Forever liveblogging the AvengersAlso, you realize we're likely going to see Bud's magical girl form next comic?

That'll be all the girls from the club, then, won't it? Barring Gabby, I mean.
Gabby's not in the club, she's just there to use the exercise room.
Still, she's there when they are there, and seems fine working out with Harley when she asks. She counts in my book.
Even if she's not a member, she'd probably come along for this anyway. After all, there'd be nobody to spot for her back in the room!
Now that I think about it, Cassidy's powers explain why she keeps getting paired with Bud and forced to dodge lasers. She's the only one who can take one without injury, as long as she has a clone available.
It also explains why Cassidy was so dismayed to be paired with Bud. Just cos she can survive the hit if it hits one of her clones, doesn't mean it's comfortable or nice. Not to mention what if it hits her real body?
Also... this kinda proves at least Bud thinks Cassidy's attitude is not ok. Wonder how much she heard, but I am hopeful this means Cassidy is really the only one suspicious of Undine in the club.

I've started to wonder just what Cassidy's "plan" was going into this confrontation, at least in terms of what she imagined would happen. She fights with swords, so assuming Undine is slow or clumsy she might just end up killing or grievously injuring her, and then she has much bigger problems than some vague suspicion of an acquaintances cowardice or being a possible murderer(?!)
Alternately, since she's insinuating she suspects Undine either killed her teammates or at best was negligent and a coward and would get HP dead, she's basically the detective confronting the serial killer she's just unmasked. Alone. Against someone who's already taken down an entire team.
About the only somewhat reasonable plan I can sort of imagine she's trying is cornering and then threatening Undine at sword point so she confesses. Great! Where's the camera to record the confession? Or is she thinking everyone will automatically believe her, against the (in her view) proven successful liar, who will run away in shame forever and ever?
I dunno, I'm sort of starting to suspect Cassidy didn't... give it a second thought? *badum-tish*
One thing to keep in mind is that, while it was originally a side gag meant to show off an unused character design, canonically there are wanted posters for magical girls in the setting. Which means that Cassidy is also risking the possibility of becoming a subject of said wanted posters.
...yeah, she did not think this through at all.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)
But yeah, Cassidy's plan isn't thought-out at all. She probably should have asked someone for a second opinion on it.
She may have. Thing is that second opinion was also her.
Bully Undine into admitting she murdered her friends, I guess.
Peculiar thought: wouldn't it be funny if her scissors didn't just split her? Like if she snipped Undine with the full pair, she'd become two Undines?
My read on her may be completely off, but I'm thinking that she's tackling this situation fully convinced that she's the hero of this story who's exposing Undine for what she really is... or what she's telling herself that she is, anyway. What I can't tell yet is how much she believes her own lies. As again, if she really thinks the others already agree with her that Undine's acting suspiciously, why wouldn't she have them around to back her up?
Sure, it's possible that Bud or one of the others is about to confirm that yeah, they did find Undine's behavior odd... but I'll honestly be astonished if any of them share Cassidy's cruel thesis about why she's been acting so weird. As I would presume their suspicions lie more along the lines of "Poor Undine is putting on a brave face, but I wonder how well she's really dealing with all of this..." With Cassidy being the only one who went full Grimdark with her conspiracy theory, and none too pleased to hear them 'buying the act'...
Yeah. Bud's costume seems real old timey, for want of a better term.
Those flower drones look amazing
I can't wait for Bud and Zoe to compare notes on their costumes
Also I now wonder if her eyes are blank and glowy all the time and that's why she's Eyes Always Shut in civilian mode.
Oh, Vedika probably picked up on the emotions spiking and figured that something screwy was going down. That’s an elegant way to have someone find out about this confrontation.
Yeah agree about Vedika, and I love the design.
Prior to this, my headcanon was that opening her eyes is the/one way for Bud to activate her power, but I did not expect blank eyes.
Ultimately I think the "why" of Cassidy's actions is the critical factor here that would, if known, clarify what she's trying to accomplish here. Unfortunately, I doubt we'll get a chance to find that out during this bit, since I suspect this is going to be the start of a running subplot.
