Clearly Hollywood hasn't learned it's lesson from all the previous failed anime adaptions.
I can't see this working. The character designs would be essentially impossible to adapt to live action, and they're too important to the feel of the work to replace with normal humans
Honestly, this is pretty much the only one I could see working if it wasn’t for the fact that young actors are all pretty bad.
Please.Just...why?
This would have worked before Marvel released superhero movies quarterly, maybe, but now? What is the point?
Also we’re getting John Cena as All Might if they cast this aren’t we?
Probably a result of seeing the My Hero Academia: Two Heroes film do so well during its limited run in american theaters.
This is gonna be awkward.
That, and maybe delayed again and again like Tiger and Bunny.
Watch SymphogearI was hoping if Hollywood were to make a live-action adaptation they would adapt Vigilantes. Like a Kick-Ass or Defenders type of movie or show.
I cannot see any conceivable way for a live-action MHA film to not look ridiculous. Whether it takes the US route of butchering the source material or the Japanese route of filming a 90 minute cosplay session.
Hopefully it can find the right balance with both Americans and Japanese people working on the project. Or at least avoid the usual whitewashing issue.
Yeah, especially considering that Knuckleduster is basically Batman…
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.Undoubtedly because of Two Heroes.
I mean, I'm sure that some filmmakers familiar with superhero films could make this work, but all of the background information that's required is still going to make this really dodgy to do. Not to mention most of their important school lessons will likely be relegated to a montage, especially stuff like the Sports Festival and the first appearance of the League of Villains.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.The only way I see this working is if they have a totally original story with a completely new set of characters that's set in the same universe in America.
This song needs more love.Let us all hope that it will stay in Development Hell.
I mean the movies only been announced, doesn't meant they've actually started working on it.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."The only live action anime adaptation film that I found actually good were Cromartie High and Hentai Kamen.

That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.I agree with the sentiment that this project does not seem promising, given the track records of past tries.
The only live-action adaptation of anime/ manga that I know has worked out was the Rurouni Kenshin trilogy, which could rely on the familiar imagery of samurai cinema that influenced it.
The other project that I think could be working out is the new live-action adaption of Gundam, a franchise that has all the ingredients for something like the MCU, an adaptation with original story-lines inspired by elements drawn from various incarnations and alternative universes of the main concepts.

I am a simple man, I like stories therefore I dissect and discuss them.A live-action Gundam series can be fun. We already got a really good-looking Gundam in the Ready Player One movie. Plus, who doesn't love a good war movie with Humongous Mecha?
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.It will be fun to see the shitstorm when they inevitably have white actors since Ochako is a brunette while All Might and Bakugo are blond. It's always hilarious, if kinda sad, to see Americans get offended on behalf of another country when nobody actually from that country gives a shit.

Ambiguous appearance aside, it's very clear in-story that Ochako and Bakugo are written as Japanese, as multiple plot points and dialogue exchanges are based around them speaking in regional dialects and even code-switching depending on the environment. And while it's usual for Japanese folks in Japan to not care about whitewashing because it doesn't concern them directly, it is naturally a much bigger deal to Asian-Americans, viewers and actors, because whitewashing has resulting economic and political effects on them.
...Is this a hoax? Please tell me this is a hoax!
This might be too early to call, but do you guys think that if the Detective Pikachu film becomes a success (mostly in the box office), then Legendary Entertainment will start early productions on the live action My Hero Academia movie? Because I think a lot of people are amazed with how well this film looks that it might open up for more live action adaptations of popular Japanese products.

I'm not quite sure if the world is ready for a realistic Tsuyu
Or Mineta
Live action!Mineta would have to be either seriously tone down his usual antics or be removed altogether.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Wasn't there a frog person in one of the X-Men movies? It's not like Tsuyu has to look exactly like in the manga either.

Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?
Thread be like: I lived, b*tch!
We have a director! And here's a surprise, he's actually Japanese.

The film will be produced by Legendary, with Alex Garcia and Jay Ashenfelter overseeing on their behalf, and Ryosuke Yoritomi shepherding the project for Shueisha. Toho will distribute the film in Japan.
I can see the first season fitting okay into a single film, but for now I am cautious.
