstory and through skills your character knows. But I understand if you disagree, if the other players want it as well I'll add it.

Alright, you may reserve a spot. Any idea on when you might be able to do so? Cause I know I won't be able to start till Thursday at earliest. Also I might allow 5 characters at this point depending on when we receive them.

It would be, but you'd need to have some sort of special equipment and a notable look.

  • Name: Mackenna Carter
  • Codename: Mack Truck
  • Age: 18
  • Gender & Pronouns: She / Hers Man, just say "pronouns."
  • Civilian Appearance: She gets hurt a lot and it's hard to find her without a cast. I'd credit the artist I commissioned but they literally have zero social media presence for me to work with. Mackenna is short and stocky at 5'2 and her body's physics are a lot different from a normal person's. In Earth gravity she kind of looks like she's lightly floating, like a subtler version of how people behave on the moon or underwater.
  • Hero Appearance: Mackenna keeps to her sort of appalachian flannel country motif in her "costume" but accessorizes with a trucker cap that says MACK TRUCK on it and a pair of big silver aviators as a token "disguise" given she doesn't have a permanent record in this city.
  • Power Source: Mackenna was brought into the city from a parallel Earth decently similar to this one, except that nobody there is "super," Pacific City never suffered an energy crisis, and gravity is also several times heavier there.
  • Powers: Mack Truck is super strong by merit of being a human from a higher-gravity world. She can lift up to 2,000 pounds over her head, jump dozens of feet in the air, and throws a killer punch. She's also decently tough; her bones are super dense and she has a powerful heart.
  • Equipment: Mackenna's only real equipment is a personal blue fixie bike and a sledgehammer from home, hyperdense and extremely dangerous.
  • Skills:
    • Mack Truck is really good at riding a fixie bike, doing tricks and stuff. This is cooler on a planet where a nasty spill can seriously mess up even someone like her, and the lighter gravity is definitely something she has to get used to.
    • Mackenna is a talented traceur, good at improvising paths up buildings to scale and taking a fall well if that doesn't work.
    • By trade Mackenna has been training to be a carpenter and she hasn't been slacking there. She knows how to tell apart good quality materials and tools from the bad stuff, she knows how to build, and she's very good at tearing shit down.
  • Long Term Goals: Mackenna still hasn't decided whether or not she actually wants to go home but figuring out how to do that is important so she has the option. Finding a better home would also be nice. Right now she sees the exciting and low-grav Pacific City as hers alone, like a private Narnia or something, and kinda understands she needs to better process her relationship with the city. She's also trying to make sure her status as, technically, an illegal alien stays secret until she's got herself figured out.
  • Backstory: Mackenna is a punk who grew up in a rebellion against a world of slow and conservatively minded people. She was part of a competitive biking scene out in rural Socal, always considered highly dangerous because of the risk of bodily harm. She had decent luck learning to be a carpenter with her family, and as the new city out on the water went up she and her family picked up roots to move out there. Not surprisingly, the kids of all of Pacific City's construction workers formed a fast bond together, a strong subculture focused around exploring the city-in-progress and trying to climb or bike or skate up to the highest parts of it. Mackenna gained a reputation for combining her experience with carpentry and demolition to sort of Koolaid Man her way around the city, which ended up biting her hard in the ass when she smashed a wall down, stepped through, and rocketed into the stratosphere as gravity hit a quarter of its strength on the other side. She turned around in midair, looked through the hole, and just saw a whole wall where she broke through; Mackenna was stuck.
    • Since then, with zero documentation and a fear of discovery, Mackenna's made a life for herself from a tent in an abandoned construction site, surviving by swiping criminals' wallets while she tries to figure out a way back home. She couldn't make legit money without an SSN, so that was out the window. She did, however, see plenty of asskickers making lives for themselves in Pacific City. Knowing a trend when she saw one, Mack Truck put on a minimal superhero identity to go along with this reality too: The Unstoppable Mack Truck! With the help of the Pacific City Transient Youth Aid Program she's also started going to school and getting on her feet for real in the city, though she's stayed off the grid otherwise.

Hey Taco. I like the character and the idea of the parallel universe character is interesting! But I feel like her lack of fake identity and legal non-existence will make the civilian identity parts much harder or might involve you a lot less unless we can find a way around that.

Well, if we want a workaround I'm thinking she would have a fully legit ID from her own Pacific City that's just not in any databases, but otherwise looks like a real one. If this is a concern about her being able to go to school or live a normal life, it could be that she's officially a transient and she can go to school out of some aid program or something. That same transience also protects her though since she doesn't have a real address or a family, and her school's made no more vulnerable than any other superhero who's visibly a child. Lemme know if that's a concern.

Alright, I'm going to import a character from another RP that I'm in. Please tell me if I need to make any tweaks or changes to Koda's sheet. I tried to include as many plot hooks as I could, and I hope that's she's interesting.

  • Name: Koda Carter-Ridgecrest
  • Codename: Code Breaker
  • Age: 15
  • Gender & Pronouns: Female (She/Her)
  • Civilian Appearance: This is her when she's untransformed. She's 4'5" and 75 lbs. as a result of genetic growth issues. That doesn't stop her from being scrappy in the least, however.
  • Hero Appearance: This is her when she's transformed.
  • Power Source: Koda relies on her BunnyHaxxor Cartridge to transform and gain her Equipment. If she can be prevented from inserting the Cartridge into her Reality Port, then she will not be able to transform.
  • Powers:
    • Reality Port Opening: This power allows Koda to open a Reality Port (think USB port floating in the air) to insert her Cartridge. That Cartridge transforms her into her Avatar, which has special Equipment.
  • Equipment:
    • BunnyHaxxor Cartridge (Uncorrupted): This is a plain gray cartridge, about the size of a pocket dictionary, with a cartoonish silhouette of a rabbit's head with X'ed out eyes as its logo. When inserted into a Reality Port, it turns Koda into her Avatar.
    • VR-Tech Armor (Limited Edition Bunny Set): This is clothing made of a Virtual Substance. It doesn't provide much defense, despite its name, but it's the last component in the Bunny Set, which enhances the wearer's speed a little. There is a retractable visor inside the hood.
    • VR-Tech Nanoskates (Limited Edition Bunny Set): These are skates made of a Virtual Substance. Their construction is far superior to normal skates, and possess the ability to make the wearer two to three times faster than normal skaters. The wheels are retractable, and modified to be more stable on rough surfaces.
    • VR-Tech Variable-Form Weapon (Limited Edition Bunny Set): This (supposedly) transforming weapon is made up of a Virtual Substance. It looks like a pair of giant scissors, the two sides of which can detach into two blades. Since the Virtual Substance it's made of is very light, Koda can swing and carry it around with no trouble. It can stick to Koda's back through strong magnets. To Koda's frustration, she can't find a way to make it transform. Maybe her parents didn't have the time to program the transforming in...
  • Skills:
    • Xtreme Sk8ting: Koda can skate pretty well. This pairs with the Equipment her Cartridge gives her perfectly. She likes the extra speed her Nanoskates give her, though she used to crash frequently when she was first learning how to use them properly.
  • Long Term Goals: Koda wants to find out why the Game is so important to the people who drove her parents out of Pacific City, help as many people as she can along the way, and have fun.
  • Backstory:
    • Koda would have been the heiress of her genius parents' budding Virtual Reality game-making company, but several events coincided to make sure that this would not be the case. First of all, another gaming company, OtherWorld Corp. wanted to obtain the technology behind her parents' secret project, only referred to in whispers as "The Game." After her parents refused a highly unfair business deal, they were targeted by assassins. Her parents promptly left Koda with her grandparents and left town. They still keep in touch.
    • They left behind a strange Cartridge for Koda, alongside a hard drive. The information inside the hard drive shattered Koda's world competely—her parents had invented a Virtual Substance capable of changing reality partly into a video game. The hard drive also told her to be at a specific location at the time of the EMP blast, which fused her with the Game her parents were developing. This allowed her to open Reality Ports to transform. (Interestingly enough, the Bunny Set is perfectly tailored to fit her and her interests, and it's apparently a unique Set as well! Perhaps her parents were making the Game for her?)
    • Meanwhile, OtherWorld Corp. appears to have backed off from pursuing Koda's parents after they skipped town. There was a news report about them rummaging through her parent's trashed workshop, but they were apparently unable to find anything useful. Koda, meanwhile, resolved to become a hero with her new abilities after hearing reports of other young supers on the news.
  • Transformation Sequence: Koda opens a Reality Port in front of her and slides the BunnyHaxxor Cartridge in. Pixels swirl around her and turn her into her Avatar. Her Weapon materializes out of pixels and slides onto her back.
  • Miscellaneous: There are a lot of features that Koda hasn't discovered yet in her transformed state. This could lead to potential power growth if she were to discover the other features.

Mmm what constitutes a power? Can I have a wizard type dude who has "Spellcasting" as a power but has more than two spells? I'm more interested in versatility than raw strength.

EDIT: Done.

  • Name: Nicholas Cubus
  • Codename: Red Devil
  • Age: 18
  • Pronouns: He's a him.
  • Civilian Appearance: Nick is a tall young man with a slender build. He has a mop of dark blue hair, with a single red streak. He claims he dyes it, but it's actually a tip-off of his demonic nature. His eyes are probably more striking, though. First of all, he's missing one. He has a false eye, but he wears the eyepatch because it looks cool. His remaining eye has a red iris, with a yellow sclera. He claims it's a melanin condition, but really, it's because he's part demon. https://imgur.com/a/RubY95q
  • Hero Appearance: Nick's hair turns red and gets spikey, and his jacket turns red with a tiger-stripe motif. His most noticeable feature is his eyes, so he trades his eyepatch for a pair of crimson sunglasses. They're mirrored from the outside, but from the inside they're completely translucent. His hair covers it, but they're attached by an elastic band. He covers his face with a 10-foot long red scarf. The end trails off, but this is a ruse: Like a lizard's tail, it is designed to be fragile and tear away easily.
  • Power Source: Demonic Blood
  • Powers:
    • Spellcasting: Due to his demonic heritage, Nick can cast various spells. Casting a spell will fatigue him in the same way that throwing a punch or lifting a heavy object would fatigue a regular person. Spells he can cast:
      • Illusion: Magically bends light to create an illusory construct. The illusions are almost indistinguishable from the real thing to the naked eye. However, they are made of light, so touching them will reveal that they are not real. Nick can add sound effects, though he needs to be able to use his fingers for that. He can create illusions at a range of 50 feet of himself, and can maintain them for as long as he can keep eye contact on the illusion. Finally, he can only create an illusion that occupies a space no larger than 5 cubic feet. (For reference, a human occupies about 2.5 cubic feet.)
      • Levitate: By pointing his fingers, Nick can envelop objects in a blackish aura. This aura allows him to levitate objects weighing up to 200 pounds. Lifting an object through levitation tires him out about as much as it would for him to lift it by just using his arms. Each finger can lift up to 20 pounds, and he can control up to 10 objects at once. This gives him a great degree of manual dexterity with levitated objects, allowing him to do things like pick locks or tie knots. He can maneuver levitated objects within a range of 10 feet of himself. He can also "shoot" objects with enough force to lodge nails in trees. The power has the quirk of not working on liquids or objects with high liquid content (This includes most living organisms.) It also doesn't work on objects moving faster than 5 miles per hour.
  • Equipment:
    • Wand of Lightning: This wand shoots small bolts of electricity, similar to a taser. If the subject is wet, it will probably knock them out.
    • Magic Jacket: The pockets of this jacket can hold the equivalent of a storage unit. The only restriction is he must be able to actually insert the object into the pocket's opening. So for instance he could store a broomstick, 50 fee To retrieve an object from his jacket, he only needs to reach in and will it into his hand. It also gives him access to his transformation sequence.
  • Skills:
    • Sneaky: Nick has been a mischievous person his entire life. As a crimefighter, he prefers to do things mostly via stealth. Nick is skilled at moving quietly, hiding, and generally being a shifty character.
    • Athletic: Nick is not superhuman, but he keeps up a routine. He's in good shape, can run fast, and has excellent stamina.
    • Larceny: Nick had a pretty extended 'little shit' phase, lasting from about middle school until he was 16 or so. He's skilled at things like pickpocketing people with his levitation spells, stealing things, picking locks using magic...His skillset is useful but probably not totally legal either.
  • Long Term Goals:
    • Make some kind of cool enchanted false eye that shoots lasers.
    • Take down the Underworld crime syndicate.
    • Be a badass war wizard like in his favorite anime, War Wizard.
  • Backstory:
    • Nicholas has demon blood coursing through his veins. Nick's father, Klaus Cubus, was a bad bad man with connections to even worse creatures from the lower planes. Klaus was a member of the magical community's criminal underworld, but eventually, it caught up with him. When Nick was 4, his father was arrested by the magical law enforcement officers. His mother, Kiki, was able to successfully lie, claiming she had no involvement, and gained custody of Nick.
    • It is important to note that at the time of their separation, Klaus and Kiki's relationship was very strained. So Nick has grown up loathing his father. His mother was herself a witch, and he began his magical education at the age of 8. He thinks his mom doesn't know about his crimefighting escapades, but she totally does.
  • Transformation Sequence: Nicholas strikes a pose, and if he's in the mood, he yells "DEVIL TRIGGER." A puff of red smoke appears, and he's in costume. He has an extended version with a lot of implied nudity and theme music but only breaks it out if it's practical or he really, really wants to.
  • Inventory:
    • 3 bottles of water.
    • A bottle of sprite
    • A squirt gun.
    • A mushed up sandwich
    • 30 feet of rope.
    • A pair of scissors.
    • A flashlight.
    • A wooden broomhandle
    • A crowbar
    • A lighter
    • A telescoping baton
    • A can of mace
    • A rug, rolled up
    • 7 bananas.
    • Some ants
    • A bag of marshmallows
    • A slingshot
    • A whoopiee cushion.
    • An electric joy buzzer.
    • A copy of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
    • Lots of old school assignments.
    • Several packets of gum.
    • A bunch of plastic toy spiders.
    • A small portable fire extinguisher.
    • One Hostess fruit pie
    • Nick's cell phone, charger, and earbuds
    • Nick's wallet
    • Nick's keys.
    • A compact mirror.
    • A small set of hair combs and brushes.
    • A 27 rubber bouncy balls of assorted sizes and colors.
    • An arbitrarily large number of condiment packets he has stolen from restaurants.
    • 3 sets of plastic dinnerware.
    • Somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 plastic grocery bags.

  • Name: Ashley Hayes
  • Codename: Trailblazer
  • Age: 17
  • Gender & Pronouns: She/Her
  • Civilian Appearance: Look at that conspicuous consumption. She stands at a towering 5’11” thanks to the power of weird supermodel genes or something.
  • Hero Appearance: A simple red spandex bodysuit with blue illustrations of wind decorating the body. She also wears a red mask and sensible sneakers for good measure.
  • Power Source: A mystical sword made out of Hihi'irokane (also known as "Scarlet Steel") that has been passed down from generation to generation. Ashley received it on her 16th birthday.
  • Powers: Ashley has super speed, to the point that she can dodge incoming gunfire if she isn’t caught off guard. Though her potential top speed is unknown, right now she can only comfortably run at about 100 to 150 mph or so. Beyond that she tends to have trouble controlling her momentum, and is liable to crash into something.

Aside from just being able to move very quickly, there’s some other applications to this ability. First, she can walk/run up walls as easily as one would the ground. Also, she can vibrate her limbs/objects (usually her sword) to generate wind. These rapid vibrations also make her attacks pack a bit more of a punch.

  • Equipment: Ashley wields the Hihi'irokane - a huge red sword that she always carries around when she’s doing hero business. It’s a family heirloom that gave everyone in her family strange powers, and in addition it doesn’t appear to break or become dull.
  • Skills: Ashley spent her life around rich people who care a lot about etiquette and decorum. As a result, she can navigate social situations with a lot of charisma.
    • She’s highly intelligent in a variety of academic subjects.
    • She has fenced since she was a young girl.
  • Long Term Goals: Ashley essentially wants to make the world a better place, but she’s not really mature enough to understand how she wants to do that. Fighting crime is a start, but she has higher aspirations than that – she wants the power to change things on a deeper level, and would probably run for President if she was old enough to be eligible.
  • Backstory: Ashley was born the daughter of a big shot Hollywood actor and a world famous supermodel. Needless to say, she was born into a pretty elite social circle. What isn’t needless to say is that her family is deeply into the occult behind the scenes. In between going to expensive private schools and fancy parties, she studied swordplay and black magic in the hopes of becoming some sort of powerful mystic knight. None of this ever really seemed to go anywhere until her parents gave her a magic blade that unlocked her powers. Since then, she has taken to the hero lifestyle quite readily.
  • Transformation Sequence: A minor one. Her hair glows and becomes red when she’s on the superhero beat, but other than that her appearance doesn’t change.

Name: Ignacio Luciano Diaz

Codename: Llamarada

Age: 17

Gender & Pronouns: Male/He

Civilian Appearance: Nearing 6 feet, fit and slim, with long, dark brown hair, tanned skin, brown eyes and a star shaped burn scar on his back. Normally wears jackets and jeans. His eyes start turning red when he uses his powers.

Hero Appearance: The good old Black long coat with a fire symbol on his back, black pants, boots, a red domino mask, scarf and gloves and a black fedora. He also keeps a few flares and smoke bombs on him.

Power Source: The scar on his back was from an old amulet he broke years ago. Any magical power it had passed on to Ignacio and awakened with the EMP.

Powers: Pyrokinesis. With the power to control and make fire, making it hotter, bigger or smaller, and to be capable of using it for different uses, from cooking to melt a gun in an instant. His control is getting more precise by the day, and can extinguish them just as easily. He generally makes flames with a fingersnap, but if he can get a spark, things will burn. The possibility of him being able to fly interests him.

Immunity to heat and cold: While his body is hotter than that of a normal person, he is unbothered, and neither gets burned by his flames nor affected by extreme cold.

Equipment: Smoke bombs made at home, a few flares, bottles with flammable liquids, a lighter if he needs a spark in a pinch.

Skills: Parkour, is skilled in hand to hand combat (mostly striking) and has made good use of a bat, and is smarter and sharper than he acts, with a good mind for myths and chemistry. Also a good drummer, tango dancer and singer, but that's another thing.

Long Term Goals: While he planned to become a police officer, once his powers came, he was more interested on getting a handle of them, and to not hurt anyone by accident. So, for now, he tries to really make his name known, keep things in peace and figure out how long he can keep going as a hero, as well as making something out of his life.

Backstory: Ignacio is the youngest child of his family, the son of a formerly troubled by debts, with his dad having become a successful lawyer against all odds, and his mom is a school teacher. While they were rather strict on him growing up, he loves them dearly, even if he started getting into trouble with his friends. Although he avoided committing a real crime, he had nearly gotten killed by a few criminals because he ended up walking in a weapons deal. One day, he was using some old papers to make a barbecue, but he didn't notice the metallic medallion, he tossed it off the fire, after which things got a bit chaotic and he ended up falling on the still red hot thing, breaking it and branding himself. Athletic and brave, he just didn't know fear, and the decision to be a hero came naturally after he got marked by accident when his flames came.

Transformation Sequence: N/A Anything Else: So far no, but you can ask.

Cool to see so much interest in the game! cool Now that I'm back home let me take these one by one in posting order.

@Jumping Fruit: Bunny Haxxor seems like an interesting character, and I don't mind the Magical Girl genre tropes in use in the origin. However I do have some things that I'd prefer you change or explain to me in more detail please.

Would you mind changing the name please? I get that she is a playful character and you'd likely play her as a thrillseeker or just a fun loving heroine, and I don't mind jokes but I feel like while most of the game would be fine, however, if there was a horror or sad moment the name would result in Narm. Like if I had a guy nearly blown up and wrote "Leetdude is nearly dead and needs rescuing now."

Second your character is very powerful. They may need to be to face the later-game threats. But for right now I'd like you to remove either the gun or the scissors from the Variable-Form weapon so that it doesn't end villains plans too easily.

Third, someone else wants Superspeed, and I'd like to avoid overlapping powers too much. She can keep the skates, but I'd like them to not be virtual rocket skates. They can be fast and even have something like the ability to not cause you to fall on any gridable surface or something. But please change that.

Finally, I'm okay with you adding plot hooks, and the Errors could be fun. But I don't want to do solo adventures and if your planning something big or making a Nemesis with Otherworld please let me know, via PM if you want it to surprise the other players. Just cause I might want to implement them and rotate who the storyline focus is on, and don't want my plans to interfere with your ideas or conflict whenever we decide to implement them.

So address those things and then I can probably accept you.

@Heroic Sociopath: What constitutes a "power" in this case is a two-power set with the Required Secondary Powers if you want your character to have those. I understand you would like some versatility but those powers and that equipment you have made for Red Devil are maybe a little too versatile. I'd like Red Devil to only have two powers and Illusion is a very good and varied power.

I'd like you pick two of Red Devil's spell categories you have listed. Also I have read ahead and someone also wants a flame-related power, so it can't be that one. The Illusion and levitate power set are the best for combat, but if you'd prefer to focus on the intrigue angle then Tongues and the Ballon would probably be the best way to go.

There are good ideas in here. Just post again when you have edited your character sheet to be complete and responded to my points and I'll take another look.

@Hilarity Ensues: Cool, cool I like Trailblazer and most of her character. The only problem is I see that there is power overlap and your healing factor. I get the idea but I think the Healing Factor even if it is nowhere near Wolverine levels is too much.

Also the fire powers overlap with the guy right below. Who wants it to be his main abilities. Trailblazer would also be an appropriate name for a trendsetter who just has super-speed and can generate wind from the sword.

Cool idea with the sword too, but wouldn't a sword made of Orichalcum be gold? Or has it been painted?

@Blueace: I'm almost ready to accept this one. I like this character a lot so far!smile but, I'd like a little more detail please. How did he get that scar, and how was he killed by the criminals years ago? If you want to keep it a secret because of plot related things please PM those reasons to me.

Your characters are good, I'll be posting the Roleplay discussion thread soon, and after they are edited I can accept those four. Thanks for the interest, hope you'll enjoy the game soon! :)

[up]Edited the powers and her costume a little bit. Also I just realized I was confusing Orichalcum with Hihi'irokane, so I made an edit for that as well.
