An animated series from Vivienne Medrano, it follows the escapades of the princess of Hell as she tries to curb hell's overpopulation by creating the titular hotel to redeem souls and get them into heaven.

CellSpex recently released a video about her thoughts on Season 2 and the various criticisms people have regarding it.
Overall, she agrees with some of the complaints (The pacing of some episodes and story beats, Stella being a boring villain, the Cringe Comedy in Unhappy Campers leaning too much into "cringe" and not enough into "comedy" etc.), but she also addresses that some (Though not all) of the complaints in regards to how certain characters develop seem to be along the lines of some fans being pissed that their personal headcanons don't turn out to be true. Sounds like a fandom, alright.
I thought this video was a pretty good analysis all around, but what do you think?
My AO3 profile. Let sleeping cats lie and be cute and calming.Well, either way… Crimson is an idiot. No wonder his mafia has fallen on hard times.
That's kinda been my issue in how the general premise is not fully realized.
The setting is hell and is about demons. But that only goes as far as justification for people dropping swears a lot...not the R-word though. Otherwise the locales look like Earth cities or ranches but with a red sky, and the citizens are in practice basically just humans with red skin and bear trap teeth.
Crimson leaned close to that supports premise at first. Imps are near the bottom of the food chain, of course if they want power it'd be through underground or outside the order means, no pun intended. Him doing the MCU Vulture shtick of running a criminal empire while staying beneath the top dog's notice works. But then in his second appearance he's extorting a prince of hell with a video of his own face and a plan that leaves an explicit paper trail. How is this guy's third appearance not gonna be him already in the grave?
#IceBearForPresidentA new tweet from Vivziepop: https://twitter.com/VivziePop/status/1705645390350160253
So the tweet basically acknowledges that it's the last day of summer but Hazbin hasn't released yet, even though it was supposed to be summer 2023, but the tweet also doesn't explain why. I'm finding the lack of explanation kind of odd - I realise there are probably stipulations by A24 about what can and cannot be talked about, but if they approved the release of a poster with a definitive release date then surely they would realise it's common sense to also allow the team to say something more definitive than 'there will be an update soon', since that's been all that's been said for awhile.
I've seen conflicting opinions about whether or not it's related to the SAG strikes, since there had been a post about a wrap up for HB a long while before that, if I remember rightly, and surely VA work would be done concurrently with the animation since mouth movements would need to be animated to.
I do find it worrying there hasn't been so much as a trailer either - A24 might do things differently for other shows but HH built its following mostly online, it seems odd to have so little promo for it.
I'm happy there's at least some kind of acknowledgment. Radio silence is worse than just openly admitting some kind of setback.
New preview for the next episode, featuring Mammon.
Surprised they aren't waiting till the actual episode to reveal him.

We finally got our date AND premiere month (plus some bonus news!)
So I guess that leaves Leviathon, Belphegor and Satan ?
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Related note; should the series itself get a separate namespace from the pilot when we get enough material from it?
Youtube version of the same announcement for the airdate and platform of Hazbin Hotel mentioned above
Posting for more accessibility and etc. for those that might not be able to view on Twitter for whatever reason.
Edit:
Just in case some can't view the video.
Hazbin Hotel will air on January 2024 and will stream on Amazon Prime.
Season 2 is also announced to be coming.

Now that we have an actual trailer and platform, I'm thinking we should give Hazbin Hotel it's own thread on western animation.
The Future Works page seems to list it as
WesternAnimation.Hazbin Hotel 2024

The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.I think so
Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation projectAre we to inform the mods or can we just start the new one already?
Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation projectI dont know...so much of the talk and history was in this thread to begin with, what would starting a new thread even do?
A fresh new start? You see, the characters could very much have been re-written and could be very different from their characterizations from the Hazbin pilot (which is now considered non-canon and more of a test run).
Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation projectI already made a thread for it in Western Animation tab.
Thanks.

Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation projectShould this thread be renamed to just "Helluva Boss" or "Hazbin Hotel pilot & Helluva Boss"?
Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation projectProbably "Hazbin Hotel pilot & Helluva Boss" as it literally starts with Hazbin and has a lot of posts related to it.

Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation projectThread renamed as requested.
Why the rename?
