ITT: World of Supers

After turning a corner to the left the Black Dragon finds itself at a T-section, with the paths being forward the left leading back to the giant gold worm. If they looked that way, they would not much has changed about the worm expect that it seems to be in a different position, though that may be because they're looking at it from a different angle. Its head still isn't visible.

In front of them and to the wall on the right was a display of a obviously-painted-gold toilet with a cheap-looking royal crown on top and royal scepter leaning on it. Five plastic skeletons on their hands and knees are in front of the toilet, as if they're worshiping it. A sign next to the display reads "Holy Grail of the Man Cave".

Black Knight sees another donation box nearby and uses dark magic again to put it inside the Black Dragon, looking at the display in disgust.

Black Knight:   Ugh, what an ugly work of art...

Ammy clearly agrees on that front, though she's also rather interested in the central structure's position. "Yeah, that is just...why?" Her words are tinged with tension.

In disgust, Black Dragon just drives over the cheap skeletons, their bones snapping with a loud crunch.

After taking the hall ahead and making another turn to the left, another T-section appears. The paths once again are forward and a path to the left that leads to the giant gold worm. Now 180 degrees from when they first saw the worm, its head still isn't visible, but one gets the feeling they should've seen it by this point.

On a large floor display leading to the wall on the right was a large miniature city made out of old metal cans. Standing in said city was a metal sculpture of seems to be a sentei-style combining mecha that resembles one of those wooden nutcrackers facing off against a flying pirate ship with a crew of humanoid rats on board, with their leader wearing a pirate hat with a crown emblem on it. A sign next to the display reads: "The Nutcracker and the Rat King - Modernized" The sign also lists the website of the artist, stating that the artist can make copies of the display to order.

Black Knight sees another donation box and once again floats it into the vehicle.

Black Knight:   Nice display, shame we don't have enough room on the vehicle for it, that nutcracker alone is as tall as the vehicle.   

Det. GC: So, what's the name of this security system?

Officer: Don't know what the acronym stands for, but I heard it's G.A.F.S.

Adrien frowned. "There's... something." They tilt their head in thought. "Can't put my finger on it."

She's a little unnerved by the fact that they still haven't seen the head, but seeing the miniature city makes her chuckle. She quickly takes a snapshot of the website's URL, wishing to buy a copy of it.

Black Knight drives around the sculpture and goes forward down the hallway ahead, arriving at the last crossroads after making a left. To the right one can see the other entrance to the museum. Black Knight sees the last donation box and floats it into the Black Dragon.

Black Knight:[[Well aside from the money we've robbed from the place this museum seems to be a bust, as the only remotely interesting things are too big to carry. Let's go—]]

At that moment a blue laser is shot from the left corridor, hitting the ground right in front of the vehicle. As Black Knight looks to the left the giant gold worm lets out a blood-curling mechanical roar, its tone very much angry. The obviously-now-moving worm rears up its snarling head, sporting an angry grin full of shark-like teeth. It has insect-like jaws on the sides of its mouth and has slanted ruby eyes. Along the top of its back was now a row of spikes. Its only limbs were a pair of slender arms with knife-like claws at the ends. Then, the damned thing spoke.

G.A.F.S.:   I HAVE WATCHED YOU EVER SINCE YOU DECIDED TO LITERALLY CRASH RIGHT IN HERE. I AM THE SOLE GUARD OF THE PLACE AS THERE IS NO NEED FOR OTHERS. THE CAMERAS ARE JUST AN EXTENSION OF MYSELF, AS I CONTAIN THEIR MEMORY. NOW THAT IT SEEM THAT YOU'RE ABOUT TO LEAVE, I CAN FINALLY STRIKE WITHOUT HAVING TO RISK DAMAGING THE ARTIFACTS! AS THE GUARDIAN AUTOMATION FIGHTING SYSTEM, ALSO KNOWN AS G.A.F.S., I SHALL ELIMINATE YOU!   

The robot pronounced its name the same way as "gaffes".

Ammy panics, and empties a entire magazine into the giant worm-thing. "KNIGHT! STEP ON THE GAS!"

Adrien blinks. "Well, we, uh, haven't in fact left, yet..." They blink and are suddenly next to what remains of the Man Cave exhibit. "Stand down, or the... gold toilet... gets it."

The teen had hoped to at least grab some cool old weapons, but they didn't come across. He was also surprised that no one grabbed a few of the gold cans when they passed them. Sure they wouldn't be worth as much as the the whole city but he was sure he could melt down into something unrecognizable. Before he could mention that though the Darkworm came to live. "If you can keep it busy long enough my firebreathing might be able to deal with it"

Shade was just about to sneak into the museum when he heard its security system could deal with powers he decided against it, still he remained hidden in case the criminals were somehow watching them.

The bullets bounces off the worm's golden hide as it turns to to the Man Cave exhibit and fires a blue laser from its mouth, reducing the toilet to ashes.

G.A.F.S.:   THAT ONE IS A FAKE. DO YOU REALLY THINK WE WOULDN'T BE SMART ENOUGH TO HIDE SOME OF THE ORIGINALS IN CASE SOMEONE TRIES TO STEAL THEM? THE REAL ONE USES REAL BONES!   

At that moment the shattering of glass can be heard coming from the opposite direction as the Black Dragon zooms through the other entrance. The song on the Black Dragon's radio had changed to this a moment ago, and right as they smashed through the windows again the song hit the metal part a little over a minute in.

The detective was back to driving his car around the perimeter when he heard a loud crash behind him. The black pickup was now chasing his vehicle instead of the other way around. The detective decides to continue circling the museum, hoping to pick up Shade.

Det. GC: As soon as I pick up Shade, I'll try to lead these cretins away from the city!

Adrien sighs. "Was a terrible idea anyway. Is any of this real? Some of it must be, otherwise you could have shown yourself moment one..." They point in a random direction and begin gathering magical energy on the tip of their finger. "Is it over there?"

Ammy is, quite simply, panicking. Hard. She's run out of ammo for her M1911, and she's not confident enough in her arm to risk trying to fire her M249, let alone even carry it.

After noticing the shattering of the glass at the other entrance, the robotic worm was torn between pursuing the ones that have actually stolen something from the museum or going after Adrian. It makes up its mind and bellows out a roar.

G.A.F.S.:   GRRRRAAAHHHH! YOUR PALS TAKE PRECEDENCE OVER YOU AS THEY'RE ACTUALLY GETTING AWAY WITH A CRIME!   

The robot then smashes the glass dome above it with its head before flying through it.

Black Knight looks through the driver's window at the sound of glass breaking and sees the the golden worm fly out of the museum.

Black Knight:   Yep, definitely gonna have to use the few hidden weapons I stored on here.   

The detective sees the golden robot as well.

Det. GC: I'm being chased by villains that broke into a museum and now a giant robot serpent of some kind appeared... yep, just another average day for me.

She's frantically trying to call one of her contacts so that they would fly over and provide some backup. Unfortunately, her panic leads her to dial several wrong numbers, so it'll take some time.

"Oh, for fuck's sake, why does nothing go right..." Adrien takes a deep breath and blinks again, now clinging one-handed to the worm's back. "No," they intone harshly, slapping their free hand onto the most vulnerable-looking spot in reach and unleashing an Agony Beam.

... Isn't this worm a robot? And you couldn't have pointed that out thirty seconds ago?! Is it not obvious?!

The beam didn't seem to harm the robot, but its golden hide glowed blue from where it was struck for a moment before disappearing as the worm spoke.

G.A.F.S.:   Mysterious tickling sensation somehow powered up my laser mechanisms. Initializing charging up laser protocol while target is pursued.   

The worm then does a aileron roll as it takes off after the Black Dragon. It was at that moment that the detective then turns down a side street away from the museum, with the Black Dragon following suit.

Inside the Black Dragon, Black Knight opens a compartment with his magic and hands over a black shield that matches Black Knight's armor to Ammy.

Black Knight:   Here, this may help. It's enchanted with my dark magic to shield against energy blasts. Don't know how strong the lasers from that thing is, so I don't know how well the shield will work against that.   

Up ahead, the side street seems to be full of clotheslines filled with laundry.

"Shit, shit, shit!" Ammy quickly picks up the shield, holding it up in the approximate location of the laser's impact, all the while also still trying to dial the contact.

It's even worse, now.

Adrien is still clinging to the worm, but very disoriented. You would not believe the amount of profanity they're spewing right now. Just, so much of it. A sailor would blush.

"Robot, robot, why don't I HAVE ANY ANTI-ROBOT SPELLS?!?"

In sheer frustration, they start blasting the worm with unformed bursts of concussive magic. Are you out of your — "SHUT UP!!"

Black Knight leans out the driver's side window while his right arm is still on the steering wheel and fires a beam of dark energy at the detective's car, the beam being black with purple edges. The detective sees the energy blast just in time and quickly shifts the vehicle into hover mode before doing a barrel roll to avoid getting hit. The dark energy continued onward before knocking the gun out of a would-be mugger who holding a woman at gunpoint, which the woman promptly takes advantage of by beating him up with her purse.

Meanwhile, the worm was so focusing on following the Black dragon it didn't notice the clotheslines hanging above the streets until it was too late, flying right into them. Its body now covered in a bunch of clothes, some of them still wet, the worm does a barrel roll itself before doing a loop-de-loop to shake the clothes off. The robot then does a sharp swerve to the right as it swoops into the entrance of a car wash, somehow paying the attendants there with cash before swiftly coming out the other side, its body now clean but having suds still on it as the robot resumes chasing the Black Dragon.

During all of this, ordinary citizens are just going about their regular business, regarding the scene as nothing unusual.

A brief chuckle, again tinged with tension; a whole lot of it.

At the very least, the extra few minutes bought by this allows her to finally get the number right, and thankfully he was around to answer it.

"Well, I got us some backup. It's gonna be a few extra minutes until he gets here, though, if things go well."

For fuck's sake, get off the worm and do something useful! Like what?! Like using your damned Charged Attack! ... Oh!

Adrien blinks onto the truck and starts gathering magical energy on their finger again. "This'll take a minute," they inform Addy and BK.

"Fuck." That's it, that's all she can really supply, other than holding up Black Knight's shield, making sure that at the very least they had some protection against...whatever the hell their pursuers had.

The detective turns left onto a main street, and the edge of the city can be seen straight ahead, with the surrounding woods in sight just a few blocks away. The Black Dragon follows suit, with the worm close behind.

Black Knight sees a police car by the side of the road and notice the policeman is fast asleep in it. Chuckling evilly, he use his dark magic to float the policeman's hat into the Black Dragon.

At that moment a large semi-truck was making a wide turn, but the angle was too sharp and its trailer tips over, releasing pies of a variety of flavors all over the intersection. The detective and Black dragon both sharply swerve around the mess, with Black Knight using his dark magic to float an intact apple pie inside the Black Dragon.

"Oh, shit, shit, SHIT!" As she braces, she ends up losing the shield. "I've lost the shield! And that...giant worm AI thing's still chasing us!"

"Well, that's not ideal," Adrien remarks, still charging. "But we're not desperate yet." Too bad you missed the chance to get her on our team. That Lunar Barrier of hers would come in handy right now. ... Yes, I suppose that's true.
