Great pilot episode. I wonder if the show will get pick up Netflix or another streaming site since IIRC, the pilot was funded by Patreon and took 2 years to make, it might need more funding and staff to make it into a full season.

Yeah, the show has love and sweat in spades. But it really needs manpower to keep up the creativity and quality that a full series implies. Animating a full 30 minutes like this is a ton of effort, even for a legit animation studio, let alone an indie passion project on Youtube.

[up][up]It’s a pilot. They can’t sustain production themselves and they probably realize it.

It’s an increasingly popular trend for creators that either don’t have an in with the establishment or are on the out for whatever reason to go into business for themselves, be it animation, regular TV shows, hell, pro wrestling with the National Wrestling Alliance funding a 1 hour studio show out of pocket and putting it up on You Tube. And hey, they got, last I checked, 2.7 million views. That is guaranteed to raise some eyeballs as everyone looks for content to lock down.

So...I just watched the pilot and...

It's pretty nice actually. Alastor and Angel Eyes are a fucking blast to watch! And yeah, I think I spoiled myself by watching the sneak peek haha... Hopefully the show will do well despite being a pilot.

Cherri Bomb is hawt

I hope this goes on, I really really do. There's much to explore and learn about in Hell.

And what about other Hells from other cultures and religions and stuff? I like to think a viking got sent to this Hell instead Helheim for the lulz

And I need some clarification, those who end up in Hell, do they mutate, transform to be what they are, or were they already like that in life?

[down]Now that you mention it, I'm also curious as well.

We really need a character spreadsheet cause there are so many characters that have appeared for only an instant that I want a clearer look at their designs.

Like the dinosaur trio.

[up]Oh yes I agree. There's so many interesting looking background characters and the extensive usage of Cast of Snowflakes is...awesome. Till then, I guess you can stop frame by frame when there's crowd of demons I suppose.

I hope if this continues on, it explores characters backstories. Showing them what they were in life, what they did and their ultimate demise that sent them to Hell. And if they regret so much or not

@akanesasumura Yeah... I actually hope that the series will get picked up someday. Though at the same time, I'm also afraid with what happened in animation industry. That and I'm not a Netflix subscriber actually.

Ya know, I've seen some theories that Alastor may be Lucifer in disguise.

What are you guys' thoughts on that?

I'm pretty sure the creators have already detailed alastor's backstory in some q/a somewhere, and it would very much not mesh well with that theory

Alastor is formerly a serial killer masquerading as a popular radio broadcaster whom was active during the 20s but was caught and put to death sometime in the 30s. The pilot kind of implies with that one off line about the Great Depression that his prime target was probably orphans or kids during the Great Depression.

Him being a radio broadcaster during his time alive is definetly where his broadcaster voice comes from along with some of his abilities and his more showoffy, entertaining part of his personality.

I don't think Lucifer/Satan is him but it could be possible that he may be friends with Lucifer or perhaps empowered by him. It's not quite clear what exactly Lucifer is like barring what little Charlie has said about him and that one family picture.

@Vengeful Bale Eh...Interesting theory but I quite disagree. I guess the reason why I think of that is because Lucifer's portrait is far different compared to Alastor.

[up]I can see where the theory comes from. Alastor and Lucifer both grin very similarly but that could just be a coincidence or it could be possible that maybe Lucifer/Satan gave Alastor some of his abilities for some unspecified reason and they are related in that way?

I mean Lucifer is the Devil of course and Alastor in general has a attitude where I could easily see him making a deal with the Devil.

Some speculation about Lucifer and Lilith. I suspect that Lucifer and God's falling out in this setting was way way worse considering that god keeps sending angels to purge the demons constantly to the point Hell has a timer for when it occurs. With that in mind it would be perfectly understandable why he dissaproves of Charlie's plans to try to rehabilitate demons because he very well knows that God probably won't allow it or won't care. I also get the feeling that while Lilith may be the nicer of the two that she is either dead, too busy, or not the best parent to Charlie either due to that scene where Charlie was leaving her a voice message in the pilot.

So I haven't yet checked this out because there is something really offputting to me about Zoophobia's artstyle. I can't pinpoint what it is, so maybe its just case of my tastes not liking the artstyle? I don't like artstyle of Regular Show, Bojack Horseman or Rick and Morty either(though in case of those three, I don't like what the shows are about or their genres).

Also kinda funny how premise of the show coincidences with how many arguments there have been about redemption lately. It actually makes me wonder if any of sinners are stated to have done really fucked up shit while alive or if people accept demon redemption easier than if they were still alive.

Also also, wondering if show gets big enough that will someone complain about stuff like making reprehensible criminals seem cool? tongue Kinda noticed that serial killers and such are also in the category that causes arguments nowadays a lot

[up][up]Well as far as we can tell Vaggie seems to not be a sinner that did anything really nasty. The only thing I can find on her was that she was a prostitute and is probably lesbian. Niffty and Husk do not come across to me as nasty sinners but they are associated with Alastor so whom knows about em.

I think the problem with trying to rehabilitate sinners is the ones that didn't do the really nasty stuff are forced to do nasty stuff to survive in Hell because God in this setting to me comes across as humongous dick.

It seems like a crab bucket, to be honest. You can rise to the top, but you have to do a whole lot of pretty evil stuff just to survive, let alone become a power player. Great if your goal is to run Hell; not so great if you want to get out.

Then again, it seems likely that Alastor's take - that the inhabitants of Hell had their chance, and this is their punishment, not a way to make amends - is probably the intended one, in-universe.

It's been fun.

The Russian interest doesn't surprise me in the least. Cynical, dark humor at the expense of religion is practically a staple of comedy.

As an aside, I'm glad Jill Harris (Charlie) is getting some appreciation, she does anime and indie work, but isn't terribly well known.

Angel Dust from my understanding also didn't do anything nasty to get sent to Hell (he was gay and a male prostitute in a decade where that was viewed very unfavorably and on top of that he died via his brother murdering him) but he did some nasty things, both violent and sexual to survive in Hell though. I could however be wrong as I get the feeling that Angel Dust may of been in the mafia or did a lot of small time crimes in his life.

A lot of the demon's backstories aren't explicit mentioned in series beyond Alastor's I think. Most of what I am finding is from external sources.
