Super Smash Bros Ultimate (SPOILER Thread)

Watch anyone who uses the 'irrelevant, one game, dead character' reason as to why a character shouldn't be playable turn around and gush how perfect Crono is for Smash.

I really doubt this. Ness is the only character to steal heavily from their teammates, and that's mostly so he'd have enough specials

I was going to say something about there being more teammates than available specials, but looking at the "leak" text you actually choose the partners and the moves they influence before the match and that sounds incredibly out of character for Smash to me (also, a lot of work for one character)

To be fair, the Xenoblade spoilers present in the Smash Bros. games aren't even the biggest spoilers of the game.

didn't brawl spoil mother 3 for everyone? and didn't having the sheik/zelda ta team in melee spoil ocarina of time for some players?

RE: Crono from Chrono Trigger in Smash Ultimate:

Wasn't Chrono Trigger released for the SNES and is considered one of the best games for that system?

At the very least, I recognize Crono a lot more than I do Erdrick.

There is no way that Crono gets in over a Dragon Quest character.

Mother 3 is a twenty year old game though. Xenoblade is super mild about it's spoilers compared to what those are, awakening kinda same, fair point for kid icarus. Still, I feel like spoiling the end of a game barely two years old would be above their usual shtick.

No offense meant, but why's everyone certain that there's going to be another Square Enix rep in the DLC fighters? Judging by how bare bones the content for Squeenix's "flagship" franchise is in Ultimate, it feels like to me that they don't particularly want to be involved with Smash outside of the bare minimum.

I think it’s half wishful thinking, half some leaker said so, if I remember right. Which granted is how a lot of this sort of speculation goes. X3

I've never understood the logic that, because they didn't put in a ton of Final Fantasy stuff, they have no interest in putting anything from their other franchises in.

It's highly possible they're just protective of FF specifically.

Crono is not going to be in. A character from 1995 is too old and outdated to be in Smash.

Now 1996, on the other hand

I feel like one of the stranger parts of it is Minecraft DLC. Outside of the Fighter pass.

Well duh. The entire game isn't built around it for one thing. As long as I get a decent selection of objects to work with and my choice of background music like the other games, then I won't have any complaints.

Duck Hunt Dog in Smash 4 was almost 30 years old at that point. I don't understand how a character from 1995 would be too outdated. King K Rool's first appearance was in 1992.

Nobody should expect it to be as good as Mario Maker, though I do hope it's better than the stage building in previous games. Brawl's stage creator had too few parts in it, and Smash 4 had its own problems (drawing the stage instead of using blocks was harder for me for some reason). It shouldn't be too hard to make one better.
