Deepnest -> Hill of Origin (Lost Vessel) ~ I Have Many Questions

After fighting its way through what felt like a million multi-legged beasts spawned out of their winged mothers, the Lost Vessel dropped into the entrance of what appeared to be a broken vehicle of some kind. The large windows were cracked, yet surprisingly intact given the state of the thing, and two rows of empty front-facing seats awaited passengers that would no longer come.

This vehicle, and the whole area leading up to it, brought an image of the machine asking for a tram pass elsewhere in this area to the Vessel's mind. Perhaps this was what it was referring to? Furthermore, even in this darkness it could see a little glint of something metal towards the front of the machine. It approached and stooped down to collect its prize: a small, cylindrical piece of metal. It looked the thing over, noting that it might have fit into the hole of the tram pass machine.

Then it pocketed its newfound prize and turned to leave, intent on putting its theory to the test. Alas, it wouldn't get the chance...but not for any reason the ruins of Hallownest would normally be responsible for.

It jumped back out of the vehicle's exit, only to have its vision be filled with an unexpected blinding light. In its shock the Vessel fumbled for the old nail clinging to its back, attempting to prepare itself for a fight.

The blinding light that plagues their dreams...Was this the light it was destined to seal? Had it finally found it?

As it turned out, the "blinding light" was nothing more than its vision needing to adjust. In a moment it found itself able to see once more, and furthermore in a completely new location unlike anything Hallownest had to offer. From its position it could see what appeared to be a city that seemed to be in a much better state than anything it was used to, with a massive tree somewhere off in the distance. Its own location was on some massive hill overlooking the whole place, covered with healthy plantlife. Nary a husk nor a beast to be seen. No traces of the Infection. The best guess the Vessel had for its new location was somewhere above ground, given the wind and the sky above.

How did it get here from those claustrophobic caverns deep below? Was that tram pass more powerful than it initially appeared?

Well, it certainly wasn't going to accomplish anything standing here. There was a new place to explore just in front of it...and if it wanted answers, exploring it shall go. On that thought the Vessel began to make its way down the hill towards the city, casting a glance at the ominous red sky above it. Perhaps the light it sought to seal was here...?

Those looking upon the Vessel would see a being resembling an insect, perhaps about half the height of an average human. A dark, tattered cloak covered most of its body except for its white face, with two black, empty eyes and three horns; one short one on the upper left of its head, and two much longer, curving horns on the right. On its back was its nail, nearly as tall as its body sans its head, which was very old and worn, but still surprisingly sharp given its condition.

Omega - Timeskip

Experiment log - Day 1. Secured base of operations. Top level of dilapidated housing structure provides adequate shelter, advantageous lines of sight to inhabited parts of city.

Day 2 - Systematic repairs initialized. Projected time until minimal combat readiness - nine days. Time until full combat readiness - unknown.

Day 5 - Group of mortal refugees have taken up residence in lower floors of structure. Refugees deemed non-hostile, potentially useful observational subjects. I will not drive them away, for now.

Day 6 - Beginning observation expeditions into surrounding areas. Mortals have established commerce zones, training facilities, organizational hubs, manufacturing centers. Likelihood of gathering useful data - relatively high. I will avoid military areas until combat systems fully operational.

Day 9 - Fellow test subject (large military-grade automaton) spotted shadowing my movements. Priority objective - determine his intentions.

Day 11 - Repairs complete. Combat readiness levels acceptable. Close approach of comet generating observable distortions in background aetheric waveforms, especially fire-aspected frequencies. Unfortunately, I currently lack the instrumental sensitivity to fully analyze this phenomena.

Omega - Day 14 - Adventurer's guild, quest board.

This morning, Omega walked her usual route through the city, observing the mortals as they went about their daily routines. She wasn't sure how useful this data was going to be, but she recorded it all regardless. The population had been growing more agitated as the sky grew more and more red - not an entirely superstitious reaction, all things considered.

For now, her objective was the quest board, and the imminent attack on the fire nation. With her combat systems finally repaired, she was glad for the chance to test them in the field. Stepping up to the board, the silvery woman scanned it for pertinent information, turning her head to look as someone called for volunteers. She promptly raised one hand.

"I wish to participate in the upcoming attack."

Shopping District -> Guild Hall, Destoroyah

"Oooh, nice flag!" Destoroyah said, looking pretty impressed. Then Lune went off on her way.

"Seems like everyone's heading for the Guild Hall. Guess I'll see you there, then."

And with that, she went over to the Guild Hall.

"So, are we gonna beat the shit outta this Fire Nation or what?"

She had a very toothy grin right now.

Shirakami - Adventurer's Guild

"It... It was as nice as it can be sleeping in the tank", the fox responded to Rico. Truth be told laying out her sleeping bag and sleeping in the cramped metal interior was not exactly her primary choice of sleeping arrangements, but her machine currently lacked any kind of locking system, and she did not want any one to steal it that would be a disaster.

"Ummmm... How about you? It.... seems like you have been busy with the rifle I gave you?" She queried, not mad in the slightest, but infact kind of intrigued by what he had done to it. The idea of stuffing a huge magizine on the thing would make it a lot easier to use, and it looked like he had some how got one of the barrel shrouds built into the barrel.

Though this mostly just translated to a head tilt as she was busy eating her meal in some some simplistic more traditional clothing, avoiding the whole "military uniform" unless she was on duty.

Kaga - Train Station Workshop

Kaga did her best to hold on, not really used to this at all.... samurai and mounted warfare were things of the distant past not something she figured she would have to train for now. M16 brought up a good point about grabbing one of the flying ones though, if those already existed it defiantly would save effort... she wasn't sure about connecting them to M16 though, she wanted independence and redundancy, not connecting even more stuff to her most valuable aide, although this was something that could be addressed later, for right now though this wasn't exactly the time.

"As much as I want to get on this as soon as possible, we have other obligations... I know we never set a specific time for the attack on the fire nation, but the sky seems.... angry for lack of a better word, and it seems to be making them stronger.... And we have no info on when or if it will peak and end. We need to strike NOW before it gets worse, Wei has already melted our best tea pots and if he can do that.... Imagine what we will be walking into if this goes on for another week or two? Its not a good thought"

The fox paused briefly before continuing, "With this in mind, we need to press Guzma and the others to carry out the assault today... And if we are doing that I would rather not expend my air-power hunting down one of the birds... We can always post a bounty on one if needed, but I need all hands on deck for the attack.... I would rather not experience a repeat of loosing track of the long term goal for a short term objective"

Fuzy Pirate - Train Station

Siluca was greeted by a fox boy who was dressed in pirate attire, a bit with a kasa on top his head that bore the logo of Kaga's group. There was machine oil stains on his body that made it look like he had just finished murdering a robot. "Oi, its going to take forever to get this stuff out of my fur", he mused to himself before he noticed the woman nearby.

"Hmmm? Your looking for the Commander? I think they are in the workshop... We kinda fucked over one of the "engines" she was trying to teach us to fix, plus I think M16 wanted to show her something", he replied before throwing his head over towards the hallway leading to the westward facing exit. "Last door that-a-war, closest the airfield, damn thing weighs a tone"

Oscar, The Benchwarmer, Adventurer's Guild > "Hornet"

"I much appreciate that." Nodding at Lady, Oscar went back to perusing the quest board, idly listening to the conversations happening around and about. There was a lot of excitement about taking the Fire Nation down a peg - a very understandable sentiment - but they could not let their guard down. With that huge comet in the sky, there was no telling what could possibly happen.

Plus, there were more barbarians out there than just the Fire Nation. Orderlies had to be vigilant and seeing as his presence could distract Kaga and her goons from doing a proper thing, he would perform much better at the home turf. Another woman with monstrous characteristics showed up, eager to pick a fight with fire savages, as did Omega. "By Will and Reason, I trust you will be victorious." He nodded at the general enthusiasm. "Please excuse me. I must attend to the defenses." And then he was gone, looking up at the blood red sky with a frown. Worrying, truly worrying.

Shortly, he made his way back to "Hornet", approaching the two shipgirl sisters. He maintained a respectful distance, in a salute as he waited for sisterly business to be concluded; it would be untoward to cut in.

Lady (Guild Hall)-An observation

Lady nodded at Oscar as he departed, noticing that lots of people were starting to jump out of the woodwork and announce their intent to join the fight. One of them, a silvery, long haired woman, caught her attention, not because she was completely silver, but for another reason.

"You're pretty eager to join up." Lady said as she turned to Omega. "But aren't you forgetting something? A weapon, perhaps? Even a sword would be better then nothing."

The way that she said sword might tip off the fact that she did not look particularly highly on swords.

Enterprise - The Hornet

"Ah thank you sister."

She took a look at the food Yorktown had brought and decided to take a bite out of the chocobo leg. It wasn't like the food back home, but it was good enough. She was also feeling really hungry.

"I think the Hornet is ready for battle now, and not a moment too soon considering the way the sky has been looking. I guarantee you Kaga is thinking the same thing, so we'll likely be heading into a fight soon."

The only thing really stopping her from going for the oil was the fact that Oscar was there and she didn't feel like making herself out to be a complete slob in front of a subordinate.

"Oscar do you have anything to report?"

Gespenst - Shopping District -> Adventurer's guild

The black machine waved bye to both Destoroyah and Lune before going about his way, picking up some cloth and other supplies needed to make his flag before beginning to make his way down to the Adventurer's guild with rover carrying the supplies. He was gonna have a lot of fun going full theatrical with this assault.

Of course upon arrival at the meeting place, he saw that it wasn't really an organized group so much as a bunch of ragtags all wanting in on an impending fight...which suited him just fine really, organized factions were a pain in the ass anyway. Still he looked around to note specifically who was there, noticing Omega and the lady with guns had also shown up.

He decided to not bug them as they already seemed to be talking with each other, so he to go find a seat while starting work on the flag. It was going to be do or die time soon enough, but it wasn't that point yet and he could use the calm before the storm to prepare.

O'Kais, Hall

-On reaching the hall, O'Kais heads for the admiral, hoping the situation will be easy to resolve. Orbital sterilization of the city is impossible for the moment, while containment and elimination of Warp-touched gue'la will prove difficult at best.-

Gue'vesa'el, do you know of the connection between the sky's color and your fluctuating powers?

Mokou, Bar

-Mokou nods and opens the package.-

I have some chocobo yakitori. You got any sake?

Wulfrik, Wasteland

Omega - Quest board

Omega turned towards the black-haired mortal woman who had spoken up, looking at her impassively for a moment.

"My weapons systems are fully integrated. I can deploy them at any time." To demonstrate, both of her hands shimmered and melted into silvery liquid, stretching and reforming. In a few seconds, her staff had settled into her left hand, crackling with blue energy for a moment. Her right arm had simply become a long, curved blade from the elbow down.

"This experiment draws subjects from a variety of dimensions. It would be prudent to assume that everyone is armed in some fashion, even if not immediately identifiable." She added helpfully. Mortals often required information from others to correct lapses in logical assessment, after all.

Lady (Guild Hall)-Probably about to be corrected again

Lady nodded, impressed as the woman suddenly spawned weapons out of thin air. Convenient, no doubt. She'd already figured out the woman was non-human, that was obvious enough, hadn't quite been expecting her to be a robot. Or....was that the correct word? She diden't know offhand, she wasen't an expert in science fiction terms.

"Impressive. So you're....a robot? Machine? AI? I'm sorry, I don't know the correct word, we don't have things like you in my world outside of movies and books. Name's Lady, a demon hunter with no demons whatsoever to hunt." She extended a hand toward Omega.

Adventurer's Guild - Naga

"Ooooh yes, dohohoho, prominent indeed!" Naga said, happy that Lune had proven herself to be a woman of refined taste.

"Speaking of...." Naga continued, thinking about something for a moment. She glanced over and saw that Hiccup and Toothless had entered the guild at some point. "Perfect!"

She stood up and marched over towards the duo, pulling out a small bag from her chest.

"Yoohoo! Dragon!" she called out, approaching Toothless. "As we agreed, twelve coins. Invest it wisely, now. It's your tail you're spending."

She held the bag up for the dragon to do with as he wished.

Adventurer's Guild

Over by the request board, the Guild Gal finished writing on a piece of paper, and then nodded when it was done. She put the job request on the board, and then went back to sitting at the little counter that she had near it.

She was certainly going places. Who would have thought that a little village girl like her would one day grow up to have a white-collar desk job?

Yorktown - Hornet

Yorktown smiled as Enterprise started to eat, but then pouted when Oscar showed up. Of course her sister wouldn't want a subordinate to see her fueling up. It might look... crass... for a human like him.

He wouldn't understand.

"Yes, do you?" she echoed to Oscar.

M16A1 - Train Station Workshop

"Yeah yeah, I getchya," M16 acquiesced, holding both of her hands up partially in protest. "Fire Nation won't destroy itself. Just something to consider for when we get back, you know?"

She shrugged.

"We should practice having you do your plane thing while doing this," M16 added. "If you have to stop to let those things takeoff or land, might be a problem. Since I've got to split up for the attack I won't have all my bodies on you, so this should help with making up the difference and keeping you safe. And if you wind up having to make a beach landing, this way we can keep you mobile and avoid being a sitting duck."

The cow came in low as it galloped by M16, and she jumped onto the thing's back behind Kaga.

"Come on, let's see your deck, we don't have a whole lotta time to give you a crash course on riding this thing," she said as the Broadhead started to trot out of the station towards.

Omega - Quest board

After a second spent looking at Lady's outstretched hand, Omega returned her right arm to its default form and reached out as well.

"I am Omega, an adaptive autonomous weapon system" She replied, taking Lady's hand in a cold, slightly-too-firm grip and shaking in one perfectly calculated arc. "Robot, machine, or Artificial Intelligence are also accurate descriptors."

Demon hunter - a mortal warrior specialized in eradicating voidsent, or local equivalent non-human sub-type. Omega nodded in understanding. "I was originally designed to combat the dragon Midgardsormr. In the absence of my designated target, I adapted. There is a non-zero probability that your skillset will still be relevant in the future. If not, you should be capable of adaptation as well."

Zenyatta - One With Harmony In All Its Forms

Yet more time had passed, and now Zenyatta could be found in the vicinity of the God Tree and its surrounding forest. While careful to remain out of range of the training grounds so as not to disturb the children in their pursuit of defense, Zenyatta himself remained close enough to the grounds that he could easily be approached by any of the students, or by the staff of the school. Currently, the robotic monk was seated on the grass in deep meditation; so at peace was he, that when a small group of Pikgirls came up and started to poke at him curiously, there was no response to the touch, just continued meditation.

Lady (Guild Hall)-The form of a weapon

Lady nodded, at the same time somewhat confused. She was built to fight a dragon? A lofty goal, to be sure, even she'd hestate if someome tried to hire her to go after a dragon. But something wasen't adding up. The machine continued, and Lady nodded.

"That's the idea. Always seems to be some idiot trying to cause trouble, even without demons. That's why I've signed up for this Fire Nation trip. A bunch of vile sounding things going on over there. So...."

Lady looked Omega's form over again. "You're a weapon? Not to judge, but I admit I'm a little confused. If you're a machine made to kill dragons, why would your creators make you in a human form?"

Lady held back the other half of her question about why said form was so.....shapely. She suspected she knew that answer. A bunch of sexually fustrated scientists were likely to blame there.

Gespenst - Adventurer's Guild

The black mech stopped his work on the flag and looked at Omega as she made her arms turn into weapons. Ok so she was one of those types of machines, probably superior in terms of raw combat strength as well, a great future opponent. He'd need to properly introduce himself later, but that would have to wait. Gespenst shifted his attention over to the new quest that the guild clerk just put up next, putting his flag away and walking over to read what mission needed to be done. He'd need something to do once he was back from what ever mission he was about to go on.

Chun-Li, The Hornet

Over the two weeks, Chun-Li had been helping her students train in martial arts and helped the others fix up the Hornet. She kept her offer to train anyone open, but with the arrival of the Darcsens and their more up-to-date technological knowledge as well as the existence of some class change option, she had few recruits of her own over this period. She had made it up to 20 personal students now, though a few of the villagers she originally had in her group left to get class changes into more combat-oriented classes and join the 250 who also did so. Most of her new students were Darcsens who Chun-Li were happy to train in martial arts. The Street Fighter had noted that Juri were still helping to train those who joined Naga and her group, including some of her own former students. Eventually, Chun-Li and her students had chosen to try to check out how the Hornet was doing, though something left her ill at ease.

"Hey, everyone..." Chun-Li waved to Yorktown and the others. "Anyone here weirded out by the red sky today?"

Juri, Adventurer's Guild

"I think you will do well here, then," Juri laughed, though not at Lune and it was not a laugh as... Naga as Naga's. "But yeah, anyone know what's up with that sky?"

"Red skies aren't exactly normal weather," Juri looked over towards Wendy since she broached the subject.

Siluca - Train Station

Engine? That did sound like the word for the machine the Darscens described to her. She did remember reading that oil was needed to maintain them, though producing that substance hadn’t been one of her highest priorities.

Siluca went over to the room the fox boy pointed to her, though on the way, she spotted a few of Kaga's assistants, or doubles of her. For some reason, Siluca had not quite memorized their name even though she thought she heard it before.

"I'm here to..."

Though before she could tell one of the M16 clones why she had come, a giant mechanical bull came trotting out into the hall. Almost on reflex, she began to grab for her wand, before seeing both Kaga and the main M16 on it.

"Kaga!" she called out, before then trying to run out of the bull's path and potentially back down the hallway if necessary.

If the bull passed, Siluca would try chasing after the bull until it stopped or slowed down, though when it stopped, or assuming nothing else happened or someone tried to stop her, Siluca would then speak to the two riding the bull.

"I'm sorry for intruding on... whatever it was you were doing. I was going to ask if there was any more room for assistance on that upcoming mission. I know I haven't been entirely supportive of the plan, but I've begun to reconsider my previous thinking."

Hill of Origins

"Hi hi.~❤" Peering at the newcomer after cresting up the hill was everyone's favorite deranged alchemist, Cagliostro! On this fine day of burning skies and red cloud, the girl had decided to be bedecked in her Halloween garb to get into the spirit of things, the fall-colored clothing serving to compliment the spooky atmosphere even further.

How did the Founder know there was someone new to the area? T'is a secret!~☆ (Though it might have something to do with inconspicuous golems set up here and there, especially at the one entry point for their region).

"I guess you must be pretty confused with where you are right now but worry not, the great me can help!" Unscrupulously taking a brochure from Hiccup's info booth, the alchemist then floated the piece of paper on over to where the Lost Vessel was standing while wondering if it could read. If not then she'd probably go into Super Genius Tour Guide Mode to verbally compensate for illiterate upbringings.

God Tree

Looking up from drafting her lesson plans for the future (a veritable pile of textbooks had already piled up from the various knowledge she could scrounge up from the Knight network's memory fragments), the Dragon Knight hummed thoughtfully before setting her rather thick journal of notes down.

"I'll be honest we are missing a few spots... though thankfully those can be hired in the future since they're more specialized knowledge that will build off the basics we are instilling. I'd rather have a stable foundation rather than a precarious house of playing cards that keeps collapsing. The printing press is serving to prove incredibly useful for the procurement of papers though so it won't be long before we're able to actually afford books."

Stretching out the kinks in her neck, the taller than average woman flashed Junko the sort of smile that would probably make her sick from sugary sweetness as she expressed her heartfelt thanks. "I appreciate your hard work in educating the children. The little ones too are rather appreciative of your efforts in giving them knowledge."

To drive the point in even further, the tykes had been curiosity driven sponges that took in the general knowledge with great aplomb unlike the bored youths of modern society. "Is there anything else you wish to discuss today? Also are you cold? I've noticed you've been wearing gloves lately so I could probably ask the tailors to start making cold weather gear if you need it.

Adventurer's Guild

"Ah, the phenomenon you're describing might be either something very similar to or even is Sozin's Comet." Admiral Wei responded to the question heard with a simple shrug of his shoulders, the neatly groomed man wearing what appeared to be a frilly pink apron as he began serving free tea (but not the good stuff) to the various people arrayed about the location with gentlemanly grace.

"Sozin's Comet is an astrological phenomena that happens when a great comet infringes near the atmosphere of the Earth, the event in question taking place every hundred years as its coming dyes the skies red and heats up the very air itself. After skimming the very edge of the skies for a single day, it'll then depart for the next hundred years." Demonstrating by simply puffing air out of his nose to reach foot-long streaks that resembled dragon whiskers, the tea loving officiant grabbed a cup for himself to sip from.

"In any case, such an event is usually a sign of prosperity for the Fire Nation as it greatly improves the ease and power of which we can Firebend, romanticized as Ozai himself as lending the country the force of a hundred suns. Though nowhere near as dramatic as he claims it is truth that Firebenders will enjoy heightened prowess that will peak when the comet itself is seen visibly streaking against the dome of sky. If I had to wager and go off of history, the true event should be happening come the morrow as this is the portent of its imminent arrival."

Pausing a bit to let it sink in for those arrayed about, Admiral Wei then continued. "Fire Lord Ozai probably plans to use the great power afforded to launch a preemptive assault against the enemies from further into the ocean that has been harassing the country for a while which is why scouting parties seem to have disappeared into thin air. I've heard plans about an all-out blitzkrieg but with Sozin's Comet coming upon us, the decisive Fire Lord will fully commit to an all out attack while the Fire Nation is at its utmost peak to wreak great havoc upon the enemies of the Fatherland."

Grizzly thought about things for a moment before nodding his head. "Sadly we don't have any sake stocked due to the staple grains of rice not being planted anywhere around the area at the current moment. We've got grape wine, mead, and ale if you want alcohol though." Apologetically shrugging at the request, the bartender let out a small sigh.

Wastelands

The most reliable part of the band shouted out in gruff voices that sounded like shrieking monkeys before riding off with ground shaking engine vibrations and fraternity tiered whooping as they pealed off into the description. Stealth 0 was the best way to describe the band of scouts really.

Adventurer's Guild

"Oof," Rico winced. Armored fighting vehicles, as convenient and awesome and explosive as they were, weren't usually the most comfortable rides. Sleeping inside a tank was something Rico had only done a few times in his life, and it didn't really matter what the tank was, it was always a hideous experience that left him with pains and cricks in places he'd never had them before. "See, this is why I wanted to put the fuzzy seat in there. Make a little more comfortable. But no, it had to stay original, only useful modifications," he jested.

Shirakami eventually brought attention to the retrofitted machine gun, and Rico was surprised at how she mostly just seemed curious about how he'd modified the thing. Taking that as a cue to show her in full, the bane of dictators unlimbered the heavy machine gun off of his back before setting it down onto the table as gently as he possibly could. "You gave me quite the lemon, Miss Fubuki. Twenty round magazine capacity in a gun that weighs fifty pounds? It was practically unusable. Fortunately, a factory opened up a few days after I got it and I was able to get some work done on it in exchange for time helping the factory."

He gestured to the changes made to the weapon. "Sheared the scope off, given I plan to use the thing as a heavy weapon I'm going to be aiming with tracers. Mounted a chainsaw-type grip on the barrel so that I can actually carry and fire the thing without ripping my arms off - by the way, had to get a reinforced barrel, too. The old one overheated if I tried to fire a burst any longer than fifteen rounds. And finally, a very, very heavy-duty magazine loaded into the top. One hundred round twin-drum. It'll keep me shooting about as long as I need to."

"Still trying to think of a name," he mused. "I'm going with Thumper for now. Doesn't shoot very fast, but I'm sure this'll make whatever's on the other end feel every round."

Scrooge - Adventurer’s Guild

Scrooge supported Siluca’s decision. “Good luck, lass. Tough, they can’t be that hard to find, so I guess you don’t need it.” He then answered Lady’s question with a proud smile. “My proposal is the adoption of an official money system. In fact, I have brought samples…” He stopped in shock when he saw Naga approach and show her own coins.

He should have expected this. He should have known someone else who understand the importance of wealth would have had the same idea as him. He know he shouldn’t get angry over that. But still, he couldn’t help but be miffed that the obnoxious witch did her project at roughly the same time as him. Especially since she apparently didn’t even plan to inform the others about the currency. In fact, he noticed another problem.

He approached the half-naked women and pointed at her bag. “Are these all gold?” He asked with bewilderment, as if he just saw someone try to teach a hippo how to do a backflip.

Entry 002 Part 6 (Lune - Adventurer's Guild)

Luckily, the duo complimented me on my answer. The purple-haired swimsuit model even laughed to emphasize her response even more. Seriously... What's up with the wealthy and their habit of laughing when they're in a good mood?

“Thanks, you two,” I mumbled while trying to hide my second-hand embarrassment. “If you get the chance, why don't you browse my toy shop in the shopping distract? You'll get the chance to use your new currency. We even have a cute pink-haired mascot!”

Hiccup & Toothless entered the guild and the purple-haired swimsuit model gave the dragon-rider some coins for completing some task for her. I wasn't even there for that, but it must be important if they agreed upon it.

“Heya, Hiccup”, I greeted as I waved at him with grease-covered fingers. “How's it going?”

Apparently, the strange phenomenon outside was called Sozin's Comet. It essentially gave Firebenders enhanced speed & magic-casting ability as long as it was in the sky. Fire Lord Ozai was going to use this ability to launch a massive assault on us if we weren't planning to invade first.

And then a talking duck investigated the coins. It seemed he had a knack for investigating money. He did have a nice tophat & monocle, the iconic rich-people clothing. Heh. Maybe, fashion is a constant on the more modern worlds.

“And who might you be?”

Juri, Adventurer's Guild

Juri glanced over at the talking Scottish duck when he was incredulous at the bag of gold coins, "If you must know, we raided a bandit camp two weeks ago... Well, it wasn't so much a raid as kicking the ass of perverts who deserved it and taking their stuff."

"We used the device that Char found which apparently can send people someplace else and back again," Juri shrugged at the others. "And that bag is my share of the raid."

Reiko, The BMX Bandit - Quest Board
Getting around this town was hard.

Being ripped from her comfortable home where professional drivers with fancy supercars were willing to drive her to and from missions and thrown into a lawless wasteland where only the fit (to walk) survived, Reiko was left with only one choice.

Find a bike.

It was pretty easy to say AND do, come to think of it. Some kid out there was willing to part with his perfectly fine bicycle for the low price of just one coin of gold worth thousands of dollars back home. Now she was cruising in style, comfort, and speed.

Also, she had been doing a lot of planning. Planning, training, teaching the Vessel the basics of radio communication and tactical movement, trying to find the better members of their little community planning committee to go do the job...I just felt that the bike part was more important, so that's what I started with.

Now, Reiko was lazily peddling down the road. One hand on the handlebar, the other limply hanging at her side, and looking somewhat awkward as she moved at walking speed alongside the Vessel.

The Vessel was nice to be around. Unlike...most people in her life, it couldn't respond on the move with more than a shake or nod of the head. And for Reiko, that was a good thing.

"...You don't have cats where you're from, right?"

That's right. Reiko could socialize with it.

As she presumably got her answer, she coasted up to the Quest Board and ran out of momentum just in front of Lady and Omega. Her own advertisement was looking kind of ratty right about now, she noticed.

"Nice gun," she idly commented to Lady.

Kaga - Train Station Workshop

"You realize I cant exactly make it any smaller right? Attempting to summon it in here, and especially on this thing is only asking for problems" The fox replied to M16, not exactly keen on having her planes crash into walls, furniture, or the ceiling.... though this was cut short as they headed past Siluca, and she called out to them. Kaga's ears paned to her, and she motioned for M16 to slow so she could follow.

"We have a whole cargo ship to carry us, so there is always room for more.... Actually we were just about to inform Guzma we need to leave... Now... Do you know where he is? The sky is ominous, and it seems to be making firebenders more powerful... if we wait much longer we have no idea how strong they can get.

Shirakami - Adventurer's Guild

"And...." Shirakami started to reply to Rico, before there was a long pause, she was obviously reconsidering her stance on the more comfortable interior, but after a few seconds she shook her head and continued "And.... while the seat seems nice we are already pushing the weight tolerance with the extra fuel..." The way she trailed off implied she wasn't the happiest with the conclusion she had come to here, but it felt like the one she would have to make.

"Sorry about the machine gun though, it was made to be mounted to a tank... not exactly.... carried around... I am glad to see you were able to find some use for it though", she replied to him on the front of the weapon with a nod.

Although, this was about the time when some one new and looking like a walking armory themselfs called out another person for not having any weaponry, while she knew neither Lady nor Omega, she mustered herself to what she could to interject.

"Ummmmmm I-If they don't have any weaponry I could always the assistance crewing my....", although this was quickly cut off by Omega tranforming her arm into a blade. ".... Nevermind"
